Title: My Db Article For The Story Hat
Description: Their New Company Newsletter

The Furox - July 13, 2007 07:33 AM (GMT)
Just a short time ago, The Magna Draconis asked me if I would write an article for their new company newsletter. I of course immediately agreed since I want to do whatever I can to help promote them and the show in the hope that more episodes will get made, and just as importantly, I wanted to do it since they've been so nice to us by answering some of our questions and being supportive of my web site and this forum. I actually consider it an honor that they would want to include me in their newsletter. Off hand, I can't think of another such company that would include a fan written article so prominently and in their first issue. The newsletter just went out this week and I thought the rest of you would like to read it.

Rob asked me to write about how I discovered the show, why I watch, and to talk about the fan community and my web site in general. Kevin and Rob each have an article in it as well that talk about how their company approaches story development and shows. This newsletter will be read by network executives, production companies, licensees, partners, and so on. This was my best chance to date to show our enthusiasm for the show directly to the networks, so this was more than worthwhile. So I obviously put a pretty positive spin on the whole thing, but you already knew I really like the show, right? :)

This forum is obviously a very central piece of the pie for the DB fan community, so I asked LightningFlash if she would provide some quotes for use in the article to bring this point together and I'm glad to say she did and I thank her for that. I think it really helps tie things together.

The article is in pdf format and you can download it here:

Inside the Hat: The Official Electronic Newsletter of The Story Hat

(The newsletter is a little over 9 MB, so if you're on dial-up, it's going to take a little while.)

My article begins on the bottom of page 2 and is titled "Release the Fan!: How the Internet Propels Global Fan Communities." I hope you like. I wrote it with the intent of trying to make it interesting for a network executive to read. (Note there's a formatting glitch that caused about a paragraph and a half to get repeated, so just skip ahead when you hit that. There's also a typo or two remaining. Oh well.)

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope there's a network executive reading it somewhere who decides they should think about ordering more episodes.

Very nice. :) I hope the newsletter is successful.

Wow, the whole newsletter was amazing. I haven't read up as much as I should have on the show's staff, but now I know that it's no surprise that Dragon Booster turned out to be such a fantastic franchise. With people like that behind it, how could it be anything else? I'd like to buy Rob and Kevin a beer. (And that's saying something because I'm 18 and would probably get arrested for it...) Anyway, may great writing and the collective will of dedicated fans carry this newsletter on a long and fruitful journey. (Sorry about that, it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't say something legendary and dramatic right then.)

Very well written article if you ask me. I do have to wonder what would have happend if you had been just 30 seconds sooner and had missed the show. Though its probably better that we never find out.

Yeah, really! It would have been a real shame for me if I hadn't caught the show that day since I don't normally watch Saturday morning cartoons. I'm usually too busy doing other things. But I had time to kill that morning, so I flipped channels. I consider it a happy occurrence that I found the show. If I hadn't found the show, I'd be spending more time on my other hobbies of course, but I would have missed out on all sorts of fun things in this fandom.

Ditto. :) Let's hope it serves to help tip the scales in the show's favor.

Thanks for the comments everyone. :)

Hehehe! "Tip the scales!" Furox made a funny!

And as for the apparent philosophical line of discussion that's been going on:
I suppose we all wonder what would've happened if things turned out differently. If we had never stumbled upon Dragon Booster, if we had never canced upon a certain special someone, etc. Personally I wonder what I'd be doing for a career if that Navy recruiter had never called here. But I try not to let thoughts of events may have happened, distract me from those that did. (Wow that was actually pretty good! And I didn't even have to force it that time!)

That's just awesome work, Furox! Great paperwork there.

Hopefully this newsletter is great enough to convince any TV networks to buy more eppies!
