Title: Our... Planet Is Dying
Description: We must band together and stop this!

Deathshallcome - September 30, 2007 01:51 PM (GMT)
We must band together and stop our world from dying..... its only a matter of time before our planet dies... and if that happens...... DB will probably die with it.... along with all the other TV shows we love.

No this is not spam.... I have noticed it happening... we have to do something about it..... we have to gather up and fight for our planet... so who's with me?

Alexis - September 30, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
ME! Does this mean like Global Warming?

Dragon Fanatic - September 30, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
Yo. Gonna need a little more explaino. Don't want it to end up with a dramatic cult ending

Deathshallcome - September 30, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Worse then that Alexis... if this is not stopped... everything we have worked hard for.... will be destoried. DB.... everything. Thats why people are going out to space. They are trying to find a new home for us. But it will happen again, and again. Unless those who pollute our world are elminated from this planet. Things are just going to get worse.... parts of the north pole and antartic have melted. We have to make a stand for our planet and try to save it from its doomed fate.

Alot of things are happening Dragon Fantic.... alot of things that shouldn't be happening. Ice caps melting.... strange storms during winter... its like the planet is crying out to us to save it.

Are you concerned about the fate of another endangered species, the ellipsis?

Its nothing near that Sarah Frost.... the whole planet is dying... haven't you noticed the stuff happening around the world? The wierd weather? The sudden natural disastors? The planet itself is slowly dying.... and if we don't help our world.... we might have to live in space....

The Hydrag - October 3, 2007 04:25 AM (GMT)
Have you just seen The Day After Tomorrow or something? I guess that might put someone into that frame of mind but yes this world is dieing and hopefully if its to critical mass of polution then humans will be the first to go because then the world would heal itself rather quickly.(In a geologic sense of time) Well I just am hoping that someone in the high up govt will finally wake up to this fact.

Da Suga Queen - October 3, 2007 08:26 AM (GMT)
Well... how is just posting OMG teh planet is dying going to help? We should post ways to save energy and lessen water consumption and simply become less wasteful. I reccomend turning the tap off when you're brushing your teeth, having a short, timed shower and turning appliances off at the wall. If you've got any other solutuions, post them!!! :)

Dragon Fanatic - October 3, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
Agreed with Da Suga Queen.

I don't mean, but I agree with Da Suga Queen on this one. Aren't you wasting electricity by being on the computer and making this topic?

Well there is more to life then watching T.V. Sarah Frost has a point as well, if I could save an animal with every T.V set I through away, I would do it without a second thought (T.V is sometimes a waste of time anyways, but that is just me).

So Walk, car pool, bus anything to cut down on green house gases. Oh, shut off you computer and T.V when you aren't using them, saves on the electricity bill.

Oh no, not this democrat spew again..........alright. deathshallcome, this stuff your talking about is all part of the new decade scare, global warming. now, as a republican, let me share my view. 1)Yes, the earth is warming, but not from pollution. did you know that a herd of cows produces more green house gases than all the cars on earth? the planet is warming from the coming out of the Little Ice Age, which started in the middle ages of europe. 2) global warming is not what the democrats are making it out to be. You ever see the "Incovenient Truth" by Al Gore? Most facts in that movie/book/propoganda can be proven wrong. It's just the democrats dont want you to see that they where wrong. 3)just because we arnt the largest cause of the pollution on the planet doesn't mean we have the right to be stupid. yes we can all do better to help protect the planet, but we dont need a total reform. for example, you know those light bulbs gore is always on about? did you know that, though in some cases they last longer, they are far worse than incandescent. compact flourescent lightbulbs contain mercury, which is far worse that glass and metal for the environment, and us. plus Al Gore sunk major money into those companies, so you think he cares if it does good for the environment? those are some little tidbits of what my knowalge is. trust me, i argued like a pro agianst my left wing physical science teacher, I've seen that propoganda (or i would have failed for not believing in global warming) and Ive seen the other side of the story too (which the school failed to show)

Da Suga Queen - October 4, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
Well, the fact is that we can't stop Global Warming but what happens when fossil fuels run out and crude oil is gone? What we're doing now is trying to preserve our energy so that we can slowly become independent from oil, and hope that we have enough energy to last until then. Just because we aren't wholly responsible for global warming doesn't mean that we should continue to squander our precious energy. In the future we might have restrictions and limitations to our energy consumption, so we need to prepare ourselves should that time come.
There is a drought in Australia too, and I've never realised just how precious water really is until I saw the ground crack and harden and have huge water restrictions while the reservoirs slowly dry up. I'm just saying, if we start to cut back now it won't be as hard when we are forced to cut back.
And yeah, I'm wasting energy right now. In fact, I'm always spewing Carbon Dioxide into the air just by breathing, but I can't help that, but all of us can conserve energy just by doing little things that barely waste any of our time. Just because you don't give a stuff about what people say about Global Warming doesn't mean you shouldn't care about the planet anyway.

