A/N: I was looking at this phobia list and I came across "Peladophobia-fear of bald people" and my mind jumped to Connor so here I am. Any inaccuracy concerning the actual name for that fear is partly mine but mostly the maker of the list. I do not own the list. Pre-Dragon Booster.

Peladophobia

I paced nervously down the street from Penn Stables, fretting about how my first meeting with the owner of the stables, Connor Penn, had gone. Our meeting had not gone well at all.

I'm a racer, but I race only for the sake of my dragon who enjoys it. I live in Sun City on the grounds that my parents are senators, and I race in the All-City Racing events. Anyway, I told my parents I wanted to upgrade my dragon's stables so as my birthday present they're paying for one year's stay at Penn Stables for my dragon.

I went to Penn Stables in Mid-City with my dragon, confident that I could meet and talk with Connor Penn and not be nervous without my parent's presence. I had been cheerful, glad that my dragon was going to be staying in a place with a very good reputation. I had managed to get there without getting lost (though I think that was due more to my dragon than my own navigational skills). I arrived at Penn Stables, practically glowing with confidence.

I met with Lance Penn, son of Connor Penn, who directed me to his elder brother, Artha. Artha Penn was a decent person, if a bit grumpy. He directed me and my dragon to where my dragon would be staying. The stable was spacious, clean and very favorable. Artha stayed to chat for a while, clearing up a few final questions and saying that I wouldn't have to meet with his father if I just answered his questions.

I had just finished answering Artha's inquiries when it happened. Artha glanced behind me and smiled, saying, "Hi, dad."

I turned around, smiling, ready to greet Connor Penn. That is when I saw it: a close-up of the gleaming bald head of Connor Penn.

Don't get me wrong. I knew Connor Penn was bald. I had seen the sign on top of the main building and my parents had informed me. They had wanted to come with me, to give me their support, but I, like a fool, refused. I told them I had to face my fear sooner or later, and that if they came with me every time I had to meet a bald person I would never face my fears.

I should have let them come with me. Then perhaps I wouldn't have screamed like a sissy newt right in Connor Penn's face.

"Aiyeee~!" I screamed in horror, my eyes fixed upon the gleaming dome of evil before me. I backpedaled and ran from the shining dome of doom, screaming much like a two year old girl confronted with the gooey remains of a squished yellow-bellied newt.

And now here I am, pacing the pavement, feeling like a major fool. I had not only yelled in Connor's face, I had made a scene of myself running through the streets of Mid-City, shrieking my fool head off. It's a miracle I was able to find my way back to just down from Penn Stables at all without someone to show me.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. I felt something on my hand and I brought my hand forward so that I could look at it. I felt my throat constrict with fear: strands of my hair were falling out.

:*:

Artha's head snapped up as a loud shriek filled the air. He blinked as the scream tapered off. "What was that?"

Funny! I like the phrases "gleaming dome of evil" and "shining dome of doom". :D

I like the way Artha heard the scream at the end, too. :) Nothing worse than a phobia that makes you fear yourself!

I have to wonder though, since dragons are hairless, would someone affected by peladophobia also be afraid of dragons? After all, they have no hair on their heads either. ;)

Scales. The rider has convinced him/herself that the dragon's scales count as hair. :D
