A/N: My main character will appear like a Mary sue according to Sarah Frost's Litmus test, however, it is only a fun piece tieing my pre-existing character on another forum into the DB universe, and doesn't truly represent what I would take as a character in the DB universe.

Prologue

The noise of the wind whistling through a vent broke the eerie silence of the temple beneath Penn Stables. Mortis wore an expression of concern while he checked, rechecked, and checked a third time what his scanners were telling him. Behind himself he heard the elevator slide open to let Artha and his friends raced in on their dragons. Mortis turned from the vid screen to face them as they ground to a halt before him.

"I'm glad you came," Mortis said calmly, his concern surprisingly apparent even though only his mouth was visible under his helmet.

"Of course Mortis." Artha asked as he dismounted from Beau. "What's the problem?"

"I'm not sure," Mortis said, turning back to the vid screen indicating that was where he wanted their attention too. A large pink circle floated on the screen somewhere in the wastelands. Mortis pointed at it as he began his explanation. "This energy reading appeared about an hour ago. According to my scans it's an energy source unlike any we've ever seen before."

"What does that mean?" Kitt asked.

"I can't say," Mortis replied, facing the blue haired dragon racer. "I'm also picking up large traces of Draconium energy from that spot, but it too is unlike anything I've ever seen before."

The teenagers all looked at Mortis with the face they usually reserved for Parm's often too-intellectual ramblings.

"What's he's saying," Parm started. "Is that.. What are you saying Mortis?"

"He's saying we need the Dragon Booster," Artha replied. "RELEASE THE DRAGON!"

The wastelands existed outside Dragon City. Few ever ventured lightly into those areas. All sorts of unknown creatures have been rumored to live outside the vast Dragon City. Following his duty as the Dragon Booster, Artha raced with Beau into those mysterious wastelands towards the co-ordinates Mortis had given them.

"Uh, Guys. Are you sure this is the place?" Artha asked with his finger pressed against the helmet.

"Positive Artha. Whatever it was should be right where you are now." Parm's voice replied over the built in intercom.

"Well, I'm seeing nothing Parm."

"I don't get it. It should be right there."

Just as he was about to give up, Artha caught a glimpse of sunlight reflected off of a fragment of what appeared to be a metallic substance. On instinct Artha tried to use Beau's mag energy to get the object, but the mag stream wouldn't fire as though whatever the metal was made of had absolutely no Draconium in it at all.

"Hold on guys." Artha said hopping down from Beau's back. "I think I've found something." He walked over to the reflective object and picked it up.

"What is it?" Parm asked.

"I don't know. I'm bringing it back. Maybe Mortis can figure it out." Artha grabbed the token he'd found and set off with Beau back towards the temple.

"I don't know what to say," Mortis said looking over the pink artefact. "It's clearly some kind of draconium, but it doesn't match any of the 13 known colors."

"Could it be some new experimental gear or something?" Kitt asked.

"It's possible, I suppose" Mortis replied. "But that doesn't explain why Beau was unable to mag it to himself."

"What now Mortis? What does this mean?" Artha asked.

"I can't say right now. But it's getting late. You four should be getting some rest. You've got a big race tomorrow."

"Yes Mortis," They all said in unison, turning to leave the temple.

Oooh, very descriptive and interesting. I'm assuming this takes place before the Return of Drakkus?

Ohh yes. Sorry. I haven't decided exactly when, but it is definitely set before "The Return of Drakkus"