Again, I said we don't need to be stupid about things. Fact is that most democrats think we should switch over to all these things overnight, hydrogen cars (which tech isnt even feasible yet) or E-82 (which gets far less milage) which would bankrupt the country overnight as well. I feel like helping anyway that I can, but i'm not gonna drop every penny on all this stuff. Especially those stupid lightbulbs, my teacher even went so far as to say there was no He in them, so I bought one just to show them. Almost failed physical science last year for not believing in that democrat propoganda too, which is what started me against democrats.

I don't want the world to go away. i still have things I wanna do. Dragon Booster is not going yet. I can't believe that we took down most of the trees from the animals. Some people don't hink about those animals, those trees were their homes and we took it from them. If I were president or dominator or something I would fix that. People should be bying those Hybrid cars, those help with the environment A LOT. Poor animals. People are wondering why they attack us and come in our homes. Attacking sometimes! I wish we just has a few industries, stores, houses whatever. Animals are like family to. Am I right?

blah blah blah blah blah blah... is that all yer gonna say atomicnewt? This is no democratic bs. I am speaking from what I am seeing around my home and country. Birds are dying unnaturally. Fish bodys are appear on the river banks and lake banks. I have seen many animals dead from oil acid and who know what stuff.

Now I know why some people don't like you... because of you idiotic descisions... I hope you enjoy being banned. :) Because it is gonna happen

Liliwen - October 7, 2007 12:16 AM (GMT)
I think there is global warming, but I don't believe everything that was said on An Inconvenient Truth. But I do think we should do our part and not excessively waste electricity, water and what not. I agree what you say about hydrogen cars. If those were suddenly put out onto the roads, many people would lose their jobs because everyone (or most people), would be buying them. Like how they cured (I forget, was it polio?), many, many people lost their jobs because of that.

Sarah Frost - October 7, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
No, I don't think xe should be banned for not being good at either noticing netspeak mocking or, y'know, science.

Some brief spelling/grammar commentary to assist you:

1) Paragraph breaks help.
2) An ellipsis (used to signify a break in writing) has three dots. At most only four dots should be used in a row for an ellipsis followed by a full stop.
3) Deathshallcome is a name and as such should be capitalised, particularly at the start of a sentence.
4) There is a difference between "your" and "you're". "Your" is possessive; "you're" is a contraction of "you are".
5) Try to capitalise ALL sentences.
6) Your fact that one herd of cows somehow produces more than all the cars on earth is stupid. Sorry, that's not spelling and grammar, but if you read what you were typing you would notice it was stupid.
7) Europe is a place name. It should be capitalised.
8) Propaganda has only one 'o'.
9) Aren't has an 'e' and an apostrophe, and if you're American, then you are one of the largest polluting countries per person (link). Likewise, 'don't' includes an apostrophe.
10) Capitalise Al Gore's surname.
11) 'Fluorescent' has nothing to do with flour. Also, there are means of properly disposing such lightbulbs.
12) I've is an abbreviation of "I have" and therefore has an apostrophe.
13) Your fact about most democrats wishing something downright impossible (switching overnight) is also just plain stupid. Cite your sources.
14) Isn't also has an apostrophe.
15) Mileage has two 'e's.
16) Research. Learn real science.

I'm sure I'm not perfect, but I do hope this little tutorial has helped! :D

Alexis - October 7, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
Ya know most people don't know how to spell certain words and really don't care about capitalization, to tell ya the truth I don't know how to use my apostrphies right. I don't pay attention in LA class like everyone else does because grammer doesn't matter to me. Why does it matter?

Sorry for sounding rude, but I just don't get it? I am not being rude, if you think I am I'm not. Some people are different. I don't so I am trying to learn, but the class is too boring. I'd rather be in Biology.

