Searchable Card Database Now Online on Dragon-City.Org!

OK, so I fully realize this is in the "nobody but me cares" category, but making a searchable database for the trading card game is something I've been wanting to create for a long time. It took me quite awhile to make this since I had to type in all the data from all 280 cards into the database, write the search function, and then code the html to present it all on the web. It was fun to do even if no one uses this but me. :)

Click here to try the advanced search

Just use the form to enter the card characteristics you want to narrow down your search. Search criteria is cumulative, so the more details you enter, the more refined your search becomes. When you hit the search button, it will display the cards that match your search criteria in the lower portion of the page. Pretty cool, huh.

Some searches you can try:

Say you want to see all the dragon cards in the game: set Type to "Dragon" and hit search.

Say you want to see all the Light Blue gear in the game: set Type to "Gear" and Color to "Light Blue" and hit search.

Say you're a Hyve fan and want to see her card: just type "hyve" into the title search field.

The real purpose of the database is to help you with deck building by making it easier to find card combos. Let's say for example you want to build a deck around Shuko who has a really nifty ability (to look up his card, just put "shuko" in the card title field and hit search) and you want to see what might work with his effect. So type "discard a card" into the text search field and four matches will turn up. The card "Dark Dash" says that when you would discard a card in the track (which is what Shuko's effect does), you get to discard a card in the zone instead. If you understand the game, this basically lets you win a battle right then and there. That's a really powerful card combo! So this quick search allowed you to find a really useful card to have in your deck.

So try it out and have fun. I tested this with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. If you find any browser compatibility problems, please let me know.

Yet another great addition to a popular site among DB fanatics. This is very impressive. It makes for a better check list then the back of the playing mat.

Not only played it, but I've won every local tournament!

(Yeah OK, hardly anyone ever showed up for those, but I still won!)

If you want to learn to play, you can download the instructions from the TCG section of Lance's Room on dragon-city.org.

I've thought about making an online version of the game so those of us who are geographically distributed could still play, but boy that would be a lot of work. It would make this database look like nothing!

And I'm happy to see that at least two other people like the database besides me. Thanks! :)

Looks like it works with Opera too. It's really handy, though it would be more so if I actually played the game. lol

Yeah! Three people like my database. :) And counting me, that makes four! :D

Yes, fast is nice. :) Of course, there aren't all that many cards in the game. There are only 280 cards, so even a complex search will complete in a fraction of second. The only thing that can appear to slow it down is when it goes to fetch the images of the cards from the server to show you the results. That of course will be dependent on the speed of your Internet connection.

Hope people have fun with it. ;)

This is great news. I can search for the unknown and unseen gear. Thanks, Furox! ^_^
