Title: 1000th Post
Description: And some more
SilverDragon - April 15, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
"Vegeta! What does the scouter say about his post count?"
"It's OVER ONE THOUSAND!:
"What, one thousand?"
Yep. I've reached my 1000th post. To commemerate this, I'm making this topic. But there's more than just me singing and dancing about my giant post count.
I'm considering leaving the board.
Why? I hear you ask. Why leave the board that practically introduced you to people all across the world?
Well, I'm not going to be leaving as such. I'll still be around. However, like I have been recently, I'm not going to post all the time.
The reason for this is simple: I've lost interest in Dragon Booster. You can generally blame this on better shows taking my interest away. They've got better characters, better stories, better...well, everything. DB just looks mediocre in comparison.
Plus, the show's kind of dead. The merchandise has failed, and the show's stopped production. I'm stopped kidding myself: DB's dead and buried. The petition isn't going to save it, and when has an online petition ever worked? I'd like an example of one.
I'll still be around, but even less than usual. So...who wants celebratory drinks?

it's okay that you won't be around as much, but did you have to trash DB?
i'm dissapointed in you :(

OK, here's one:
NBC canceled the original Star Trek series after the second season, but an outpouring of fan mail and petitions brought the show back. The following is an excerpt from Leonard Nimoy's autobiography "I Am Not Spock":

And as we know, fan enthusiasm propelled the franchise onward to make 726 episodes across the six series and 10 movies (with an 11th to be released in 2008).
I am well aware that DB doesn't have anything like that kind of fan base, but it doesn't have to. Animation is more of a niche market compared to prime time live action television where even staggeringly popular anime shows like Inuyasha have only a minuscule fan base compared to Star Trek. But it's all they need to go on for almost 200 episodes and several movies.
I am also well aware that the chance for success with the petition is low, but the only thing guaranteed to have a lower chance of success is doing nothing. I choose to do something rather than nothing.
Everybody looses interest in a fandom at some point and moves on to another. When it happens is just a question of whether or not you're still having fun. I have fond memories of all my past fandoms, so if it's your time to move on, then I hope you have fond memories of this one.
Congratulations on your 1000th posting! :cookie: I think I crossed that milestone myself back in 2005. :P I do hope you might finish "I Would Walk Five Hundred Miles" at some point. I like it's quirkiness. :D
Don't be too much of a stranger!

*Sarcastically* Well arent you just a little ray of sun shine...... You might think that were stupid for not agreeing with you reality but It is my life and DB has pretty much saved my mind from self destruction. Im using the law of attraction and If you feel positive then positive happens to you. I think that we will have many more DB eppisodes and I feel great about it. SO THERE!!!!

I'm still hanging on to see what happens if you feel intelligent in this thread. (Yes yes, valued member of the board, important contributor to the fandom, etc ad infinitum. Currently guilty of various spelling, grammar and conceptual errors above.)
Please, people. Just because one deigns to bestow upon a particular object tokens of one's affection does not indicate that the object must be endowed with flawless perfection. Nobody has called anyone stupid over a matter of personal preference.

Heh. Call me corrected. :P
I was feeling depressed at the time I wrote that, so it was rather pessimistic.
The Hydrag - April 16, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
Yes I apologise for my hastily written (And as you pointed out Sarah Frost Gramatically incorrect and I know that Im just a Newbe and thereby of no value) post but I was extremly upset and angery at the pessimism being expressed.

You're really not that new, and you've posted a lot, so it doesn't seem like it to me. :)
Maybe other shows are better than DB, maybe other shows aren't. What difference does that make to you liking it?
Better characters (well, only Moordryd isn't a total cliche out of the mains, and even he's obviously going to turn up good, and even he can be read as vacillating according to plot convenience more than character), better stories (less repetitive exposition would be a real bonus, also less sexism), better animation (hey, they were on a budget). Either debate or accept that your likes/dislikes != neutral assessment of quality.

Too bad to hear that you're losing interest in DB, SD. Can't blame you for that though.
Hopefully if there is a season 4, your interest might just return to join in the fun again. :)

Yeah i cant blame you either for losing interest in DB. I lost interest in Db a couple of weeks ago but that was probably because it wasnt on because when it came back on i was in to it again. Thats while i wasnt on here for a couple of months.
