Jane and the Dragon is a kids' series based on the books by author Martin Baynton. It's animated by Weta (the people behind the animation in the Lord of the Rings movies and Narnia,) so you know it's good. :P
The titular Dragon is . . . great. Realistically animated, well written, and a terrific character. Quite self-important (well, he's a 300 year old dragon who refers to humans as 'Shortlives'. What would you expect?) and occasionally prone to using his size and firey-breath to get his way, he's still very likeable, and quite amusing.
As for the human characters, well, my general reaction is 'wow'. I have never seen such brilliant characterisation in a kids' show. They all have their quirks and motivations, and there are no walking cliches. They are animated via MoCap, making their movement extremely realistic, and details like their hair is the best I've seen outisde a theatre.
The knights (four in total, counting the two kids) serve a rather hopless king, the kingdom is in debt, the Prince and heir apparent is even worse than his father, Dragon is quite possibly the last of his kind, and it's not all sunshine and roses.
The writing is witty, and I sometimes forget that it's a kids' show, because there's so much that seems to be aimed at an older audience.
If you're a fan of Dragon Booster then IMO you really should give this show a try. It should definitely appeal to most of you.
