Title: How Did You Get Interested In Db?
Description: what's your story?
dolphinliss - March 18, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
This topic is for telling how you got interested in DB. Here is my story:
It was after the September DB first aired and it was New Years Eve. My older brother and i were watching Jetix and we were waiting for it to be midnight. On Jetix they were playing the first episode of all these cartoon series. Then Dragon Booster came on. I watched the episode and fell in love with it. I had always liked dragons and that is what first caught my attention. There aren't many good shows with dragons in them and DB is just the dracest show on the planet. Anyway, after that I started watching DB when it was on tv. Soon I looked up the epies i had missed on youtube, joined the forum, visited sites ect.
What is your story?
Sai - March 18, 2007 03:49 AM (GMT)
Well I don't remember when I first watched DB, but I know I fell in love with it when I first saw it. Oh yeah I also fell in love with Moordryd when I found out his name I looked it up and saw DB stuff and ever since I've done research and joined this forum.

It was the show that replaced Ace Lightning when that finished. LightningFlash told me to watch it, so I did.

We had a somewhat similar thread to this one some time back:
Why do you watch Dragon Booster? Some people posted how they discovered the show in there. As for me, I was just channel surfing one Saturday and happened to land on Toon Disney when DB was on. The CG animation caught my attention first and got me to pause on the channel, then the cool looking dragons got me to watch the whole episode. I programmed my Tivo to record all episodes shortly afterwards. :) The show has so many of the things I like: dragons, CG animation, continuing storyline, dragons, sci-fi/furturisitc world, great music, dragons, unbelievably good cinematography, a great blend of the anime and western animation styles, and did I mention the dragons? You might say I was hooked pretty quickly.
Natalilly - March 18, 2007 11:58 AM (GMT)
At the time I used to work as a waitress at night, and being a cartoonist/comic artist, i often used to see what animation had to offer ont he only toon friendly station during the week, the ABC.
I saw ads for it all week and was very cynical. Lately, nothing good has come out of the west that wasn't aimed at adults.
But I watched it anyway
I was presented with a show FULL of things I'd never seen before. Cel shaded CGI- rather then the cheap, rubbishy CGI you normally see in kids programs, a plathora of colours, contrasting beautifully, unbelievable technique, a comprimise between eastern and western cartooning style and plots, characters with dimentiona nd room to grow, a progressive plot, a totally unique approach to setting with an almost comic style background. Stunning city layers, buildings carrying on the truce between east and western design, multicultralism without the forced in your face PC crassness you find in most programs, almost cinematic directing... on and on it went, but the clincher was, and still is Moordryd. An Anti-hero! Rare enough in films (though quite common in comics and anime) it's a character stylis pretty much NEVER used in western animation.
So yeah, I was, and still am hooked.

funny thing really... i have only been a fan of Dragon Booster since the begining of Feb 2007. i noticed Dragon Booster when it frist aired on cbc in 2005 but cbc normaly only airs show for kids and i thought it was just another silly and boring kids show so i saddly ingored for almost 2 years lol
in mid jan 2007 i had to move and wasnt able to get cable hooked up right away so i watched the only 2 channels i could get with out cable which one was cbc lol when i watched the first show (track of doom) i fell in love with it and keeped watching it ever staurday morning (still do) till i looked up DB on youtube and spent 2 days watching all the shows i missed lol
fell bad i ignored it for 2 years which is odd since i been a dragon lover my whole life. just never though cbc would air such a great show on there network and now it seems they dont want to order new shows :( not fair lol

I've got a story too:
Last summer, as usual, I went abroad. Every year I visit a diffrent country and try to maintain myself there as long as I can- I find a job, a place to stay and enjoy living somewhere new. That time I was in Irleand.
And the funny thing about the green island is that it's easier to find a Pole there then an Irishman. And you could watch there polish cable television, something I ironically didn't have at home (too expensive T_T).
So one day I was at friends flat in Dublin flipping through channels of the said polish cable tv. And when I say 'flipping through channels' I mean looking for cartoons. And then it happened- children started crying, birds dropped dead from the trees, cows lost their milk and I saw the second part of the Return of Drakkus.
And for all the reasons Natalily said above me, especially Moordryd, I fell in love.
And so I'm still here now.

