So this is just for curiousity,
I have Dial-Up, fastest Dial-Up you can get.
The Hydrag - June 3, 2007 05:40 AM (GMT)
Wireless broad band for me. Its pretty sweet but not too much of an improvement over really fast dial up.

I have broadband that runs around 4 megabits/sec. I have it hooked into my own wireless router to distribute the signal around the house. It also serves as a firewall to keep potential hackers off my home network and well away from my machines.

4MB/s Wow, that is a distant dream on my end of the world, unless you are made of money.
Well I have the 256kB/s broadband adsl line with a wifi router. Fun.

mine usally only goes around 50kbps, and its fast dial-up.
*still to slow for me, still better than most dial-up that goes around 8kbps*

The fact that I live in Silicon Valley helps a lot. :)

Wifi is awesome! Did you know that when people first starting proposing the idea of wireless networking many allegedly learned people in the field said it was "impossible". They said that you'd "never" be able get data through in the face of random interference, cross talk, multiple transmitters and so forth. The main factor that contributed to the success of wifi was when the FCC opened up that portion of the frequency spectrum so that anyone could use it for free. That really spurred companies to try and make it work, and I'm glad that they did.

I have a Fiber Optic connection that runs about 100 mps, the fastest you can get here right now. Though for me everything comes through the Fiber Optic; TV, Internet and Phone ect.
The Furox - August 27, 2007 05:28 PM (GMT)
Ooo, cool! Fiber's not available yet where I live, but it should be within the next year or two. I can't wait!

I'm surprised its even available here in little old Maine, since we are the last state usually to get anything advanced in the technology sector. :faint:

I got good old high speed internet with a router (sp?). The router is good so the interent can move down to my Wii, but if my older sibiling has his laptop on, the inerent moves like a snail.

Bedouin Pirate - August 28, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
Supposed to have a 20meg connection, but it's running poorly (and the ISP don't seem to want to do anything about it). It' varying between 0.9meg and 17, although it usually averages out at about 3.
