'Kay, so I gots DirecTV in CO, and went to see which episodes would be on this weekend, and there arn't any, its time slot got replaced by Pucca. Is this permanent or just this weekend? DB withdrawl..........emo inside taking over......must go to youtube...........
The Furox - October 6, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Looks like it's off the air. October is when they would have started airing new episodes if there were any, so I was kind of wondering what Toon Disney was going to do. It's kind of a shame. On the one hand, they've already re-run the episodes so many times that it's difficult to even estimate the count at this point. I would guess the season 1 episodes have probably been aired close 100 times, maybe even more since Disney was showing DB on two channels at once for the first year or so. But on the other hand, once a show is off the air, interest tends to dry up which hurts the prospects for renewal. So that's a bummer for sure.
Maybe we'll get lucky and another channel will pick it up now. If Disney's not airing it, I'm going to guess that their contract has run out which should mean another network can pick it up if they want.
black and gold dragon - October 6, 2007 09:15 PM (GMT)
yeah but they are getting more shows too like superman the animated serious so they may have gotten rid of to replace it with there "new shows". plus we dont have any more episodes.yet. :plot:

Deathshallcome - October 8, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
here is some advise send letters. Send letters to them if everyone who has jetix and toon disney sends letters to them and the petition then they shall reair the show again
silverfang - October 8, 2007 06:19 PM (GMT)
i know. but it would be nice if we could have some more ways to see how things are progressing for the show. :poof: (and sorry to everyone for sounding a little impasient over these past few days. schools grinding down on my last patient nerve. :faint: )
Deathshallcome - October 8, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
LOL need not worry silverfang I know how school is I hate it with a passion..... but anyways why not go to the topic Q&A From Magna Draconius, he is the creator of the show and he can tell you everything you need to know.... he has already answered a whole ton of questions about the show and nvm ^_^ you are already looking there.
juno - October 8, 2007 10:39 PM (GMT)
yeah. it's bad news. I checked the TV guide and i found DB isnt showing anymore. I froze. but got to record most of them before Jetix turned on me.

The Furox - October 9, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
We already have a thread for this. See
America Lose Db?It's always a good idea to look around a little before starting a new thread, especially when the topic is likely to be an FAQ, otherwise the forum gets cluttered with redundant topics.

Yeah, it's gone. I asked The Magna Draconis and he confirmed my guess that the contract with Jetix expired. That's not to say it couldn't be renewed again in the future or another channel couldn't pick it up.
As I stated above, on the one hand this isn't that much of a loss to us since it was nothing but re-runs at this point anyway. And anyone who cared enough had plenty of chances over the last three years to record the episodes.
But on the other hand, it would have been nice if it had continued to air so that new fans could find it. At least the show is still airing in other parts of the world.
If a network picks up season 4, I'm sure they'll also get the rights to air the first three seasons as well. Plus there's always Boomerang which may buy the rights to air the show at some point since they exist to air past shows. So there's still a good chance of the past seasons airing again. I'm still hoping they might show up on iTunes at some point.
IbanezJFS - October 9, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
We gotta keep those letters going to Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. And keep the petition going. Everything can change with just 1 phone call. Just look at Digimon. It's had nothing for the past few years. Now all the sudden it's back on with a new season. I still say Nickelodeon would do a better job at promoting it. So I would recomend sending letters. Plus, they already air it in the Spanish Region. We Will NEVER Give Up.
The Furox - October 9, 2007 07:13 AM (GMT)
That's the spirit! :cookie:
Dimetro - October 10, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
Keep it going people, if we do nothing it won't come back for sure.
The Furox - October 10, 2007 08:28 AM (GMT)
Yes, and let me add one other thing: The Magna Draconis told me recently that he thinks the petition had a large effect on the CBC's decision to bring the show back. He also confirmed my instinct that a large network like Toon Disney would want to see around 10,000 signatures on something like that, however he also said that a smaller network like Cartoon Network would be swayed by 6,000-7,000 signatures. To them, that's a lot of fans since they understand that for every one fan that signs, there are many more out there who would sign if they knew of the petition. Well, the petition is over 5,800 signatures now, so we're almost in that range.
Since Disney has chosen not to renew, I think we should focus more effort on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon at this point. I plan to send them both another copy of the petition after it crosses 6,000 which should happen fairly soon. So if you've never sent a letter to these two networks, now would be a good time. :) Address can found
here on dragon-city.org.

