Title: Vacation Time!
Description: Going Away? Let People Know Here!
The Furox - June 16, 2007 06:37 AM (GMT)
Just wanted to mention that I'm taking two weeks vacation. I'll have Internet access while I'm gone, but won't have much spare time so you won't see me around as much. Just didn't want anyone to think I got tired of DB or the forum. (Like that would ever happen. :)) I've still got way too much stuff left I want to do yet with this fandom so I'm going to be here for a very long time. :D
If anyone else is taking a trip, feel free to post your plans here to let others know you'll be gone. Like the Birthday thread, I think we only need one vacation thread that everyone can share.
Later!

Sai - June 26, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
I'M BACK AND READY FOR ACTION. I had no access to a computer any where, but I had a great time in Calgary at the zoo.
Dragon Fanatic - July 13, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
Calgary Zoo is awesome! :) I am doing a lot of random travelling. I'm going to my grandparents farm, Calgary, camping at random lakes, and a whole bunch of other small trips that are always insanely fun! ^_^ I'm not too sure when I'm going though. Me and my family do things spur of the moment. :P
Sai - July 14, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Well I'm back from Youth camp and mon/tues-sun I'll be at my family camp.
SilverDragon - July 16, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)

The Hydrag - July 18, 2007 05:18 AM (GMT)
Im going to be gone Thursday thru Sunday because I am going to San Fransisco.
Sai - July 23, 2007 11:43 PM (GMT)
Well I got back yesterday, from family camp with a cut hand(carving 4 year old cousins name into stick he was going to use as a walking stick and knife slipped and hand got slightly stabed, but more of a small cut.), bug bites(was attacked in sleep 2 holes in camper and an open storage. Not good), and sunbrunt arms, neck, and face(hot days, swimming in river. Very fun and relaxing). Other wise it was drac and can't wait til next year.
Dragon Fanatic - July 28, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
I just recovered from the biggest sunburn on my shouder ever! It was sooo painful! :( My Mom told me I had something like third degree burns! :(
Lesson: If you take medication that says 'Stay Out of Sun' Stay out of the sun and if you put sunscreen on while you're swimming at a lake, continuely put more sunscreen on.
We went tubing and I flipped out for the first time...and it was cool!! It happened so fast! :D It took forever to get back into the tube though. The best place not to flip out of a tube...don't flip in the middle of the lake. At least the sea doo was able to give me a lift up.

The Furox - August 11, 2007 07:02 AM (GMT)
Vacation time again!
This time I'm headed out on a road trip! First stop is Salt Lake City to visit Lagoon amusement park. Then it's on to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks for a few days of hiking. Then up to Spokane, Washington to go to Silverwood amusement park and attend a roller coaster enthusiasts event. Then down to Lava Beds National Monument in extreme northern California to go cave exploring. Last stop is the California State Fair in Sacramento for another roller coaster event. Tons of driving, but it will be fun!
I'll have Internet access while I'm traveling, but I don't plan to be spending much time online. So I'll probably be posting less than normal. ;)
Back home in about two weeks! :)

Sounds like a good time. My vacation for this year was cocerts. Family Values, Projekt Revolution, & OZZFEST. I already went to Family Values on the third. My friends band (Invitro) is playing this year and I got to meet FlyLeaf, Trivium, HELLYEAH (featuring VINNIE PAUL from PANTERA). And, last but not least. My Guitar Hero...Munky from KoRn. I even got a FlyLeaf guitar pick and, an Evanescence drum stick. Next I have Projekt Revolution w/ Linkin Park, MSI, H-I-M, Saosin and more on the 18th. I will be sure to mention how that show was to.

Cool. My neck of the woods. Be sure to visit the aquarium in Monterey if you haven't been there before. It's one of the best in the country. There's also the 17 Mile Scenic Drive through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach. If you need any sightseeing advice for the San Francisco area, just ask. :)
dolphinliss - August 26, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
we're going there becasue of the aquarium. i was the one who planned the trip and that was the reasong we are going there. we are also going on a boat trip with a couple of marine biologists while at the aquarium to take some samples and other marine bioligist stuff. that is the reason i wanted to go cause(not sure if you guys already know) but i someday want to be a marine biologist. been that way ever since second grade when i started reading lots of ocean and marine mammal books and watching the discovery channel. so, i've wanted to be one for quite some time and this is the jackpot in experience leading up to that goal!
The Furox - August 26, 2007 06:25 AM (GMT)
That sounds like a great trip you've got planned. While you're in town, you might also want to visit the Steinhart Aquarium in downtown San Francisco. It's the oldest aquarium in the country. The original building is being reconstructed, but they have a temporary location open.
There's also the local Six Flags theme park called Discovery Kingdom. They're a theme park that's also a marine life park and zoo. Among other things, they offer a Dolphin Discovery program where you get to be in the water with the dolphins for awhile (though it's not cheap :)). In addition to the dolphins and an orca, they have a number of display areas for walruses, sharks, stingrays, penguins, sea lions, harbor seals and so forth. They also have people around at each exhibit to answer questions and so forth.
If you want something free to do, walk down to the end of pier 39 in the wharf area. Depending on the time of year, there are somewhere between 50 and 100 sea lions usually hanging around there.
Pier 39 is also home to yet another aquarium called The Aquarium of the Bay. It's not as good as the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but as long as you're in town... :)
Have a good trip!

