Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Booster, but wish I did. I also don't own Kingdom Hearts. Square-Enix does. I do own Zinen, and his dark keyblade. won't name it yet to prevent spoilers.
A/N: Dragon Booster introduction is in Chapter 2, Chapter 1 is a prolouge in the Kingdom Hearts universe.

Chapter 1: Surprise and Sorrow
-------------------------------------

Radiant Garden was chaos. The Heartless had launched a surprise campaign on the peaceful world, catching it unawares. The planet's defense system had been the only thing holding back the Heartless while every Keyblade warrior on the planet had been rallied together as a last ditch defense. The Heartless, however, made a massive strike on the defense system's main control room and annihilated it. Their following rampage eradicated most of the population, all but those gathered in Hollow Bastion. All surviving Keybladers made their way to Hollow Bastion joining in the defense of what was left of their beautiful world. Their defense was simple, Five barricades where set up in the city below the stronghold soldiers where waiting behind each. Meanwhile, all the remaining population evacuated through portals to any planet that offered help. The people expected to be fine thinking the Heartless would not make it past the fourth barricade. Even if they did, so what? The five greatest Keyblade warriors, the Five Generals of the Army, where there and no Heartless could make it through them. They where just mindlessly gathering hearts, where they not? There may have been a large host of them but they had no co-ordination.
"They're coming!" yelled the scout as he came sprinting in from his duty.
"Prepare yourselves!" bellowed the Corporal to the first band. Before long, a flood of Heartless came rushing at the barricade. While all the land based Heartless where easily repelled for a while, all the airborne Heartless made straight over the small group and headed straight for the second barricade in the distance.
"Airborne Heartless inbound! Prepare yourselves, and hit them with any spell you got," belted out the Master Sergeant in charge or Group Two. All the Privates seemed excited for this battle, although there was one who looked really nervous. Private First Class Zinen Rodel did not think he was ready. He had worked hard to get where he was, clawing his was through Boot Camp and just barely making it, but he still was not ready. Why am I not a sergeant, then I could be in the back, not row three? The warriors had formed a phalanx, ready to repel Heartless. A Flying Soldier appeared over the barricade, blasted apart by a well-aimed Blizzard. Am I ready for this?

why thank you. wikipedia is extreamly accurate when it comes to the kingdom hearts games, so if you want, check them. but just so you know, Kingdom Hearts is a fusion of Final Fantasy and Disney.

No complaints, but you said "Radiant Garden" at the start, then "Hollow Bastion" next.
I look forward to seeing Sora and Artha out-sueing each other! :D

Hollow Bastion is just one city on Radiant Garden. And Sora isn't actually involved in this story. He may come in a later story arc, but not the current one. And I hope to change Artha from a sue to someone more plausible. If only Ibanez would speak....................................must send him a message on the Wii.

'k so, I got Deathshallcome's input so, I got input from 2/3 betas, so I'm gonna post the chapter.

