Chapter 1

I floated in the darkness, was I dreaming. My white armour still covered my body. I remembered that Grim’s energy drain whip was draining all of my strength. I glanced around, there seemed know one here with me. Maybe I was in hell, but hell has fire everywhere. This place only had darkness, which was worst in my opinion. A pair of big red eyes shone through the darkness. I waved my arms all over the place, to see if I could get away, but I didn’t move an inch. The red eyes came closer and closer. I heard some snarls and I looked around. I saw four dragons by my side. Their eyes all glowed; one had red eyes another one blue the next one brown. The last one had white eyes. Were these dragons my friends? The dragons snarled and they all realised a powerful energy. The energy hit the eyes and it disappeared. The mag energy of the white eyed dragon was light gold. The dragon stepped out of the darkness and showed its self, it was Storm in fighter form, but who were the other dragons.

Storm walked up to me and lowered his head, “Come, Wind Booster we still have a battle to win.”

My jaw dropped, Storm just spoke pain old English to me. The darkness started to fade and so did the dragons. I could see pavement and I could hear dragon growls. I was back in Squire’s End; I don’t think I even left in the first place. I saw that the whip was still attached to my arm. I reached for it with my other hand and with all of my strength I pulled on it. I whip came off with a snap.

“Impossible,” hissed Grim.

I slowly got to my feet. I couldn’t keep steady; I guess this was the closest thing to being drunk.

“Leave this place, how,” I said weakly.

Storm let out a snarl and pushed Reaper to the ground. The black dragon gripped the pavement with his sharp claws and quickly steady himself.

“You’re forgetting that you are out number.”

The two black dragons drew closer around us. I kicked my staff back into my hands and barely caught it. I started to spin the staff in the air, but that cause me to loss my balance and I fell back on my butt. Storm stood beside me and showed his teeth, but I knew he didn’t have the strength to back up his threat. The black dragons continued to come closer and closer. A loud roar flooded sky. The black dragon stopped approaching and looked at each other.

“What are you doing,” snarled Grim, “tear them to pieces.”

The roar sounded again, louder this time. The two dragons seemed to forget about their orders and took off down the street. Reaper magged on his rider.
“It seems you have allies,” hissed Grim.

Reaper turned and ran in the direction that the other dragons did. I looked at Storm, if that was our ally, what was our enemy?

The Great Grey - November 4, 2007 04:34 AM (GMT)
Me too :D. I don't really have a good reason not to write. The worst comment that I even got was "you spelled something wrong", which is a good comment in my books because it helps other people understand my story. Sorry I haven't posted another chapter in awhile, I have been busy (Playing Digimon Dawn, watching Heros that kind of busy). I had this chapter done, I think after I posted the first one, but I like a said before I like to give the chapter a good stare before I post it.

Since Arrow gave Piper a Bone Mark, I will write a little silly part, just because I can.

Storm walked through the dark cave. green lights lit the way. There was a word on the street that there was a green bone mark in this cave. Storm stopped at a dead end and I hopped off of him. The was a box, so I opened it up. A green fist glowed at the bottom. I picked it up, "this guy must have been pretty ugly to have a hand like this." Storm rolled his eyes. I flipped the bone mark around, "and 2d."

Okay now back to the Story

Chapter 2

I sat on my butt and looked at the dark sky. Storm lowered his head to see if I was okay.

“I’m okay,” I said with a smile, trying to hide the fact that I wasn’t sure I was able to get up again.

Storm nudged my right arm on his head and helped me to my feet. Slowly we walked around a corner. I reached for my amulet and pulled it out of the gantlet. The bright flash of white light came in a blink of an eye, but soon faded. I put the amulet around my neck and tucked it into my racing jacket. I climbed into Storm’s saddle and he walked out into the street. I heard something coming down the street, but I couldn’t make out what it was. The sound started to get clearer, it was laughter. A flickering light came closer and closer. Storm growled and I gripped the handles of the saddle hard. A black shape smacked right into us. Storm fell to the ground and so did the black shape. Something hit the pavement and I saw what it was, a stick with a flame on the end.

“No,” howled a voice.