Not to mention Jetix has made and still makes ALOT of bad choices. They recently started bought the rights to air a show that's been cancelled for like a decade. I am talking about Pinky And The Brain. What the hell is Jetix doing with a show that's been off the air for almost a decade. Jetix just recently picked up a brand new season of Digimon. Granted I think that was 1 of their better choices. But, it took them this long? It's been almost 3 or 4 years and, they just NOW decided to pick it up? Not to mention I dont think all these other shows they picked up dont have a chance.
Crystal Wildfyr - October 11, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
Things just got a whole lot worse for us... All the time, I looked to Jetix to play it... Now... life... DB just went :poof: ...
DragonBooster500 - October 15, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
I've seen episodes of DragonBooster on Toon Disney actually. But they are on at like 2:00 in the morning so there is no way I could ever see them....waaaah!
silverfang - October 15, 2007 10:27 PM (GMT)
hey Furox, is there some way to get a printable version so that it wont take so long to go through and print every single section of the petition?
just wondering. ^_^

Yes. I made nice "pretty print" version in pdf format which you can download from here:
http://dragon-city.org/Misc/db_fan_list_07_22_07.pdfIt's the petition as of July 22nd. I'll update it again when the petition crosses 6000 (which should be fairly soon!).

I hate to be the person to point out fallacies in others' reasoning, but I do want to point out that Digimon reruns have been airing on Toon Disney for a good chunk of time.
But that does not mean we should give up hope! That would be fatal to our whole mission. We have, at this moment, 5,867 signatures. We just need 133. In our global world, that is not that many. 133 out of nearly seven billion. So just get the word out.
And speaking of globalization... I think 6,000 signatures to a smaller network would definitely spark interest. As I look at one page the petition now, I'm slightly amazed at how many countries are represented on one page. Something like this would help the smaller networks of Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon expand into Disney's vast territory and give them a leg up in the entertainment business. I think that is a point we should stress.
Let's keep collecting signatures and sending letters. Our effort will get noticed. We just have to keep it up.

I've been gone for a while, so briefly could someone sum up how much progress we've made.
also, notsure if ive asked this or notbut, is there an esier way to send the petition w/o printing the entire thinbg? that's ALOT of ink and paper. :faint:
The Furox - November 25, 2007 07:13 AM (GMT)
Yeah, the petition is over 200 pages printed out right now, so it is a lot of paper. Sending in the whole thing will of course have the biggest impact on the networks since it's a substantial wad of paper. But if you don't have the funds to do that, then just send in a polite 1-2 page letter telling them why you like the show and why they should buy more episodes. Clearly point out the petition and talk about the huge number of signatures we've gathered and include the URL to the petition in a clear location. You can use the shortcut link I created which is:
http://signatures.dragon-city.orgAs for our progress, The Magna Draconis hasn't given up yet. The Story Hat definitely wants to make more episodes and they're trying to make it happen. He says that the petition is now to the point where smaller networks like Cartoon Network will start to take notice. Hopefully, the petition will keep growing!

That's a good sign, I hope. :*: CN houses some of the most popular cartoon series like Ben 10 and Teen Titans and having DB to join them can be of great help in attracting more audiences and gaining popularity. :)
Hopefully the petition will be at a more satisfying length that CN or other TV networks will start to take note and consider buying more eppies in the end. :plot:

I think Cartoon Network would be a good fit as well since they air many other action/adventure shows that have a similar audience appeal. The Magna Draconis told me that ideally he'd like to see Cartoon Network air DB as part of their nightly Adult Swim segment. (For those of you who don't get Cartoon Network, "Adult Swim" is a several hours long segment of programming on late at night that's geared for more mature audiences. Anime like Inuyasha and Ghost in the Shell airs during this time.) I think DB would fit right with these shows and a lot of viewers who never watch Toon Disney because it's too kid oriented would probably see the show for the first time. DB could find a whole new audience!
And let's not ignore Nickelodeon either. Airing DB back to back with Avatar could really work as far as pulling in new viewers.
The next step I would really like to see is for Cartoon Network just to pick up the re-runs of the first three seasons. Since Disney has let their contract expire, other networks now can show these. For Cartoon Network, that's a lot cheaper than buying new episodes and let's them test the show on their network without the expense of making new episodes which is hefty. My hope is the show would gather enough of an audience that they then would want to order the next 26 episodes. I think that would be the best scenario at this point, so if anyone is writing letters to Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, that's is what I would suggest to them. Urge them to pick up the re-runs and then order the new episodes once they see the audience reaction.

as long as it's put towards the begginning of adult swim or on the saturday line up because one thing i've noticed is that their are some pretty strange shows on CN late at night. not to insult anyone who watches them, they just don't fit in with the DB theme.
