Title: Square Enix Games
Description: Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts etc.?

Brightclaw - September 10, 2007 11:51 AM (GMT)
So, I was wondering if any of you guys play Square Enix games, such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Drakengard etc.
I'm currently playing through 'Final Fantasy Dirge Of Cerberus' and 'Final Fantasy III' for DS.
I've completed Kingdom Hearts II, but I'm stuck on Sephiroth. I'm also stuck on Dragon Maleficent on KHI.

If you haven't played on Drakengard and you're a Dragon Fan, which most of us probably are, I highly reccomend buying it. It's a really good value game, I got mine for £10 at PC world, and I tell you what, it's brilliant.
As with all Square Enix games, the graphics are fantastic.

So, yeah. Final Fantasy? Kingdom hearts? Drakengard?
Any of you play?

Below are some pictures from the individual games.

I can't find any decent screenshots for Drakengard, but you can visit the official website via Google.

I watched my older sibbling play the really old Final Fantasy on the Super Nintendo, but I never played any of the Final Fantasy, because they moved to Sony. Chrono Trigger will always be the best RPG in my eyes. Chrono Cross, not as good.

Burnout Beau - September 12, 2007 10:34 AM (GMT)
I played FF7 and FF8 and finished them both. Still finds FF7 the best.

I always thought of playing KH but just can't find the time to play it.

Really? What's the story about? Is it for PS2 as well?

Penny Dreadful - September 12, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
I've played just about every FF game. I didn't finish 1 or 3 (on the DS), but I've beaten:

FF2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10-2,12,Tactics,DoC, and I've dabbled with the phone game, but it was in Japanese so, obviously, I wouldn't get far.

I generally play most other Square games: Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Valkyrie Profile series (though, I hate it), KH 1 and 2 (some Chain of Memories), Saga Frontier, Ehergiez, The Bouncer ect

At GameStop, I think we're going to start advertising the follow-up to FF12 (on the DS) soon.

It's for the PS2, yes. It's a somewhat older PS2 game though.

At the moment, I've drifted away from Square. They haven't made anything to interest me since KH2. I'm more focused on looking forward to Eternal Sonata and Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations. ^_^

Brightclaw - September 12, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
Wow, Penny Dreadful! That's quite a big accomplishment! *congratulates*

Drakengard is a PS2 game, but as Penny Dreadful said, it is one of the older ones. They've released Drakengard 2 though, which I haven't played, but I hear it's rather good.

As for the story of Drakengard, I honestly can't remember, I haven't played it in ages. But a Soldier, Ciam (?), makes a pact with the Red Dragon, because both of them are near death.
You can read the whole story on Wikipediahere
But yeah, the graphics are good, and I really got into the whole plotline, non-stop playing for me for ages.

Wow, O.O *gobsmacked*
Which would be your favourite out of all of them? Lots of people, including Burnout Beau, say that 7 is the best.

yeow! I own all the final fantasy's except online one.... I own all the original super nintendo Final Fantasy game including Mystic Quest, FF 1 for nintendo. I got Kingdom hearts. I even got the Final Fantasy for the Gameboy!

Alexis - September 12, 2007 07:34 PM (GMT)
I have played Drakanguard 2, I love it better than the first one. I own the first along with the others that go to it. Like Dragon Rage and Drakan The Ancients' Gates. But all of them even Drakanguard 2 is discontinued. Drakan you can't get becuase there is no more left. :( :( :( . But they are really drac games. :D. But I just don't know why they discontinued it when it came out. I don't get it. :eep:

And it is true about Caim. I got my Drakanguard game for $20.00, Dragon rage for 10 and Drakan for 18.69. Doesn't a girl make a pact with a male dragon in the second one as well? I don't know the name of her's but the dragon's color is black for all I remember!

Drakan is my favorite out of all the games of Drakanguard and the others. To tell you it's alot like Drakanguard. A girl named Rynn found a nesting place of a dragon a bonded with him. The dragons name is Arokh, he is a red dragon. I have pics of both. But the game is totally drac. And all you do is fight creatures. It's the second game to all four. But you play as a dragons and a human, yes you fly the dragons, control it and make it breathe four different powers! Thats cool.

I haven't played the online FF either, though I plan to as soon as I get a 360. My coworkers are bugging me about it. Plus, I've always kinda wanted a nice online game to play. (i.e. not a free one.)

Da Suga Queen - September 14, 2007 10:45 AM (GMT)
I luuuuuuuuuuuuurve Kingdom Hearts with all my heart (pun unintended) but I was a little creeped out by Chain of Memories and the fact that Marluxia and Vexen both resembled women. I quite literally thought they were both chicks and I choked on some water when they were referred to as "he."
Did anyone else think that?
I have played some of FFX and FFX-2. I really liked those two but they've stopped selling them now and I'm not allowed to buy them over the internet. :( I've also seen Advent Children the movie and I enjoyed that, although I couldn't understand what the heck was going on, but Kadaj was always screaming "MOTHER!!!!" at some green slime. Yeah, a tad weird.

I'm also stuck on Dragon Maleficent on KHI.

I can't quite remeber how I did this, but I think I summoned Tinkerbelle and went spazzy, attacking like a psycho until Tink flew away. Then I would run away into corners and just jump when the floor vibrated and wait until I could summon her again.
Hope that helps. Just summon Tink! :)

I have heard that the online on is crap because it has no basic story like the others have... also I have begun to play FF7 DoC again... I love the movies scenes on it they are the best espically when cloud fights rosso in the movie when they attack midgar!

