Title: DB: Academy
Description: Advance Information

The Furox - August 23, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
Pre-Release Information for Dragon Booster: Academy

The Magna Draconis has kindly offered to share a little bit of info with us about this new phase of the series. As you probably already know, this follow-on to the original 39 episodes will consist of 26 new episodes. As it stands at the time of this posting, the story arc for these episodes has been written along with the basic premise of each episode. He'll be sending along a few things for us to see without giving away the whole story, of course. ;)

This first item is a pan background of the Academy itself. This image appears at the end of episode 39, but you can't see the whole thing in that shot. Here we get to see the Academy in all it's glory. The full sized image looks great, but it's enormous. So I re-sized and compressed it down for people who don't have high speed connections. Choose which you want to view:

The Academy - High Res - 1724 x 3060 - 1.3MB
The Academy - Low Res - 800 x 1420 - 64KB

More to come!

Crystal Wildfyr - August 24, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
I couldn't agree more with you all. What network has accepted it?

The Hydrag - August 24, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
As of yet no network has accepted it but the Magna Draconis has decided that our dedication to the show has merited some reward. I am very excited to see the rest of the info he sent us. Keep those letter going to the networks. If anyone can send a link with the e-mail connecting them to the petition and its numbers. Keep it up everyone!!!! Great Job!

Crystal Wildfyr - August 24, 2007 01:16 AM (GMT)
Yes, he is, and I am almost certain now that Dragon Booster is coming back, sooner or later! *calming down* And I love the show!

Deathshallcome - August 24, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
So do I! The show is wicked!!!!!

Airshadow - August 24, 2007 02:35 AM (GMT)
So we saved Dragon booster???????

Mari - August 24, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
That is INCREDIBLY drac!!! We must send love and flowers and chocolate and draconi-yum bars to Rob for sending us this magnificent pre-release picture!!! Holy cow, that thing is HUGE!!

I, too, am QUITE thrilled *wets pants to show understatement of happiness*, Ok, maybe WAY more than thrilled, but at any rate... I am esctatic to see spoilers! That means that they've had time to MAKE the stuff for the new season, which they wouldn't do unless there was some hope to save the show!!! :faint:    I cannot WAIT for more info!!! (Or episodes. Episodes are good.... :plot: )

I wonder how the central building stays up? It appears that it is the brown (central) building, with two others encircling it, casting the blue glow.

Deathshallcome - August 24, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
well when I looked at it the building looked like it was connected to some sort of street.... it also could be held up by draconium enegry........ :D that would be cool. I am so happy that the show is coming back not seeing db on tv has made me lose interest in Television..... at least we know it is coming back now!

Crystal Wildfyr - August 24, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
Errr... hate to burst your bubbles... but *put's head beween shoulders* not one network's accepted DB.

Deathshallcome - August 24, 2007 02:57 AM (GMT)
I know! But don't let up hope we can still win this fight! We got to convience them to take DB! If they hear that alot of people want to watch db on TV then they might take in db and air it!

Sai - August 24, 2007 02:57 AM (GMT)
OK I'm no longer speechless.
THIS IS SO DRAC, I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE INFO. I LOVE THIS SHOW. :D

If networks find out a munch of people watch DB, than they'll want to air it. For the fact that they'll become more popular. So sooner or later(hopfully sooner) networks will be fight about who should air DB.

The Hydrag - August 24, 2007 03:07 AM (GMT)
WOW all this over a picture. I cant wait to see the discussion after a real major thing gets released. I have talked to Rob and he seems just as excited about DB:A as we are. I sooooo desperatly want to the rest or at least some more info or pics. While no company has purchased the show all it is going to take is 1 CEO to like dragons or see the excellence of the new series and were all systems for another 26 eppisodes.

Ill tell him you all are sending your thanks.;-) I dont have any info from Magna Draconis so dont think Im withholding anything so only the Furox knows secret stuff.

WOW all this over a picture.

Yeah, let's not get too carried away, folks. :) As Hydrag has pointed out, no network has purchased any further episodes as of yet. However, if you've been keeping up with the news, The Magna Draconis remains optimistic about it but at the same time he can't promise anything. I reported close to a year ago now that The Story Hat was working on the story arc for seasons 4&5, so this isn't really news. They started working on it that far back since they have to have stuff to show to a network to get them interested in buying the episodes. They can't just go in and say "Buy more episodes from us," they have to show the networks what they have planned and pitch it to them. The good news to keep in mind is that Rob and Kevin wouldn't be putting this much effort in planning the next 26 episodes if they thought the situation for selling them was hopeless. So as long as they're hopeful, I'm going to be hopeful. So let's keep hoping and writing letters! And did I mention you should write a letter? ;)

Actually, I'm not privy to anything secret. I post everything I know (though I'm a bit behind on the Q&A answers at the moment due to my vacation, but that's different; hope to get caught up starting this weekend).

Oh, and don't expect any major spoilers about DB Academy. :) Rob's just going to wet our appetite. :D

SilverDragon - August 24, 2007 08:27 AM (GMT)
THIS IS MAGNA DRACONIS-SCALE DRAC!!!!!!!!

There's hope yet for more episodes, as Furox said: they wouldn't bother writing a story arc if they weren't still thinking they could sell it.

Burnout Beau - August 24, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
Wooo! Would you look at the size of that building! :eep:

I bet that building is large enough to fit an entire track inside it! All I can say is, amazing architecture stuff there!

Good to hear that there's still some progress, and hope, about DB:A!