I got interested in the show 13 months before it even premiered here. :D
I first got to know about the show when I browsed through an anime magazine. Through that magazine is where I first got to know the characters of DB and from then on, it's history.
Isn't history fun? :D

Basically, whenever I see the word "Dragon" on anything, my eyes light up. That's what led me to Dragon Booster and I've never looked back since.

i can remeber it like it was yesterday. i was always wondering when something would happen in my life. well my my mom took me and my brother and sister away from my dad for the fact that they were devorced[i still visit him] but we lived with mike who is my moms freind. well one day he turned on jetix. i was like wow. this channel is cool. well then about 8:30 dragon booster came on. it was the first part of the first episode. i watched it and i felt sheer joy. it was so drac. i loved it. since then i have only missed one episode. for the fact that i had to go somewhere at 7:00 in the morning.
Dragon Fanatic - August 7, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
At first, me and my sister thought it was really stupid.
Then, we were channel surfing and DB came on. We watched a little bit and she was about to change the channel when I said 'Stop! This show is awesome!'
Ever since then, I became a fan of the show and go to all the sites I can find and joined the forum.
MaiBeyblader - November 28, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
After the satillite at the house went down all we had was CBC. They showed Dragon Booster, and I was a bit of a TV addict at the time so I gave it a second shot (I had announced it boring in front of everyone at home a few months prior). I started liking it because it was the best cartoon on CBC.
But then it got cutt off before I could finish watching all three seasons... But now it's back! :D My Saturday mornings just got better.
Arthapenn - June 7, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)
I had always like dragons. At first, I was not interested. But one day, I decided to watch an episode for a few minutes. Those few minutes became 15-25 minutes, and I was hooked on the show since.

My family and I were visiting one of my younger sisters, in the US. We stayed at her home and her children were watching television, like most US children. One of her children refused to move away from the TV, despite watching it for five hours. My nephew was naughty, and was just 40 months old.
The following words stayed in my mind and I remembered them as if was yesterday.
Artha Penn: We will have to stop fighting. Stop fighting! I will not fight you. Stop fighting! No more fighting! No more fighting! No more fighting!
Miranis: No more fighting!
These words got my attention immediately, even though I was busily chatting with my sister, and with her children playing loudly with my children. My sister heard it too, and we went to watch the scene with my nephew. He protested loudly, and his mother said, "Sorry, Son, for breaking your rules. But did you hear the characters? Fighting is wrong, and if you fight, you will not gain friends. You must earn respect from the other people. You will not get far if you are fighting all the time. Violence will get nothing but violence. There are important things in this world, and the song, Heal the World, stressed fighting will not get you anywhere."
Artha's words struck home the message. There should not be any fighting, politics and non-politics alike. It was the ending of the episode, Defiant, that got me hooked onto Dragon Booster. I was not a fan of dragons, but the episode sparked my interest. So when I came home to Sydney, I started browsing for the airtime. I started to watch the cartoon since then.
Draco - August 31, 2009 06:45 PM (GMT)
I actually discovered Dragon Booster a month after its release. It was sometime in November of 2004 when I first watched it, which is when I was only ten. I was flipping channels randomly (or I might have turned on the TV to see that it was on ABC Family) and came upon the show called Dragon Booster. I remembered hearing about it the other month due to the trailers, so because of curiosity I watched it. It was like 11:50 AM when I came upon it, so it was basically almost over; I was watching the end of episode 5, Fanning the Flames. It was the part when Beau first reared back to let out a mighty roar and Artha said, "Bring it together, guys. I think the dragon-of-legend has an idea!"
So, Beau kicked Furox ass and at the end of the episode, and by the time it was done I was like, "Omg so kewl!!!1!!11!" So, with that in mind, I awaited the show for next week. The next week aired "The Stand" and it showed that episode every week for three weeks :P I watched it to the point when I knew the lines XD Since then I was hooked on the show.
And, after watching the show, I drew my VERY FIRST PICTURE OF BEAU EVA!!!! :D
Note that it looks nothing like him because I had horrible memory as a young chid XD

That is all right, Draco, considering it has been five years. 59 months to be exact. It is September now, and the show started in October 2004 as you said.
As for your drawing, I like it all the same.
