The darkness was closing in around her as she sped up, the light in the distance glowed faintly. She could hear her ragged breathing and her footsteps pounding across the uneven, elevated terrain. Safety was so close, she could hear people's voices. She stretched out her hand to open the door but was suddenly forcibly thrown backwards. The dark shape of her darkest fear loomed over here. The voice she never wanted to hear again echoed in the still air arround her, chilling her to her very core.

"Hello again Kitt, long time no see....."

That's IT?

Anyway, it's good. Need to fix some spelling errors (here=/=hear), but otherwise pretty good! :cookie:

Wait I've firgured it out, is concrit constructive criticism? If so I'm cool with it cuz ya know I love input *hint hint* :plot: . Oh and for everyone that noticed I tried to indent but it doesn't work so I just hit the enter button evey time I started a new paragraph. Well anyways on with the story......

Chapter One: The Warning

Kitt gulped, "Hello Vea Keishla." She figeted nervously, Vea Keishla was one of the high priestesses of the Wystiiraynn Order. Kitt was a filia, or daughter, of Wystiiria, but quite unfortunately for her she had stopped reporting -as her orders told her too- a very long time ago.

"The Order is very dissapointed in you Kitra Radha. We found trustworthy enough of an assignment and you betrayed us. This is the first and only warning we will give you, begin reporting again or come home Maadrona Miya." Kitt nodded numbly as Vea Keishla turned and dissapeared into the darkness. Kitt could remember a time when all she had wanted was to be just like Vea Keishla, to don the indigo robe of a vea and guide her fellow sisters, but that was a long time ago. Kitt knew what freedom was now and cherished it. The way she had grown up had been harsh and full of despair, she had been ostrasized and looked down on by almost everyone. Kitt's parents were still alive when she was taken into the order, a rareity, and so she was never considered to be a full daughter of the order. Growing up Kitt had only had two friends and now she had so many, she would not turn her back on them. Standing up she reached out and pulled the door open.

"Hey guys," she called, "I'm back." as she thought and I'm not leaving. Parm, Artha, Lance, and Connor all responded with nods, too absorbed to pay too much attention to her. Kitt sat down next to Wyldfyr and thought back on the day she she left to begin her mission....

Kitra smiled as she walked down the path to the Maadrona Miya, the Almut Council had sent for her, saying they had good news. She smiled and paused as she passed through the stark white, marble columns that marked the entrance to Purpura Grove. Kitra breathed deeply, partly because she wanted to calm down and partly becuase she loved the scent of lilac and wisteria, before she continued down toward the Maadrona Miya. Stepping into the grand hall she turned and briskly walked into the council's meeting room. When she turned and walked back out, she felt like a different person. They were giving her a mission, she had been picked because of her skills as a dragon rider, they wanted her to report the goings on of Dragon City, she was leaving, she was on her way to becoming a priestess, she would meet men! Kitra beamed as she flew home to pack. She was now Kitt Raada Wann, future racing star of Dragon City.
While digging through a drawer Kitt suddenly froze as her hand brushed past a hard, wooden frame. Pulling it out Kitt's smiled died off her face, the one thing that spoiled this day, THEY weren't there to celebrate with her. She wondered if she'd ever see them again, before she stuffed the frame back into the drawer, she didn't want to bring that hurt with her when she started this new life.

The eerie silence echoed around her and she leaned against the rail. The crisp, night air stung her face and froze her lungs but she didn't move. She could remember back when she used to sneak out to watch the races, of course now that sneaking was no longer necessary she could no longer watch the races. She'd heard Kitt was a big racer these days and hanging out with the Dragon Booster. Briefly wondering whether Kitt was happy, she turned and whistled for her dragon. Better get home before anyone noticed she was gone.....

Kitt tossed and turned in her sleep, seeing Vea Keishla again had brought back painful memories that continually interrupted her dreams. One memory in particular haunted her.......

The three girls giggled as they walked along to the temple, Chacie spoke up, "I'm not going to lower my eyes when Vea Keishla walks by. "

Kitra gasped, "No! The Council will punish you!"

"So? What's the worst they can do? Make me clean my room." she laughed. Kitra balked, Chacie was insane!

"Are you sure?" Veata inquired. "The Almut Council are known to be harsh."

"Positive." was Chacie's firm reply. The next time Kitra saw her friend, her friend could not see her. The Almut Council had blinded her friend for her insolence, Chacie, who was normally so happy and full of chatter, didn't speak to anyone for three weeks. Kitra had horrible nightmares about that incident for months.

Kitt shot up, heart pounding, apparently something that had happened that long ago could still give her nightmares. It had been years since she'd seen either of her friends but she still cared for them. Everyone else had ostracized her growing up, but Chacie and Veata had stood by her. When she had first come to Dragon City, a little over two years ago, she had felt completely lost. Meeting Artha and then joining his team had been the best thing to happen to her since then because joining a team finally made her feel accepted. Kitt had finally made more friends, she was normal and people cared about her. She was not going to let Vea Keishla and the rest the Wystiiraynn Order take that away from her.

On the other side of town a racer from another city, stood up and stretched, they had been sent to spy on the activities of the Dragon Booster and his city. The person they were taking over for had become incompetant and had stopped reporting, she paused and wondered who would be crazy enough to anger the Council. Leaning over she poked the lump in the bed next to hers, "Wake up! Time to start a bright new day!" immediately afterward she clamped her hands over her mouth.

"Oh is it a bright day? I hadn't noticed." her companion's voice dripped with sarcasm, the first girl guessed it came from being blind and excused it.

Note: Not to insult or offend anyone who is blind, my character is just naturally sarcastic and has always been sarcastic.

