Title: Who's The Second-in-command Of Penn Racing
Description: Comes to me at 1 in the morning
Dragon Fanatic - May 5, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
I woke up at 1 in the morning recently and to fall back aslepp, thought of DB (And Dean and Sam Winchester from Supernatural, but that's a completely different story) ;) When I thought about the second-in-command of Penn Racing. I think it's Kitt. She's the only capable of handling that position. What do y'all think?
Elushun - May 5, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
I don't think the Penn Racing really has or needs that kind of command structure. But yeah, I'd give that position to Kit. She seems level-headed enough to handle it.
Draconium - May 5, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
i think it is between kitt and parm because parm is strict about the rules
The Furox - May 6, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
I don't think they have a formal structure. I'm not sure they really need one either. Afterall, no one else besides Artha (and possibly Moordryd) can use the gold amulet and gauntlet. If anyone should be second, it should probably be Mortis/Connor. He's got more experience than any of the kids, is an expert at mag-claw fighting and has a dragon that's been said to have twice the mag energy as Beau.
Airshadow - May 6, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
I see no formal chain of comman in Penn Racing.

For me, I can consider Connor more as a team manager for Penn Racing than a second-in-command, just like some real-life racing teams.

Mortis is either the commander or the eminence grise. He's the one who gives the orders, and he's the senior Penn. Artha's probably the registered Crew-leader, but they're too small to need an official leader, let alone an official second in command. I'd vote for Kitt as the most experienced, but the writers have put her as pretty subordinate and useless so far.
The Hydrag - May 6, 2007 06:24 AM (GMT)
Id have to say that Artha is actually the second in command. If Mortis gives him an order he obeys. That to me constitutes that Mortis is the head honcho.

Hi Guys,
I was just wondering wouldn't the Penn-racing crew belong to the Dragon Priest order because of Connor from episodes 1 to 39 (currently unknown if further episodes are forthcoming). After all, Conner told Artha that his mentor Tannis told him that a war was coming and that only if the dragon of legend would choose a young to help prevent the dragon-human war.
From Berna.
Renesh - May 7, 2007 12:37 PM (GMT)
Yes, but no-one knows that Artha is the DB, therefore it wouldn't.

Yeah, but when trying to prevent Morddryd (aka. Shadow Booster) was looking for the bonemarks of the league of 8, Artha revealed to Tannis the Wise and the other dragon priests that he was the Dragon Booster and that Conner had succeded in breeding a new dragon of legend. This occurred in the episode "Eye of the Dragon".
Renesh - May 7, 2007 05:00 PM (GMT)
I was talking about the people who aren't Dragon Priests. The people to whom it matters who the crew belongs to.
Sarah Frost - May 7, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
You probably don't need to register the name of your second-in-command, especially if Penn Racing isn't the only wee little crew. You might need to register an official leader just for them to have someone to blame when things go wrong, but the leader position is going to be pretty much ceremonial, and a second-in-command position even more pointless in a group of four friends. Artha would be the officially registered leader because Mortis probably doesn't want that much of a record of his existence and involvement, and Connor wasn't around and is a bit too old to call himself a Crew-leader anyhow, and if they asked for a second-in-command as well at the time of registration it would have been Parm above Lance. Kitt only joined later. Although maybe Kitt is the second-in-command, and that's why Security went for her despite her alibi in Framed.
Elushun - May 7, 2007 07:10 PM (GMT)
Security didn't try to arrest all the members of Penn Racing because they were being arrested for using illegal elite-class gear. Lance and Parm don't race.
Sarah Frost - May 7, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
No, they were arrested for blowing Moordryd's saddlebolt. Which neither of them could have actually done, because they were out there racing at the time. However, presumably because racers are soooo much valuable to a crew than gear experts and gear experts don't have minds of their own, Artha and Kitt were both arrested.
Elushun - May 7, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
Ah right. I was thinking of another episode. (And other people, man I'm off the ball today!) But the point still stands. Parm and Lance weren't racing, so they never would've had the chance to sabotage Moordryd's saddle.
Sarah Frost - May 7, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
Actually the evidence was a detonator found in a gear pack in the tent iirc. It's more likely that a non-racer would have set off that detonator rather than someone who's out in the open with witnesses.
The Hydrag - May 8, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
Yes the detonator was found in a tech pod inside the crews tent. So it would have had to been detonated by a nonracer. Refresh my memory, Wasnt it Word that did it?
Renesh - May 9, 2007 05:47 AM (GMT)
Yes, it was. However, before the race he had Cain place the backpack with the detonator in the Penn crew's tent
Dragon Fanatic - June 6, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
I guess since Penn Racing is so small, that they don't have an official second-in-command. I'd still say you'd need one though. If there was one, I stand by what I said, Kitt is the only one capable. She will actually get some work done and contribute to the team. All Artha, LAnce, and Parmon do are fiddling around with other things like Artha being a real stuck up and annoying whiner, Parmon too scared of anything going and tweaking around with gear, and Lance eating candy and playing around.
Nowna - October 9, 2007 03:58 PM (GMT)
I don't think they have one :plot:

They'd probably have to have one, so I still stand by that it's Kitt. I mean, who takes over after Artha's head gets too big? :P