Chapter Two: Battle and Beginnings -
--------------------

All hell had broken loose. Screams of pain rang out, Keyblade warriors where everywhere, grouping together, after their phalanxes broke, to hold the Heartless off. Zinnen had no time to think. If it looked like a Heartless, he attacked it. He noticed a pair of warriors surrounded and leaped to their aid. He easily dispatched a pair of Shadows, then lunged at a Soldier, overstepping. The Heartless took this opening and raked its claws across Zinnen's left shoulder. He screamed in pain and lashed out, slicing the Heartless in two before it lapsed into a black mist. He helped the warriors get the situation under control then slowly made his way to the back, where the mages where, berating himself the whole way for making such a simple mistake. When a mage noticed him and cast a healing spell, Zinnen started to make his way towards the front lines. We're not gonna last much longer He thought to himself, thinking how they where getting swarmed as they where. Then disaster stuck. The barricade collapsed. Holy ****. Only then did their army's size hit Zinnen.
"Fall back! Head to Group Three" came the Sergeant's shout. Running as fast as he could, Zinnen made for the third barricade. Seconds later, a black rain began to fall on the group. Instinct kicked in then, and Zinnen ducked into a crack in the cliff face. He watched as where the rain touched Keyblade warrior, it burned through them, grief raking his brain as he watched his comrades fall, riddled with holes. Zinnen stayed in the hole as the Heartless marched by, not noticing him or just not caring, sensing the greater number of hearts ahead. That's no spell I've ever heard of he thought. Then he saw it.
Following the massive host of Heartless came a figure on foot. A tall shadow, a human, not a Heartless. What really scared Zinnen was that it had a Keyblade. No! Dark Keyblade warriors aren't real! They're a bedtime story to put children back in line! As it drew nearer, Zinnen saw him. He was tall, lean and muscular, his hair black and spiky. In a fit of rage, Zinnen jump from his hiding place and swung his Keyblade at the dark warriors neck.
" You bastard! You killed all these people! I'll kill you!" Zinnen screamed.
With a movement quicker than Zinnen could follow, the dark Keyblade warrior grabed Zinnen's Keyblade.
"Feisty aren't we? No small wonder you wield the Bonds of Flame" issued it's voice, so full of hatred that Zinnen visibly shivered.
"Who the hell are you! Why did you have to kill them all!? They did nothing to you!"
"My name is not of importance, and I kill them because they exist. You and your "comrades" are of the Light, while I am of the Dark, so naturally we are enemies." At this Zinnen ripped his Keyblade from the other warrior's grasp and slashed at him. The Dark warrior leaped back and Zinnen made to follow but found he couldn't. He looked down and found that he was sinking into a swirling vortex of darkness. As his waist went under the Dark warrior smiled.
"Be thrown across the cosmos" Then he turned away. The last thing Zinnen saw before being swallowed completely was the third barricade falling and Group Three falling before a dark rain.

Darkness...

Cold...

Falling...

With a burst of light, Zinnen was falling. A wave of gold and black light hit him, slowing his fall. He hit the ground.
"See you at the last Academy event...Stable brat" came a voice from the other side of the rock Zinnen had landed behind. Then the sound of a large creature moving away issued forth.
"What was that about?" came another voice.
"Hope dad" came a third. Zinnen slowly stood up and peeked over the rock. There was a giant black and gold lizard standing not too far from him, and what looked like a human in armor. Seeing the lizard, Zinnen let out a shout and fell back.
"What was that?" came the voice of the person on the black and gold lizard.
"It came from over there." came the other voice, to whom it belonged, Zinnen hadn't seen. As the lizard rounded the rock Zinnen scrambled back from it.
"Are you okay?" inquired the figure on the lizard.
"Who the hell are you and what the hell is that?!?!?" yelled Zinnen.
"I'm Dragon Booster and this is Beau." replied Dragon Booster, sounding confused.
"Okay, WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!?!?!?!" shouted Zinnen.
" Um, That I'm the Hero Beau chose to help him stop the Dragon-Human war, duh" Dragon Booster replied indignantly.
"Okay, so that makes Beau a dragon."
"What are you, stupid?"
"No, just dragons are bigger...wings.....breathe fire." At that Dragon Booster burst out laughing, and surprisingly, so did the dragon. While they where distracted, Zinnen made a run for it, saw a small drop and went for it. When he landed, he rolled to the side and ducked into a narrow hole in the rock face.
"Wait!" came the voice of Dragon Booster. Zinnen saw the dragon run by the hole. Where the hell am I? He pondered. He'd never left Radiant Garden, so he didn't know what the other worlds where like. I wonder how the battle's going. The Generals need to know about that Dark Keyblade warrior. There's nothing I can do about that. He slammed his fist into the wall, bruising the knuckles. I wonder how I'm going to get home, if any thing's still left when I get back. With those thoughts in mind Zinnen settled down and went to sleep.