Somebody picked up the stick and held it to his face. The flame revealed a face with red spiky hair with orange streaks.

The boy wiped his head with his sleeve, “I am glad that my flame didn’t go out.”

Storm rose to his feet and so did the black shape. The thing growled, but its growl seemed louder then normal.

The boy smiled, “Cool it Scorch.”

The flame moved toward us and we saw the black shape, it was the red dragon with two mouths. Even though I saw the dragon before on the race track it still made my heart skip. The boy climbed on to his dragon.

“Sorry about knocking you over,” he said, “I am Pyro by the way.”

“I’m Piper Penn and that’s my dragon Storm,” I said. “What is with that flame of yours?”

Pyro looked at the flame and then at me, “you haven’t met a Pyromaniac have you?”

I looked at the flame, “if you are going to start a fire, I am going to stop you.”

Pyro laughed, “don’t worry; I don’t go around saying ‘Burn BURN’ all the time. I just like how the flame looks.”

“Oh did you dragon roar a few minutes ago,” I asked.

Pyro looked at me and shook his head, “sorry, Scorch didn’t make a sound, but I heard it too. It must have been a really big dragon.”

“Piper,” called a voice.

Scorch growled and opened his top mouth. A blue dragon stopped beside Storm, it was Telum.

“Chaz, what are you doing here!?” I asked.

“I was about to ask you the same thing,” said Chaz. He looked at Pyro oddly, “don’t tell me, the Dragon Olympics are on already?”

“Chaz, this is Pyro the maniac,” I said hoping that Pyro wouldn’t mind how I introduced him.

Pyro held his stick high in the air, “nice to meet you Chaz. Well I got to go, the night is young.”

Pyro put Scorch into a run with the flame leading the way.

“Well Piper I have to admit, you make weird friends,” said Chaz.

“I really don’t know if that is a good think or not,” I said.

“Well I will walk you home,” said Chaz, “if that is okay with you.”
I smiled, “of course it is.”

Telum and Storm started to walk side by side down the street. I glanced at Chaz, I had kept the secret about being the Wind Booster from Chaz all this time, it just didn’t seem right. What about if I died and Chaz would be wondering, “where has Piper gone too?” Okay, maybe I was getting a bit ahead of myself, but it was still one of those things that always frighten me to death, even more then Scorch’s two mouths.

“Chaz,” I swallowed, “I’m the Wind Booster.”

Pyro was actually character that I had to make for school. He is pretty much going to be my "Lance."

The Great Grey - November 18, 2007 05:15 AM (GMT)
Next Chapter is up. I changed the "Pairings" in the story, but I don't think it really matters since all of the characters are made by me.

Chapter 3

Chaz stopped Telum in his tracks. Storm cocked his head up and blinked a couple of times, as if trying to come into grips in what I had said. Chaz leaned on the back of the saddle, in what seemed to be a very casual position.

“So, it was you who took care of the Dragon Eyes and Grim,” said Chaz.
I started to feel hot and sweaty, “Chaz, I am no hero, believe me,” I said. “All the battles I have won, it was all luck.”

“And you didn’t trust me, I thought we were friends.”

At that monument, it felt like Chaz was pushing me into a corner that I could not get out off. I knew why Chaz felt the way he did, trust was a very important thing between friends and our friendship could be broken because of it. I had to get out of that corner.

“Chaz, I the reason that I don’t tell you is because I thought you would think of me differently,” I said quietly.

Chaz smiled, “know matter what you do, or what you become, you will always be the same Piper to me. Excepted you get to wear drac armour; I always wanted to ask how heavy it is?”

I smiled and put Storm into a walk, “It is not that heavy.”

Chaz made Telum follow, “you can barely carry a dragon saddle,” he laughed.

“I still don’t why they make them so heavy in the first place.”

Storm chuckled and so did Telum. I was glad that Chaz was still going to be my friend, even after the secret I kept from him. Maybe I could win this war, with Chaz by my side.

“Telum and I will race you to your place,” said Chaz.

Before I could reply, Telum took off down the street with his claws hitting the pavement loudly.

“No fair,” I yelled.

