Title: How Come No One Noticed Artha Being Db?
Description: Isn't it obious tha artha is DB?

Artha_penn1995 - December 13, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
I started this topic cuz' it is so obvious that artha is DB, but no one notices it. I mean, don't they realize that the gold arm band that he keeps wearing is similar to DB's? There are two main reasons:
1) Beau
2) Artha

Beau
Beau's design is very similar to the dragon of legend, didn't people notice? He has the same pointy chin, the same body type, only his colour is different. Also, how many street dragon have yellow mag streams? Not many.

Artha
Artha looks the same as the DB, and has the same gauntlet as DB. Didn't people realize that their crew's symbol is the star mark? Didn't Moordryd see Artha riding on top of Beau in The Choosing Part 1? Didn't they notice that whenever DB is around, Artha is not around? I don't get this part.

The writers might have done it that way, but it is not logical. I understand the meaning of keeping it safe, it is that the academy won't let him in, but the way the writers put Artha's and Beau's characters that are similar to DB, I don't get that part.

I would like to know your comments.

Yep, people should have really noticed that Artha is DB by now. Especially since DB/Artha has repeatedly called out Beau's name while standing right in front Word and Moordryd. They really should be able to put two and two together. :)

This topic has come up a number of times here in the past, and there's basically no explaining it within the context of the show. What you might want to do is to save this question and ask the creator of the show himself the next time we do a round of Q&A. He may not have an answer either, but at least you can get his point of view.

One thing I know is that Moordryd did not see Artha riding on Beau at the end of The Choosing, Part 1. The writers were very careful to always have Artha out of view from Moordryd. Moordryd and Cain only saw Beau by himself, even after the jump at the end.

I've always figured that it's basically like how no one can figure out that Clark Kent is Superman. That never made sense either. At least Artha wears a mask. :)

Kay Yasha - December 14, 2007 10:40 AM (GMT)
Ah, the most wonderful thing a fantasy show could have, a Willing Suspension of Disbelief by the audience. We've just got to live with it I supose.

RoldGold Dragon - December 15, 2007 02:15 AM (GMT)
I almost wonder if the creators didn't do this on purpose. It's the classic disappearing superhero and all too obvious disguise bit.

"Clark, where have you been? You always disappear when Superman's around..."

"I'll change out of my suit, no one will no I'm Clark Kent without my glasses..."

My favorite though was Masters of the Universe. Adam sporting the pageboy haircut/He man sporting the same. No one noticed he was He-man? Why? because He changed his clothes! Not even a mask to hide his identity....

Astrala - December 15, 2007 06:06 AM (GMT)
yeah it does seem a bit dumb. your right, furox, at least artha wears a mask. so he's not nearly as obvious as some.

maybe it's just, to many of the character's in the show, the idea of artha as Dragon Booster is a complete joke. no matter how many similarities they may have, they either can't make the connection or just can't, or won't, believe it. i mean, moordryd laughed at the idea of artha being a hero in "Darkness Falls." and even after that, he had to see it to believe it. that is, see the gauntlet, but if we look at it closely, he only noticed the gaunlet on artha when it started glowing, just like artha didn't notice moordyrd's til that passing comment about his fight with DB for the gaunlet. (did that make sense?)

that's the problem with a lot if people today, even in our world. they don't believe something unless they see it, or find some hard evidence to prove it.

Yeah, It is weird how come people didn't notice Artha being the dragon booster. But I think Chute has some guesses because remember in framed when artha showed up And captain Faiirer asked when did he get here, chute had this look on her face. I think Chute knows that artha is db.

The Furox - December 15, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
I really wonder what Chute knows myself. After all, she was around with Artha when Beau turned white. Did she witness that, or did Artha and Beau duck around a corner while Beau changed colors and then came back? Even if they did, wouldn't she question where Artha suddenly came up with a sky class dragon and ask where his red and blue dragon went? Somebody needs to ask The Magna Draconis this sometime (hint, hint). :)

Yeah, Skeletor must be a moron. :D Ever watch "Robot Chicken"? They lampoon him quite a bit. :)

I'm sure the writers would say something like it. The stable brat being DB is just too absurd to consider for even a moment (even though his father did breed the dragon of legend, and Artha did grow up with said dragon, and Artha happens to race a dragon also named Beau, and said dragon has the same profile as the dragon of legend, and Artha wears the DB gauntlet out in public and keeps the amulet on a chain around his neck, and ... :D).