A/N: Well, there you have it! Unfortunatly I start school tomorrow, so chapters won't be close between as these two have been. In fact, I didn't expect these two so close together, but inspiration comes when it will.

remember the Riku replica? ;) cannon characters won't appear in the current story arc. maybe in the future, but not the current arc.

Okay, I'm good then. Besides, Zinnen seems pretty cool anyway and so does your story, so I"ll cope. :)

Okay,so. I finally got a new chapter done, school's a drag and i'm waiting to hear back from Deathshallcome and Ibanez. look for the chapter soon.

Chapter Three: Questions of Boosters
--------------------

His stomach growled. Zinnen pulled himself out of his half-sleep. I need to find something to eat. He stepped out of the hole and looked at the surrounding area. He saw buildings in the distance and decided to head towards them.Ten minutes later, he finally made it to to the edge of the plateau. finally. He started looking around for anything that could be food. wonder what currency is here? Wonder if they take Munny. He saw what looked like a fruit stand. He walked over and looked at what he guessed was fruit. these are nothing like what's on Radiant Garden. He pointed at something vaguely apple-looking.
"How much?"
"Two drekkals." So they use something called Drekkals here.
"You gonna buy it or what?"
"Don't got enough on me," Zinnen said as he walked away. I'll have to get a job or something and earn some munny......er, drekkals. He saw a big, yellow dragon lumbering towards him, black and white checkered stipes on its sides, a gandola on its back. Hee-hee. taxi. taxi dragon. hee-hee.
"Get out of the way," called out the dragon's rider. Zinnen pulled out of his reverie, not realising he had stopped walking. He moved out of the way and continued on through the crowd. He noticed some sort of arena down the street. wonder what kind of sports they have here? He walked in the main entrance and went up a flight of stairs.
"Racers at the ready," blared a voice. So they got racing here. He turned around and saw the track. At the starting line, six dragons where standing, waiting to go.
"GO!" came the command, and the dragons leapt into action. Very quickly they where out of sight and Zinnen had to watch them on a large screen across the track from the stands. My god, those things are fast![/] He watched as they seemed to battle with each other using devices hovering closely above their skin, while their riders fought above them, supported on streams of energy. Two of the racers seemed to be really going at it, shooting balls of energy at each other. One was riding a sleek, purple dragon, the other a more stocky red and blue dragon. The attacks seemed far beyond what the other racers where doing, supporting themselves on the energy, shooting various energy attacks at each other. The one rideing the purple dragon, supported by its purple energy stream, shot a ball of energy at the other racer and knocked him out of the air.
"A nice move by Paynn!" bellowed the announcer. [i]Pain. that's a funny name.
"Penn recovers and races in for first!" Pen, another funny name. Zinnen saw the dragons walk off the track and decided to take his leave. As he walked away, he heard someone shout.
"Hey, wait a second!" The blue and red dragon was on his way over, his rider shouting. that voice sounds familiar, why?
"Do I know you?" Pen asked. He was wearing a light blue suit with a white jacket, burned on the rider's right shoulder.
"No, what's with the burned jacket?"
"What, you don't know who I am?"
"I'm not from around here."
"Oh! that's right! You're that guy uh, Dragon Booster said to look out for. I'm Artha Penn, racer extrodinere."
"I see," This guy's in with Dragon Booster, better be careful,"And what does Dragon Booster want?"
"To ask you some questions."
"And I if I don't want to talk to him?"
"He didn't say."
"Well then, I'm off."
"Wait, it'll just be a few questions, real quick-like. Beau, mag 'im." The dragon produced a gold energy stream and picked Zinnen up and placed him on its back. The dragon started running at a quick pace. They started in a downward direction, the city getting darker as they went.
"Okay, first, where are we going, second why can't I jump off this stupid dragon?"
"Old city, and you're mag-locked on." I was "magged" now I'm "mag-locked" so I guess this energy is called "mag-something-or-other energy, seems only reasonable since everything associated with it so far has been "mag-insert basic name here". The area they entered was dark, little light shineing from above.
"Sooo, where is Dragon Booster?"
"Just a little further ahead in a cave."
"Oh ha-ha, must trust is just building by the second."
"Whaddaya mean by that?"
"Well, let's see. First, ya kinda just mag me and run, then we go to a dark, spooky place, oh yeah! Don't let me forget that we're now going into a cave, which probably only one exit, so I can be "qustioned" by Dragoon Booster. Oh so very trustworthy."
"Ha-ha very funny." They entered a cave, the path they where on was just one of five, each leading to a dragon head sculpture on the walls. Three of the paths where broken. The dragon lifted Zinnen off its back with a mag-stream.
"I'll go get Dragon Booster, just stay here for a minute," Artha said. Zinnen watched Artha leave. Not too long later, Dragon Booster walked in.
"Gonna run away this time," He inquired.
"If I feel the need to escape. What do you want?"
"Well, to know who you are, where you're from and why your dragon with you."
"Well, in order, Zinnen, not here, and I don't have a dragon."
"No dragon, is that some kinda joke? and is Zinnen a first or last name?"
"First, and I'm being perfectly serious."
"Okay, okay. So, care to expand on "elsewhere"?"
"No, now I've answered your questions, I'm leaving." Zinnen started walking back the way he came.
"Wait, there's someone I want to see you."
"Not happening. Goodbye." Zinnen left the cave. As he walked out of the entrance, another figure stopped him. The best way Zinnen could think of him was the anti-hero to Dragon Booster's hero.
"Well look here, Dragon Loser's got a new friend."
"Very funny, and you are?"
"I'm the Shadow Booster!"
"Uh-huh, and what do you want?"
"I want to know what Dragon Boo-boo wanted with you."
"My name and where I'm from. Zinnen and I don't want to tell anyone in that order."
"You expect me to believe that?"
"No, but it's the truth. Now, I told you what you wanted to know, now I have a question for you."
"Now why would I do that?"
"'Cuz it's in your best interests to do so. One simple question. Know where I can get a job?"
"Yeah, go to Mordryd Paynn."
"The racer?"
"Yeah."
"All right. Now I'm going." Zinnen walked off thinking about these Boosters. [i]What is this, a magical circus land where a bunch of wierdos go around in armor calling themselves "Boosters" fluanting narcissism? Whatever. Better go see this Paynn guy.