Storm ran after Telum as fast as he could, but speed was Telum’s strong point, it wasn’t Storm’s. The lights flicked when we past under them. I saw Roger and his dragon standing under a motion detector light. Ravage didn’t have a visor covering his eyes. I guess they were standing so still that they didn’t set it off. Telum avoided the two easily, but when Storm and I went by, his tail swung out towards them, causing the light to go on. I heard a howl from Ravage and Roger cursing something, which I didn’t even try to catch. We started to reach Mid City; I knew this because I couldn’t hear the sound of rats scrambling out of the way anymore. Storm started to close the gape between Telum. He quicken his pace and even waved his tail back and froth to try to get some more speed. We finally caught up to the two. Storm and Telum ran side by side.

“Come on, boy,” said Chaz with a smile, “lets show them want we can do.”
Telum nodded his head and ran even faster leaving Storm and I in their dust. Storm let out a whine; I bet he felt kind of out done by Telum because the blue dragon wasn’t even going his fastest. I started to see the stables.

I gave Storm a pat on the side of his head, “we will get them next time.”

The Great Grey - November 25, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
Here is the nex chapter, but before I post it, I am going to show you something else first. I since I am writing a future story, I thought it would be fun to write a past story as well. It would be very far back into the past when gold dragons were just appearing. Of coruse to do this I have to make a new batch of OCs, but I think it would be still be fun. Here is prologue of my new fanfic. Tell me what you think of the start and I might make a writing topic.

The flames raced across the floor, eating everything its path. I hid in a corner of the room, hopping the flames wouldn’t find me. What had I done to be hated by all of the villagers and even my own father? Tears ran down my face and splashed onto the wooden floor. The flames drew closer and closer. I screamed as the flames started to lick my skin. I ran out of the corner to the back door, maybe I could escape. My skin was turned a dark red. I jumped up for the door handle, but I was not tall enough to reach it. I took a couple steps back and slammed the door with all of my might, but it wouldn’t move. I rubbed my left shoulder and let out a cry. Was I going to die? The flames came closer and some of them climbed up to the ceiling. I got onto my knees. I started to feel dizzy and I looked at my hands. The five small fingers I was used to seeing were changing. They were combining together to form three sharp claws. Soon three claws came from my shoes, but instead of breaking them, the shoes just disappeared. I looked at the claws that were once my hands; I knew why everyone hated me now. A golden tail sprouted from my behind and my face became slender with two horns. The spinal galaxy mark on my head, which my parents told me it was a birthmark, turned black and was in the center of my new head. I got onto all fours and ran at the door again. This time the door broke apart. I stopped and turned around. The building that I had grown up in fell to the ground. The flames glowed brightly as it burned the rubble. Something flew at me, so I quickly jumped out of the way. An arrow hit the ground. The golden head of it glowed brighter then any flame. A group of men gathered around with torches in their hands.

“There he is,” said a man.

“I can’t believe, my own flesh and blood could be a Dragcoon,” said another man.
I knew that voice was my father’s, but I never heard as much anger in it as I did today.

A woman came forward, “it doesn’t have to be this way: he’s just a boy.”

My golden eyes sparkled, maybe my mother could make things right.

“Was a boy,” said my father, “he is diseased and diseases can spread.”

Not wanted to wait for answer, I ran from the group. More arrows rained from the sky. I dodged each arrow that came down at amazing speed. I don’t think I have ever ran this fast in my whole life. Arrows stopped chasing me. From what I heard from my father, our village mined for something called Gold Draconium and weren’t the fighting types, but that was all in the past now. My own village wanted to kill me and I was alone in a very cruel world.

Okay the word Dragcoon, I made up. I was going to use Dragoon, but people might get confused.

How lets get back to the Next Generation: The Call For Allies.

