| I'm curious about Elite gear. If Elite gear is designed for Elite dragons, shouldn't it be larger than street gear? Supposedly Moordryd had some once, but it looked like normal gear to me in that it fit Decepshun just fine. I can't quite picture even three sets of Red Thruster Gear on Abandonn or Tyrannis Pax of the sort we see on Wyldfyr, whereas the large mag cannon Abandonn had magged in Return of Drakkus, Part 2, fit him nicely but would squash your typical dragon. |
Thank you Swyfifr! Yes, most Elite gear is much larger than street gear. However, some of the Elite gear consists of simple pods and attachments meant to use the draconium power of the dragon to power more "mechanized" equipment. Things like drag boxes, non-dragon energy based weapons or basic use gear such as deflection gear and such don't need to be larger. Generally, the gear that directly amplifies and channels the dragons energy attributes to use AS a weapon or defense (Such as an Elite Green Mag Cannon) would be far larger to handle the larger and far more direct dragon-energy load. Both of the examples you've cited show this nicely, Elite Dragon Star Gear is just a simple projectile weapon and only channels the energy to fire it, so it's relatively the same size and only the quality of the hardware, meaning in this case, the destructive ability of the star projectiles is better in the Elite version like the caliber of a bullet. The Elite Gear on Mortis and Drakkus' dragons channels the dragon's energy for use as a beam weapon and therefore needs to be bigger just to handle the enormous power. Hope that explains it!

Dear Magna Draconis, Could you please explain to us more about what actually happens in Elite Class racing? Is it all based on finishing first or is it more of a last one standing kind of thing? Mortis and Drakkus were said to be Elite Class racers yet they don't know each other's identities. Do the people in the race have to keep their identities secret so they can be more ruthless in battle because they don't know who is who? Whatever you can tell us about the races and what they have to do for them would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. |
Great question Hydrag! First let me talk the reasons for Elite Class Racing. Think the political ramifications of Rollerball, meaning to prevent war, stage war as being the first part of Elite Racing. Then, think the military and the space program and why these exist. Two basic human needs are exploration and defense/protection and they both come from wanting to feel secure! Also, this is huge business, part of our war machine and exploration machine is that the technology it throws off (approve of disapprove of the hows and whys) changes the world for the better in the technology sense, so this is all about economy and business and security. Without the enterprises of defense and exploration in our world, we'd have no computers no GPS, no cell phones etc...they were all initially designed and funded for space or defense. I'm not approving or disapproving of any of these (our world) things, just stating the parallel to the word of Dragon Booster. The Elite Class was designed to replace war, reap the technological leaps and bounds and huge business from this staged war and most important prevent a future war. The folly of course is that, until we "balance" who we are, we are always destined to fight another war. That war is coming in Dragon Booster. Now, for the question: Elite Class is like gladiator meets Nascar, like Rollerball meets a jet fighter dogfight. It takes place on huge track/obstacle arenas where the track is as dangerous as your opponent. The skill and abilities of the racers and their gear prevents catastrophe but make no mistake, this is like having a ringside seat for a war! Also, these racers do not fight in secret, only two of them ever did, MORTIS and DRAKKUS. The rest live and party like rock stars, they are in many ways, the most powerful people on the planet. One of the major things Dragon Booster will show when we move forward that is, is that celebrity without cause is as dangerous as any weapon too. Thanks!

In the episode, Defiant, why did Pyrrah, Wulph, and Phistus, have the Ramming Gear? This is in the final race, during which Moordryd used the Orange Mind Pods (making dragons and their riders act pretty crazy, according to Cain).
There is no barrier to hit, in order to proceed. Is the Green Ramming Gear a racing gear? The combination of Aero, and Rappel Gear were used mainly. Why were the other racing gear used? Red truster gears were not needed for the track. I cannot picture Red Truster Gears being used for this track.

If you meant that question for The Magna Draconis, then this isn't the right place to submit questions.
If you're just asking the other forum membership, then it's somewhat off-topic for this thread, but I believe the ramming gear is not only used for bashing down barriers, but is also used to bash into your opponent, or for providing some defense for when you think someone else will try bashing into you or launching a projectile at you.

Not too mention the cool drag-ball you get to shoot. :P

Would that mean that Elite Dragon Star gear is like bullets, and can cause around the same amount of damage? I'm wondering how many racers get killed on average...no wonder they live like rock stars while they can. :D

I Don't know, didn't Mortis/ Connor said that Lorius lived a long time ago? Or is just my memory playing tricks on me?Correct me if I'm wrong
Anyways, these were some awesome answers!

I could be wrong myself, but I think Lorius completed the jump 15 years before Artha did. I should check the transcript...
EDIT: Yup...
Mortis: You don’t have to. No one has made that jump in fifteen years. Everyone takes the much safer long way to the finish.

No I think that for the "Bullets" he means that the more powerfull a Dragon Star Gear is its like or able to be compared like a .22 caliber rifle versus a 30-06 rifle or a 50 caliber sniper rifle. Nothing but sheer destructive power and quality.
I have to wonder what the Celebrity without cause part means. Im a bit confuzzled on that one.

Wow, you gotta be kidding me, Hydrag. :faint:
If that's the case, it's like arming yourself with a rifle instead of the normal racing gears.....I like that...
Geez, I wonder how many racers are gonna get hurt in an Elite race. I began to pity first-time Elite racers like Artha and Moordryd. Ouch...

Mmm, sheer destructive power... :plot:

I'm not sure, but probably none. I believe it's like the Magna Draconis said: their gear and skill keeps them from getting seriously hurt. I think you can compare it to the people who do stunts for movies. They do get hurt at times, but they hardly ever get killed since they use a lot of safety gear and have a lot of experience at what they're doing. Or maybe it's more like say skiing: as you get better, you want to go down tougher terrain since the easy trails are boring. Skiers with Olympic class skills rarely get hurt despite the insane speeds they ski at.

Well, we certainly see plenty of celebrities in the real world who become self-destructive in various ways, and it's clear they never would have gotten that way if it wasn't for their celebrity status. So maybe that's part of it. Maybe the other part is the influence these types of people can have on others, fans who want to emulate their behavior. In other words, bad influence.

I am very sorry. What are the other Elite Class Racing Gear? I am excited as everyone else.