GREAT chapter, really good job. I have been imagining Zinnen as a tall, brown-haired brown eyed teenager. I wonder what he really looks like... :mellow:

As much as double posting pisses me off, it's been a while, should float the thread and let people know what's goin' on. Chapter 4 is l-o-n-g! and school's really pileing things on right now, so the chap is done, just not typed or beta'd. I also want to re-write 1-3 and get the whole lot of 'em on fanfiction.net. That ends this abominative post.

I believe that my friend will post the next chap in the next few days. (If he tries to get out of it I have a few yards of rope that will help him to finish it.) Until then, please wait until he get it up. He told me that school have been taking up most of his time. Seeing as the next week is spring break, (Yay! Spring has sprung!) he will have few excuses. I resent your use of rope! I just have had four honors classes and an extra online one holding me form getting this stupid chap done! Now I can't find the stupid thing on my hard-drive. I'm gonna search it in the start menu then work on it. As a side note, my Linux box is finally up and running, ^_^ this means I don't have to use our Vista exclusivly to work on the chap. Things should speed up nicely. Now, as soon as I get a wireless card on my Linux box, I can update the fic as soon as each chap is done. Besides which, I also have an idea for another fic, super-long, but the essence of it is really good, and I seem to start thinking of that as soon as one fic thought hits my brain. As a side not, please don't ask, it has nothing to do with DB, or anything else really. It's got some Blizzard inspired content, but isn't based on anything Blizzard.