Chapter 4

Morning could have come later, well for me anyways. The back of the track was filled with people and dragons. I stopped and looked around, I was so tried that I wasn’t sure where I was going. Storm looked in the direction of the Penn Racing Crew tent and pushed me to it. I walked into the tent and sat on a chair. I put my head on the table in front of me and closed my eyes. Maybe I could catch a few zzzs before my race started. I heard rustling behind me and then a yawn, I guessed Storm was going to have snooze too. It was still hard to believe that Artha and Beau, back in the day, did racing and fighting evil on a daily basis. They must have a coffee on a daily basis too. I smiled and drifted into a very light sleep. I heard a snap and I bolted from my sleep, which caused the chair I was sitting on to slowly fall backwards with me in it. I flail my arms trying to get some balance that I never had, but landed with a thud. Storm awoke from his nap with a start and walked over to see if I was okay. I grabbed his chin and he pulled me up to my feet. I heard another snap that made me jump. I looked around the corner of the tent, to see if I could see what was making that sound. Storm looked around the corner as well. I saw the James, Roger and the rest of the Dragon Eyes. James’s dragon, Drakkus stood near by. James had his energy drain whip out, that must have been the cause of the sound.

“Why do we have to enter the Horn of Libris race,” asked Roger, “not like we can win the Horn of Libris.”

James gave Roger a cold stare, “why should it matter, a race is a race.”

Roger crossed his arms, “I just saying we should go for bigger things, instead of these pointless things.”

The crew looked at each other and nodded their heads. Drakkus snared and showed his teeth, he didn’t seem fond of where this chat was going to.

James patted Drakkus head, “I am leader of this crew and no one will ever take that away from me. Roger, you are going to race with me in the Horn of Libris or else.”

James cracked his whip to show that he meant business. Roger nodded his head and walk by, bumping James’s shoulder as he went. The rest of the crew left and James and Drakkus were the only ones left. James let out a sigh and slowly turned his head in my direction. I quickly pulled myself into the tent and shoved Storm in with me. I stood completely still, hoping that James wouldn’t walk any closer. I started to hear the sound of footsteps getting softer and softer. Storm looked outside of the tent and nodded his head. I guess it meant that James was gone.

I walked out of the tent, “that was close wasn’t it boy? Now for the really question, why did we come here we can’t race without a partner in the Horn of Libris.”

Storm sat on the ground and looked up as if he was deep in thought.

“I got it,” I said, “Chaz can help us out. He’s a great mag jumper.”

I ran out of the tent to see if I could find him. With Chaz’s blue hair, he would be easy to spot. I saw Telum standing outside of the Inner Order tent and where there was Telum, Chaz was sure to follow. Telum looked at me with his blue eyes and then looked at the tent and growled.

“What is it?” asked Chaz. He then spotted me, “hi Piper, what’s up?”
“Could you be my partner for the Horn of Libris?” I asked.

Chaz’s eyes sparkled, but quickly faded, “sorry, I got to race for the Inner Order.”

“Oh, that’s fine,” I said, “I can at least watch you.”

“Yea, I got to go to the track see you later.”

Telum magged Chaz on to his back, so his rider gripped the back of the saddle. The blue dragon ran off to the track. I watched them go. I was disappointed that Chaz couldn’t be my partner, but he had responsible else where. A bowl of popcorn, passed by my face. I jumped back as if that popcorn was going to take my eyes out.

“Jumpy, aren’t we,” laughed a voice.

I looked to the side and saw Pyro, snacking on his popcorn.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“You and I are in the same boat, so we can be partners,” said Pyro.
“What do you mean? I barely know you and I don’t want to drive your dragon.” I trembled at the thought about those two sets of jaws.

“I could drive your dragon and you could mag jump. I couldn’t mag jump to save my life and you’re a Penn, you got to be a master mag jumper,” said Pyro.

I smiled nervously, I had only mag jumped in Storm’s fighter form, never his race form.

“I don’t know,” I said.

“Come on, we will split the winnings fifty, fifty and you can have my jiffypop.”

Pyro made his eyes very big and partly water to give off that classic “puppy eyes” look.

“Deal, does that popcorn have extra butter on it?”

Pyro blinked his eyes a couple times and nodded his head. I guess that look gives strain on the eyes. He gave me his popcorn and I popped a bit into my mouth.

This has to be my longest chapter ever.

arrow - November 25, 2007 03:33 AM (GMT)
i won't think this chapter is your longest, it looks the same size as the others

about that prologue, it would be very interesting if it became a fanfic