Renesh - August 24, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
I see, I see...That brown part is the elevator section-thing and the two parts on the side are where the classrooms are...cool!

Shining-Dragon - August 24, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)

More from The Magna Draconis:

DB Academy Overview

Welcome brave competitors to the Dragon City Racing Academy! This is the place where the ancient arts meet the modern day technology of dragon racing, where heroes are born, trained and unleashed onto the Elite Class! It is also the place where the evolving story of the Dragon Booster focuses and distills into a pressure cooker of drama and competition. As it’s like the environment of high school, it’s also a place of great kid issues, problem solving and therefore humorous situations and interaction. Across a blend of existing tracks, tightly controlled academy structure and environments, and with marvelous built in set and character economies, the academy arc will deepen and streamline the Dragon Booster experience all while increasing the stakes, consequences, fun and impact of the property overall!

You have all been chosen to take the next step…deeper into the power, the mystery and the electrifying action of Dragon Booster!

ACADEMY STRUCTURES

WHAT IS THE ACADEMY?

The academy is a strict, dangerous, gladiatorial, dragon/human training center. It’s present day purpose is to teach, through a mixture of ancient techniques and new technology, the skills and knowledge needed to give young students a chance at graduating and being drafted into one of the 3 great corporate elite class teams, Saurcom, Leviacorp and Reptillico (the school has more than a 75% drop-out/wash-out rate over the 2 years spent there). Academy rules are severe and Academy justice is swift and decisive as nearly any infraction including being off the reservation without permission is punishable by suspension and/or expulsion. Fighting within the academy is controlled by the Academy Agents, like hooded and masked soldiers who have dangerous, masked Dragon Hounds at their sides.

General Academy Curricula:
  • Racing strategy, techniques, and skills
  • Battle theory, training, and matches
  • Draconium gear technology, use, construction, rules
  • Dragon breeding, training, Elite Class evolution and the elusive “dragon whispering”
  • Draconium studies (it’s properties and uses)
  • Dragon/Human history
  • Each of the 12 great houses has several specialties they teach through the head (Dragon Master) of each house and they reflect the philosophy and history of each color of draconium. Unlike the crews of Dragon City, the Houses of the Academy are even more regimented and dogmatic in their draconium tendencies and far more dangerously so.

==========================================================

My own comments:

Wow, Academy training only lasts two years. When it says pressure cooker above, they're not kidding! That must be an intense level of training to cover everything in the curriculum.

So if all 12 colors of draconium are represented as the Great Houses with a Dragon Master, then there must be an orange draconium house that's separate from Propheci and his own clique. Maybe Propheci is supposed to be a splinter group. I wonder if the orange draconium Dragon Master at the Academy knows about Propheci...

And I got to see those Dragon Hounds! :D

Hey Furox, can you get more pics from Rob, pleaseeeeeeeeee?

I only have what they choose to send me. And since DB: Academy isn't in production, there probably isn't much artwork available, except maybe some concept stuff. I'll ask though. I love seeing pre-production artwork myself. :)

i don't know if i would be able to survive for long there

Sai - September 2, 2007 12:25 AM (GMT)
Sounds just like school, other than the fact of Dragon Hounds
I think I'd be able to last there(Cyle surrvived "Tannis the Wise Acdemy" in the Blue Draconium Empior and the Acdemy Master Recomends that she atends this acdemy) I'm looking forward to hearing more of the Acdemy.

Crystal Wildfyr - September 2, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
Ohh... Ihope Moordryd and Artha get into an un-regulated fight, and narrowly miss getting expelled. Ohh, That would be so Drac!

Burnout Beau - September 2, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
Hmm, sounds like Hogwarts to me now... :P

Also sounds very intensive for the racers there. Reminds me of university... :eep:

Yes, lots of people will identify with that. Though of course, boarding schools with such structure existed long before the Harry Potter books.

And like the Harry Potter world, the Academy seems like a place where secrets are kept, and maybe a place where behind the scenes power struggles take place. Sounds like fun! :)

I knew you'd like that. :)

Well, you can talk to Propheci pretty much anytime. He's in prison at the moment, so he's not going anywhere for awhile. (At least, not until the next Prophets episode in season 4.) But yeah, having a conversation with a dragon would be pretty cool. :)

QUOTE
75% washout eh?

Yeah, it's no walk in the park, is it. And look how picky they are about who they accept. And they still have a 75% washout rate!

arrow - September 2, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
i'd still survive
just like i'm going to survive high school right now

dragon whispering sounds interesting
i wonder if you have to go to each great house
if not where would artha go? :P

If I were Artha, I'd tell the academy people that Beau is a red and (another colour, possible gold) hybrid, and get into the same house as Kitt.

The stakes are increased? Yes, that's what I want to hear! Not to mention the consequences. ;)

Deathshallcome - September 4, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
I am worried now... if the original Beau died in the past.... this might happen to beau thats alive now....... it makes me worry alot....... cuz if he does dies in the end I am not watching the show anymore.... it would be too tragic for everyone.

arrow - September 4, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
oh don't worry, the origanal beau probably died naturally
how else would he have had kids? i doubt he wouldn't have mated during the war

ditto

Deathshallcome - September 4, 2007 07:46 PM (GMT)
ya really don't know that do you arrow? thats what worrys me.... if he died to finally finish the war..... that might happen this time as well..... which I worry greatly.....

Liliwen - September 5, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think they would kill of any main characters. Armeggy maybe. Though they say the stakes and consequences are higher, I don't think they would go that far. I doubt they'll ever show blood even.

koering - September 5, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