Actually, I'd say that's a good thing. Like in the courtroom, there should be conclusive evidence beyond a reasonable doubt before reaching a verdict and believing in something.

Alexis - December 16, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
I have been wondering the same question! Especially the Artha and Beau one.

Artha_penn1995 - December 16, 2007 01:12 AM (GMT)
I will definatly ask the magma draconis as soon as the next round begins. (Furox, do you have any idea when that might be?)

well yeah, in situations like that it is good to have hard evidence. but in other areas of life, hard evidence shouldn't be nescesary. the idea of believing in things like magic and mind powers and mystic creatures and so on, is that feeling of hope and happiness that there is something else out there. people who just dismiss things and only rely on hard fact 100% of the time seem pretty narrow minded to me. it's good to be able to just believe.

Personally, I don't think Beau used his legendary powers to look like a white Sky-class dragon. Remember that paint gear or something that Parm used to put the star marks on all of Penn Racing's dragons? I think that Chute and Artha used some paint stuff like that to make Beau only look like a Sky-class dragon. If Beau had actually used his powers to become a white dragon, he probably would've had more frills, fins or other such accesories that come with the white-draconium theme. Besides, Artha said that "we" (as in he and Chute) had a plan to fool DC Security. If Chute was in on the plan, then she would've known before the big fight with the SB at Phistisus' stables that Artha was the DB. But she didn't, which is why she gave him that funny look at the end. It was just a quick-fix to throw DC Security off; they wouldn't bother to match the shape and build of Beau with every dragon they came across (not even suspecting that a fugitive of the law would try to use a disguise).

Which brings me to another thought: If Word was so bent on finding, capturing and controlling the Dragon of Legend, you'd think he'd do a more extensive search of any dragon that beared either a physical resemblence, had some similar draconium qualities, or had the same NAME! But, as always, villians can be stupid and impatient and seldom take the time and effort to figure out the slightly obvious. Word himself said that Artha's dragon was very fast and powerful (in "The Stand", I believe), which is why he captured him in the first place. You'd think he'd have gained some physical info on Beau from having him under his control, maybe gleaned form his sensors that Beau had gold bones? Or not; maybe Word would've had to bring Beau to the citidel itself and conduct the tests there. Of course, Word didn't think to do that, since (as has been said before) the idea that Artha could be riding the Dragon of Legend was unthinkable, a joke.

Well, those are my thoughts. :D

Ask this to the Magna Draconis when we do round 4 of the Q&A.

RoldGold Dragon - December 20, 2007 06:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah I love robot chicken, Furox! I always joke its like watching Gumby (or Davey & Goliath) on crack. It ranks up there with Celebrity Death Match. Can't remember if I've seen the He-man episode, but Skeletor was definitely an idiot. I think he was a bit jealous too.....think he may have lost the ugly contest to Hordak.

SilverDragon - December 26, 2007 07:06 AM (GMT)
The real reason no-one notices that Artha is the Dragon Booster:

Artha: (surrounded by bad guys) Hey! Look! A distraction! (points in random direction)
Bad Guys: (all look in said direction)
Artha: Release the Dragon! (transforms into DB)
Bad Guys: Oh no! It's the Dragon Booster.
Beau: Rawr.
(Art-I mean DB-saves the day. Hooray!)

Artha_penn1995 - December 27, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
yes, i agree, and it was funny too. thanx SilverDragon!

I have put this question forth to Rob, and I have been told it is a real FAQ. Artha_Penn1995, I have done it on your behalf.

Artha_penn1995 - January 26, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
It's ok. I was going to ask it myself but now i have another question to ask him. It is ok that you put this question up, thanks!