Well, I went to Projekt Revolution and OZZFEST. Projekt Revolution was ok. I was only really interested in seeing 3 bands (Mindless Self Indulgence, HIM, and Linkin Park). The line up wasnt the best. The 1 thing about it that I hated was...I won tickets to the event and, when I got there. They didnt have my tickets. I had to buy a ticket to get in and, I thought they were doing this thing werre if you buy a CD you get to meet the band. And, I didnt want to miss the oppertunity to meet those 3 bands. So I had to buy a ticket. But, 15 minutes after getting my ticket...My tickets arrived....DAMN! And, turns bands werent doing meet and greets. Atleast the bands I wanted to see. But, I still had a blast. The highlite of the day was getting to go back stage and meeting LINKIN PARK. I told him I was 1 of their top street team tour captains and, they really appreciated my work. I got my Hybrid Theory EP signed. The photos I took of them during the meet and greet didnt come out but, I wasnt going to let that ruin my experiance.
As for OZZFEST. That was all the way in Pittsburgh. A 3 hour drive from where I live. But anybody that has read metal news knows that this years OZZFEST was FREE. I had to attend this historic event. I got my tickets through a pre-sale and, turns out. I was 7 ROWS AWAY FROM OZZY!!! And, unlike Projekt Revolution & Family Values. This tour had lots to do there. They had the brother's grim circus side show, free Jagermusic meet and greets with bands, win Jagermusic swag, and something else that I cant say on this forum. And, FYE was selling pre-signed OZZY CDs there. So I took the oppertunity and bought the CD. I got to meet bands like Hatbreed, the showdown, Devil Driver, Static-X, and Lamb Of God. And, this was the first time I got to go to Pittburgh. And, it was an amazing site. The Venue was even better. I have been 2 atleast 3 differant ampletheater concert venues. And, this (The Post Cazeette Pavilion). Was hands down the best venue I have been to. This place had plenty of shade, it had this tropical vibe, and, the best part is. They had TV moniters everywhere that were playing the bands the bands that were on stage. So if you had to step away from the stage at any givin' point. You can still watch the concert.
Man I love Concerts but, most of all.....I LOVE OZZFEST!!!! But, I really want to attend. The Wacken Oepn Air Festival in Germany. The Mecha Of All Metal Festivals. 3 DAYS of HEAVY METAL Music. The Woodstock of Metal. The got bands from Hard/Alternative Rock all the way to Death Metal. 1 day. I hope I can go.
cjoey97 - August 28, 2007 06:57 AM (GMT)
I'll won't be on for a few days cuz i need to revise for my examinations.

Vacation time!
I'm off for two weeks vacation in Orlando, Florida, better known as amusement park heaven!
I'll have Internet access and will be checking in from time to time, but won't be online anywhere near as much as I usually am. I'll be too busy running around theme parks all day!
While I'm gone, I'll be gathering up questions for the next Q&A round with The Magna Draconis. So you have two weeks to think up the question you want to ask and post it to the appropriate thread.
Keep the draconium fires burning while I'm gone! ;)

It's so much fun there! I couldn't go on the major rides cause I was slightly too short, but with a ponytail up, got to go on the wickedly awesome ones! Have fun! (Don't get sick! :P )
I'm trying to get on a greyhound bus to go to Ontario. Finding the prices are hard.
The Furox - November 20, 2007 05:34 AM (GMT)
Actually, that trip was in October, so I'm back now. :) It was a good trip for sure. I went to 8 different amusement parks and went on tons of rides and saw lots of shows.
And yes, I had fun, lots of fun! And no, I didn't get sick. I can ride roller coasters all day long and not get sick.

Returning "home":
I'll be off for a vacation this Sunday in Guangzhou, China and will be away for 5 days.
Apparently, I learned from my dad that that's where our ancestral hometown was and this will be the first time all of us (including my uncles and aunts) will be returning 'home' as well.
Hope to be back in the forum when I return. Hope...
The Furox - December 5, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Have a good trip, Burnout Beau. Trips like that can be fun and I hope you have nice weather for it so you can get out and see all the things you want to see. See you when you get back online! :)

Have fun! You're gonna have to PM me about it. I've always wanted to go to China.
Burnout Beau - December 15, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
Finally, BB has come back....to the forum...!
Wow, that's some trip I had to China. Pretty dramatic I'd say. :P
Firstly, I went to Guangzhou city. Guangzhou was a city in the Guangdong province. It may not have skyscrapers like New York, but man, that place was as densely populated as the Big Apple itself!
Then I head to Meizhou. Meizhou is in the Meixian province and is more of a town/village. The villages there dates back to decades or even centuries ago. I was fortunate enough to explore two old abandoned houses, which was fun (felt like Indiana Jones :D ), and they turned out to be my ancestors' (and grandma's) homes. Yes, Meixian is where my descendents lived, and my 'true' home.
Oh, and also, if you were to go to China, be prepared for meals like crocodile soup, duck's tongue, fried mantis shrimp (taste like prawn), deer meat and octopus. Oh, did I mention that there's also dog meat?... :eep:
Lastly, there's one similarity I noticed about Guangzhou and DB:
Their highways are like dragways! ^_^ I mean, the highways have pillars that raised the road up a few storeys high and they cross over each other! Isn't that cool?