Well, it's an online game. Those generally don't have storylines, and those that do... don't really interest me... Plus, I know a lot of people who have it. Online games are a lot of fun when you're running around in a party with your buddies.

Kay Yasha - September 15, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
I've finished KH1 and 2, ffVII and FFVIII. I found ffX boring so I quit. I've just started DoC.

I don't play online but I do roleplay FF characters. I'm Yazoo and Seifer at the moment.

I have the biggest crush on all of Organization XIII! All of them, even the ones who don't really get a part in the game. I really love Luxord- I have such a think for blonde english guys! I took so long to defeat Demyx because I just couldn't bring myself to kill that little guy. To tell you the truth, I wish Orgy XIII had won.

And just for random rantness: HOW THE HELL DID SORA KILL SEPHIROTH WITH A KEY?!!!!

Da Suga Queen - September 15, 2007 11:33 AM (GMT)
I didn't kill Sephiroth with a key. He just went BLAU!!!!!! and I exploded. It was tragic. :(
There's too many girly men in Organisation XIII for me. I'm still freaked out by Marluxia and Vexen, so I'll just stick to Riku and Sora, although Sora I've only come to like recently since he's got a cool voice now. He reminded me too much of a puppy in the original KH.

Penny Dreadful - September 15, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
Lol, you have to put in A LOT of time to beat Sephy in either game. So, of course, my boyfriend has done it just to rub it in my face. It's not really worth it. You get a short cutscene and a keyblade that's strong, but useless at that point (since you just beat the hardest boss to aquire it.).

I thought the Orginization members got an awful ending. I adored Demyx and Axel... and Xigbar... :(

Kay Yasha - September 16, 2007 12:23 AM (GMT)
I agree! Xigbar was a babe (and he killed Sora 40-bazillion times in my game) I wish there had been more cutscenes with the Orginization in them, so we could see more of their characters. (Apart from Axel, who we all know was tragicly in lub with Roxas) Their voices and the way they took on Sora tells you a bit about their characters, for example Demyx yelling 'Run away!', but with characters like Luxord all we got was 'he's a brit and a gambler'. Most of his character has been made up by the fans.

I loved the way Square Enix stuck in FF characters (although I'm still peeved that the most evil bondage gear wearing bad guy can be defeated with a KEY. Do you have any idea how hard he was to beat in FFVII? I used Red XIII, Cloud because I couldn't not use him, and Vincent. WORST LIMITBREAKS EVA!)

I really hope Reno and Rude make and appearance in one of the games, and of corse I wish the clones had been the pixies instead of Rikku, Yuna and Paine. ('Uhh, Leon's got your mother!')

Da Suga Queen - September 16, 2007 10:19 AM (GMT)
I would like to know who's nobodies they are, and how they came to be heartless. Maybe they'll do something on that in KH3, but I doubt it.
Despite my aversion to Orgy XIII, I was so sad when Axel faded away. He was cool! :(

That's exactly what I thought, Sephiroth is major bad ass, and Sora defeated him with an oversized house key! Apperently, he's much harder on KHI than KHII, this is very true.
I watched my friend attempt to beat Sephiroth on KHI and both of us ended up singing along to One Winged Angel...by which time Sora was X.X on the floor.

Oh, that happened to me many times, I got so confused when he shouted 'That's enough!' right at the begginning of the battle.
So I screamed back at him 'I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING!'
By which time, he had cut most of Sora's health because I forgot to press 'block.'
But, I'm such a sadass and sing along to One-winged angel, because I know both versions of it. In-game and AC *is bricked*

Woo, another online RPer! Nice characters to RP, I normally do Yazoo as well, but I prefer Vincent. He's so fun to RP because you can just do absolutely anything to him, and he honestly won't care.
Unless of course, it's insulting Lucrecia, then he'll just beat the hell out of you.

Ahaha, yes, Reno is just so funny, and Rude is so calm and collected. I would love to see them make an appearence in one of the games.
Did any of you notice that Xigbar's hair is a little bit like Reno's, besides the fact it's not red and overly spiky, we've got Axel's hair for that. XD

Penny Dreadful - September 19, 2007 01:51 AM (GMT)
Today we were unpacking Halo 3 at work... which we had to repackage right back... Apparently, we weren't supposed to see what happened. oops

Anyway, chatting with coworkers, I learned Square is releasing Final Fantasies 1 - 12 in a collectors set on Blueray for the PS3 . The cutscenes have been revamped (not so much the gameplay graphics), but it's on Blueray, so I suppose that might help. The set will come with an artbook, some behind-the-scenes material, and, likely, a demo of FF13.

Arthapenn - January 23, 2008 01:57 PM (GMT)
Yes, I do play Square Enix Games. I owned Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Kingdom Heart 1, and Kingdom 2. I have won all four games. I am currently playing FFX-2, and I am in the second round. I did not count how many times I have been playing the FF games. They are fun to play.
I have been a Disney fan for a long time, and I bought KH1, because of it. As I played through the game, I slowly began to like the Final Fantasy characters like Cloud, Leonheart, etc. I liked Cloud so much that I bought the Advent Children. Oh thank you so much, Kingdom Hearts!

Arthapenn - January 26, 2008 06:29 AM (GMT)
No one else want to remember this company that had made some wonderful games? Oh well, another topic that is rotting away, and adding to clotting of the board.

atomicnewt2552 - January 26, 2008 06:39 AM (GMT)
Played FF 7,8, III DS, and a little X/X-2. Can't wait for KH: Birth by Sleep and KH: 358/2 Days as well as The World Ends With You (formerly It's A Wonderful World)!