Grammar matters because a common language properly used is the way to communicate clearly, Alexis; Atomicnewt's grammar matters in particular because xe's neglected to bring the F7 to his own prose while telling me to look to mine.

I'm sorry that my grammar is wrong, but I was typing quickly while switching between my Windows machine and working on my Linux machine. I apologize. Deathshallcome, I feel really offended that you would turn your view as such over a little difference in political views, but I respect your decision. Ms. Frost, why do you say my science is wrong? Is it not true that some facts in An Inconvenient Truth where disproved? Please, explain to me the flaws in my science. Also, I'm not familiar with the whole "F7" thing, please explain. I also happen to know that there are ways of disposing Gore's light bulbs, but most people don't want to pay for that service. I also thought that fact sounds stupid but it's true that one herd of cows outputs more, methane is the only thing I can think of off the top of my head, than all the cars on the planet. Also, volcanic eruptions output more of the same gases vehicles release in amounts equal to years of driving.

Re: An Inconvenient Truth: Overall, valid.

Re: the herd of cows more dangerous than all the cars on earth? That's only if you define "herd of cows" as "all the cows on earth". The average cow produces 0.4 of the average car. If true (ie. if accurately measured), environmentalists recommend more vegetarianism and more trees to reduce the number of cows and their effects. (I don't go for vegetarianism myself, but having fewer children would be a good idea with all the resources we use.)

We can't fix some things about the environment, and we can fix others. It's just plain delusional to imagine that we humans have done nothing to the world.

Re: going into space. I'm going to be positive here: global warming might be bad, but it doesn't mean that the entire planet is going to blow up or "be destoried", as you said. It's survived asteroids slamming into it, it can survive us.

Of course, that doesn't mean that I'm not trying to reduce my ecological footprint.

Cows could be one cause of Global Warming, but not the only one. I have been studying farming and it saids in my books that Canada, Australia and New Zealand have cattle to use for beef. You can't forget about dairy cattle. But let face it, there are way more people then cows in the world and lots of people have cars.

black and gold dragon - November 17, 2007 03:50 AM (GMT)
actually i am worried about our planet too. my band teacher is sick because of the pullotion in the air. he has been in and out of school. i am practicly crying. i pray for him every day. my prediction is coming true we will destroy ourselves! cant you see it! we fight each other and destroy land and water! i'm not saying that i am a person who is always worried but now its seriouse. we will die! but i dont want to die young. the world could die tommorow, doubt it, but it's possible. or the next day. i agree with dsc the world wont last forever. soon it and everything we have created will be gone unless we do something. we wont be remebered only the satalites. and i dont want to destroy planet after planet. we must do something!

Astrala - December 16, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
well said black and gold dragon. and good work dsc for starting this topic. i'm glad someone is noticing. i'm a big environmentalist my self. i've actually been a member of my school's environment group since year seven. (my primary school didn't have one. i tried to start one in year 4, but only my two best friends showed up.)

not that long ago, i was on a bus up to marybourough for a hpv event. looking out the window, i was very upset with what i saw. the fields were dry and bare, the bushlands dusty, trees drooping, river beds dried up, hardly any animals. it made me want to cry. :(

and that is just one part of the country, just a small part of what is happening and what could hapen. it's not just ourselves we have to worry about, we also have to consider what this could mean for future generations. "we can deny our history and our heritage, but we can not escape responsibility for the results." edward murrow.

i'm a part of my schools HPV team and each year we participate in the racv energybreakthrough. one of the goals of this event is to discover and encourage alternatives to petrol and other fossils fuels by using renewable energy and pedal power. (HPV stands for human powered vehicle, in case anyone is wondering.)

i have heard people say we are more advantaged then some of the older civilisations. how? because we have all these great gadgets that are said to make things easy but are doing a lot of harm. because we have become to dependant on technology. the ancients only used what they needed, and they gave back. the earth provided for them, and they honoured her in return. these days, we take more than we need, with out a thought of giving back. these droughts, greenhouse gas, natural dissaters. they are signs. the earth is crying out for help. we can't ignore it any longer. she has done so much for us and is still doing so, but she is weakening. we need to help her. we need to show that we care and help her to regain her strenght, so she can continue to renew and provide for us. the cycle is being thrown out of balance. we can fix it. we must. i may be sounding like a tree hugger or something but this is serious. Mother Earth has done so much for us. now it is our turn to give back.
