Post here what job you'd like to have when you get older. We did this in class today and I'm going to be an actress!!!! Well, my drama teacher says I'm a psycho on stage, so I assume that's a good thing... :plot:
Anyway, what about the rest of you?

For a while I wanted to be a CGA accountant. I'd do that, but accounting is a tad boring. Then I wanted to be a website designer. Then I threw that out the window too and decided on computer animator. I already know the college I want to go to for that. :faint: Ah, tuition!

why does the future have to be so close <_<

At first, when I was like 9 years old, I wanted to be an astronaut or work with NASA. But now I want to get into the Medical field. with this experience, I will know somethings about the human body, the immiune system, and so on. (the kinds of things I learned from my mom) She was a nurse.
I was looking at some medical careers, and I decided to become a Pharmacist-D. Not the kind of pharmacist at Walgreens, I want to work in a hospital.

I would like to try out as an actor, especially in comedies/parodies. ^_^ Perhaps it's due to my wacky and comedic personality that I exhibit sometimes.

Future Marine Biologist here! I am lookin for study in the lab and then hopefully once in a while gettin to the bottem of the ocean for a change of pace. At first when I was a little kid I wnted to be an Entomologist(Bug Scientist) then I chose Herpetology(Reptiles) and then I decided on Cetology(Study Of Marine Mamals such as Dolphins and whales) Now i am leaning tward Invertabrate Marine Biology. Coral Reef would be my specialty. BTW did you know that a new species of Coral was discoverd 6000 feet (Just under 2000 meters) below the surface of the ocean!?!?!? It is located in a fjord off of Norway. Pretty Cool eh?

I would probably be an Actor, well at least everyone in my class thinks I should. I can make them laugh ever lesson, I even get encores, ovations and congratulations from classmates and teachers.
Though acting might be fun I would love to do anything with animals. Mainly reptiles. But I would make a bad computer genius either. LOL.

First I wanted to be a palentologist, because when I was in kindergarden, I've always loved dinosaurs (generally, I prefered big creature over smaller ones)! Then, I wanted to be a zoologist. But now I want to be a filmmaker, particularly animated films of all kinds! I LOVE animated films, wether it'd be 2-D or 3-D, and I always wanted to make my own to share with the world. Maybe in my spare time, I'll be a voice actor or doctor... ;)

I've had many dreams over the course of my life. Paleontologist, teacher, astronaut, video game designer...

One of the things I would love to do now is go into music. I play bass clarinet and bari sax, and play at a professional level. Right now, actually, I am playing the in pit orchestra for our school's musical, and that is all professional-level music. I could not imagine a day going by without playing.

But that is no longer my goal. As much as I love my music and my clarinet, I have found a different calling. Genetics. Oh, how I love nucleotides. DNA intrigues me. Creating new things, helping people... it's all so amazing. Oh, and all of you can rest assured, I will bioengineer a Dragon. I already have a plan! Now I just need monies and a doctorate...

Let's see. I first wanted to be a paleotologist, then a writer, then an egyptologist, and now I'm also interested in graphic arts. I think I'll be a part-time writer and then either be an egyptologist or do something wth graphic arts.... I know enough that I could probably be really good at graphics. Man. I'm so close to college.

For those of you still thinking about what you want to do, my advice is to pick something you enjoy, but also make sure it has a career path so you can be successful in the future. Once you have an idea of what you want to do, start studying and working towards it now. You can never have too much of a head start in your career, so don't wait for college to begin. This is especially important if you want to do something for which there aren't that many jobs.

For example, there are a lot of people out there who want to be animators at Pixar, but Pixar doesn't employee all that many people. I've been to visit their site, and the building is small. And like most companies in the entertainment business, they're pretty merciless when it comes to lay-offs. Once a project ends, if they don't have another project ready to go right away, they lay-off the extra people. Only the best of the best get in to a place like Pixar, and only the stellar people will be retained for the long term. So if something like this is what you want to do, then you can never start studying towards this too soon.

If you're not sure what to study to get ready for a particular career, then visit the web sites for companies that hire that type of work and look through their job postings. This will tell you right away what types of skills they're looking for.

Another piece of advice I'd offer is to pick an area to live where there are multiple employment choices. A dream job in a one-employer town can turn into a nightmare if that company tanks. If there are multiple employers around, then you've got choices and if you're really good at what you do, then they will compete for you.

Also, don't stagnant. As you go along, you should be planning on keeping your skills up to date. This is particularly true if you're in any kind of technology area. The last thing you want is to be turning 40 and find that the kids coming out of college have more skills than you. If you let this happen, you won't be employed for long because companies know they can pay college kids a lot less. I've seen this happen to people in my field and it's not pretty.

You can never start gaining skills for your career too soon. If you're not yet sure what you want to do, then try several things that interest you. Start studying and learning and see which ones interest you the most.

Good luck with your career! :cookie:
