koering - March 31, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
Just wondering what everyones favorite episodes were
(please tell why too)
dolphinliss - April 1, 2007 03:44 AM (GMT)
i voted damaged goods because i love how determined Artha is and of course the end title and Moordryd being nice to Artha and just because it was the last episode.(hopefully not for ever) thought battle for the ages is a close second, with all the drac fighting and identities. three times a hero and the wraith booster are definatly on the top for funniest episodes.
Shiroi_Neko - April 1, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
Damaged Goods, coz it made me cry for Artha.
Second to Battle of the Ages, third goes to Wraith Booster.
In terms of comedy, Three Times the Hero really, really made rolling on the floor, so it got special mentioning from me.
BlueBooster - April 1, 2007 06:29 PM (GMT)
Damaged Goods coz felt sorry for Artha getting hurt, and also i was heartwarmed by beau waking up when artha said 'beau if you can hear me i need you' and also when Moordryd stood in the way of the wraith dragon and shaking Artha's hand.
arrow - April 1, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)

Three times a hero
the funniest show in my opinion. i was luaghing so hard my sides hurt for a day lol.
other then that mostly all the DB shows are my favorites there all fun to watch over and over lol.
The Hydrag - April 2, 2007 12:02 AM (GMT)
Battle for the ages because it was just so drac!! and they realize each others identitys. No Payne No Gain was pretty drac also because of the humor and Hydrags helping the Dragon of Legend
koering - April 3, 2007 05:01 AM (GMT)
mine was the wraith booster i have allways liked that eppie
The Furox - April 3, 2007 07:52 AM (GMT)
I voted "other". I find it hard to pick one favorite, but among my favorites are: "Track of Doom", "Horn of Libris", "Return of Drakkus, part 2", "Faster than Fear", "Prophet's Motive", "Chromatic Dragon", "Battle for the Ages" and of course "Fanning the Flames" (you didn't think I'd skip over the episode starring The Furox, did you? :D).
silverfang - April 3, 2007 12:07 PM (GMT)
"No Paynn, No Gain" for me. mainly because it's the first time we get a peek inside the Academy
Liliwen - April 3, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
Hard choice, but I chose Wraith Booster. Perhaps the only episode in which Artha did almost nothing to save the day! Go Moordryd! Plus I love the Moordryd/Lance bonding. ;)
Shining-Dragon - April 3, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
I voted for Damaged Goods. Drac episode.
Draconium - April 4, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)

Burnout Beau - April 8, 2007 04:49 AM (GMT)
For me, there's quite a lotta episodes that I like, but the one that stands the highest is Broken Bonds.
I liked it so much, I even wrote a fic based on the eppie but with an even sinister twist. For those curious, you can check it out here:
The Fallen
Rivit - April 9, 2007 04:32 AM (GMT)
I love "Wraith Booster" a lot for many reasons, Moordrydz cool eh.?, Word's vid-mail, Lance <-> Moordryd, Heroic Villain and Villainic hero (Sounds cool...!!)
Nayade - April 13, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
I vote for Battles for the ages, but I also like Damaged Goods, Pride of the Hero, Wraith Booster, Return of Drakkus, part 2, Cain's Mutiny, Slithercorp. :)
Aniu_the_white_wolf - April 16, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
I choose other, because my favourite episodes are "three times a hero", "the chromatic dragon", "the leap of loris" and "the prophet's motive"
Three times a hero because it was so funny ^_^ I was in tears by the end of it and my sides hurt.
And the other three, mainly because they have Wulph in it  and if you haven't noticed I like him

"Pride of the Hero"
I'm a character artist/creator, and I've studied cartoons on a rather scarily analytical level since I was young, and do it on a professional level now, for both Easter and Western toons as well as comics and Manga.
This episode had more shake ups of the conventional way of cartooning in the West then any other before or since.
It's the first episode with major character development happening. Until that point, for me, Dragon Booster was just and enjoyable cartoon with very impressive visuals, and a remarkable, impressively small team and an innovative way of animating.
Suddenly, they turn my somewhat complacent ability to predict a storyline totally on it's head by going all anime on me. Suddenly, the secondary antagonist (or "sub villian" in laymen's terms) is shown to be one of those rare, delightful beings you NEVER get in Western cartoons. An Antihero.
Out the window with the predicted, formulated character to character relations when Artha starts talking to Moordryd like an equal at the end, rather then pond scum, which is the traditional tone taken on by heroes to antagonists, and Moordryd becomes somewhat reasonable, rather then continuing to be evil beyong logic just because he's "evil".
Away with you, annoying tradition of 15-16 year old characters who act like they're in their late 20's in both eastern and western mediums, when Artha acts like a pentualent, pig headed teen with more fame then maturity and Moordryd acts like a rather confused fifteen year old, both angry at world and desperate for approval from SOMEONE.
Die, repetative, predictable plot lines where nothing ever changes, no one ever grows, and lessons learnt in past eppisodes are forgotten by the next one.
So yes, for me it was the tuning point, and I realized Dragon Booster wasn't just good, it was revolutionary. It ceased being a Eastern influenced western toon and became something that stands well and truely between both... and in my opnion, above.
*giggles* Lecture over. I hope you all feel elated now and took notes, there will be a test on this on Monday... XD

Ditto. :) I was already hooked on the show by the time this episode aired, however this one really stands out as one that breaks the formula for typical Western made toons. I remember the show got a lot more interesting when this aired.

Ha! I feel the same way. I'm so tired of shows where they push the reset button after every episode. That can be OK for comedies, but continuity is so much more fun. And heck, even South Park has continuity!
Ever watch Disney's Gargoyles, Natalilly? I really liked that one, too. It had great continuity, some character development and a somewhat atypical villain. I've even been to two fan conventions for that show! :)
Burnout Beau - November 30, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
Nice lecture there, Natalily. :)
Btw, can anyone explain to me what an 'anti-hero' means? I've heard of it before but never really knew what it supposed to mean.

So true there about the continuity thing. That's why animes like Inuyasha and Naruto become so successful in the US and the world: 'cuz their episodes are progressive with the storyline and their characters show lots of changes and developments as the story went on.

They do? I thought they're just like The Simpsons.

Wikipedia says it better and more concisely than I could:
| QUOTE |
| an anti-hero is a protagonist who is lacking the traditional heroic attributes and qualities, and instead possesses character traits that are antithetical to heroism. |

The continuity in South Park is weak, but the characters do at times remember events from past episodes. Most notably, there was a whole season of episodes where Kenny stayed dead (before he came back again). Then of course, there's the whole evolution of Mr/Miss Garrison's character. Now there's character development! :)

Firstly, it is Damaged Goods. It was sad to see Moordryd hurting Artha as Shadow Booster and Dragon Booster respectfully. Cain is not aware that Artha knows the Shadow Booster's true identity. It was indeed heartwarming to see Beau wake up, when Artha called him during Drag Ball. :D I also like the part where Moordyd stands in the way of the Wraith Dragon that was heading straight for the badly injured Artha. Another thing I notice in this episode is Word. Word really does care about his son. If you remember the ending, where Artha gets up and retrieves the ball from the ground. Moordyd remained on the floor, watching Artha. His father was controlling the Wraith Dragon, and he felt the ground trembled. He noticed his father with the controller, and turned back to watch Artha. Unlike Beau, Decepshun was out cold. Coreshun was tied up!
If Word does not care about his son, he would have used the Wraith Dragon to push past his own son. But here it shows the true father feeling. Every parent want to avoid hitting their children, if they truly love their children.
RoldGold Dragon - January 26, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
I couldn't agree with you more Natalilly. Although I think Artha has (almost since the beginning) treated Mordrydd fairly well. "we shouldn't be fighting," and "let's work together" could be his slogan. Forget Hillary and Obama. Forget Cain....Artha Penn for prez in '08! In all seriousness though, you are right. DB definitely brought a more realistic aspect to cartoons and has taken from the best of both styles. This is one of the biggest factors drawing me to the series in the first place. Do you remember the Visionaries cartoon of the 80's? That cartoon frequently featured characters with multiple depths to their personality. You got the feeling (for example) that Cindarr would've been a "good guy" if he hadn't sworn his allegiance to Darkstorm. You also got the feeling that he was just used because he wasn't all that bright.
For the person asking about an anti-hero, that is a character who may have conflicting features with a traditional "heroic" type. They may have habits or do dishonorable things, yet they are still basically good when it comes down to it. Think Han Solo, for example.
Forgot to add, my favorite eps were "Three times a hero" ('cause it's so funny), "Battle for the ages" "If it ain't broke" and "Damaged goods"