I liked your last chapter. keep up the good work. Also do you think you could look at my fanfic "Season Four of Dragon Booster" and give me your oppinion on it. I have already typed the next chapter, but I want to know if anyone thinks I should do anything else before I jump into the Dragon Human War. Of course you'll have to read the whole thing to understand it.

Chapter Two: The Meeting

Kitt ran, "Oops! Sorry!" she called as she body slammed an innocent bystander. When she had woken up this morning she thought she had plenty of time to get ready for today's race, but she felt horrible so Kitt just figured she would take a nice, hot shower to make her feel a little better. Of course, then she looked at the clock and figured out why no one else was in the stables, the races were about to start. So she was stuck racing through an obstacle course of people because her stupid teammates couldn't put 2 and 2 together and figure out to wake her up. Kitt took a flying leap and sailed over some little kid bent over tying his shoes and crashed right into a blond teenager. The girl thrashed around until she knocked Kitt off of her, "Hey! Don't you know it's rude to run over blind people?"

The girl sat up and her misty eyes glared in Kitt's general direction. Kitt felt her throat clog up and her vision tunneled in on the girl. It had been years and the girl was more developed and her hair was different but it was still same girl she had known all those years ago. "Chacie? Is it you?" Kitt felt her eyes tear up. "Kitra?" the girl sounded uncertain and she reached out to touch Kitt. "Yeah," Kitt nodded tears now spilling freely down her face, "Yeah, it's me."

The girl grinned, "Boy do I have an awful lot of stuff to tell you!" Chacie grabbed Kitt's hand and dragged her along. Kitt was a little hesitant to follow Chacie, "Chac, do you know where you're going?"

"C.D. And yeah, I totally know where I'm going!" Chacie grinned like a monkey on a middle of the night sleepover sugar high and whistled.

"C.D.?" Kitt felt so lost, C.D. what? How did a blind girl who popped up out of nowhere in KITT'S hometown know where she was going? And why was she whistling?

A dragon slid out of the crowd and Chacie grabbed it, "C.D." she repeated, "It's the name I go by on the surface. What's yours?" all this was said at the breakneck speed Chacie, errr C.D., had used before the council had blinded her and Kitt hadn't readjusted to it yet. She took a few moments to process what Chacie had said.

"Oh, uh, I'm known as Wann, wait no I mean Kitt! Kitt Wann."

"Cool, like Bond, James Bond!" Chacie turned and grinned at some random stranger because she didn't know where Kitt was. The guy nervously backed away and Chacie charged on through the throngs of people.

“C.D. where are we going? Cuz’ I’m in the race and I kinda have to get ready.” Kitt had to shout to be heard above the din of the crowd.

“Oh! You race? Cool! Well we were going to go find Lily but I guess we’ll just have to get you ready for this race! I’ll just call her and tell her where we’re going!” C.D. whipped out a communicator and flipped it open, “Um, where are we going?”

Kitt grinned, typical, Chacie never knew whether she was coming or going. “This way!”

Chapter Three: Races and Revelations

Chacie grinned from the doorway, “I have absolutely no idea whatsoever of what Wyldfyr looks like, but I bet that it’s, like, so totally awesome!” Kitt grunted in agreement as she hurriedly picked out what gear she would need for the race. “So you’re a lone racer?” Chacie inquired.

“What? Oh no. I’m part of the Penn Racing Crew.” Kitt replied distractedly.

“Oh really? How?”

“What do you mean how? There’s only one way to be part of a crew.” Kitt finally stopped rummaging through her gear and turned to face her friend.

“Well, I mean it’s none of my business, but wouldn’t it be logical to think that if you were a part of their racing team they would be helping you prepare for a race?” Chacie asked pointedly.

“They’re busy!” Kitt quickly defended her teammate’s actions, “They have to help Artha get ready for the race.”

“Hey, no need to get defensive.” Chacie put her hands up, “I’m just saying that you and the rest of your team should treat each other as equals.”

Kitt felt her face burn; she was treated as an equal! Chacie just thought she wasn’t because of the way they had been raised. “I have to get to the race, will you be okay?”

“Yeah, yeah, Veata will come pick me up.” Chacie pulled the communicator out again, “You just go win that race!”

Out on the race track Kitt searched the crowd for Chacie’s face, but to no avail, she just couldn’t pick her out among the masses of fans. “Hey, glad you made it in time!” Artha’s voice pulled Kitt out of her reverie.

“Hmm? Oh, uh, hi.” Kitt suddenly remembered why she had been late that morning, “I would have been earlier if someone had woken me up!”

“You looked tired,” Artha soothed, “we all thought it would be better if you got a few extra Zzz’s.”

Kitt blushed, “I’m still mad.” she muttered, “I could’ve missed the race!” The conversation stopped when the bell for the beginning of the race sounded.

Wind whipped past Kitt’s face as she flew down the track, she heard Artha and Beau fast approaching her and she began to pull back so they could take the lead when Chacie’s words rang through her thoughts… I’m just saying that you and the rest of your team should treat each other as equals. You just go win that race! Kitt leaned down to cut down on wind friction and urged Wyldfyr forward, she would win this race, after all Artha didn’t have to win every race. With a final burst of speed she and Wlydfyr passed the finish line. “Winner, Kitt Wann!” boomed across the stadium and fans cheered. Artha, however; looked sour. Oops, so much for team equality, Artha stalked off towards the stables.

“Guess second place doesn’t sit very well with him does it?” Kitt started and turned to face the speaker. Her face split into a huge grin and she threw her arms around the girl.

“V, it is so good to see you!”

“Hey, Kitt!” Veata patted her on the back, “Long time, no see!”

At this point Chacie burst in, “We have so much to catch up on! Lily and I are busy now but we should definitely go out for brunch tomorrow! Don’t cha think? Great! We’ll see you tomorrow at 10:30! This is gonna be soooo much fun!” Chacie giggled as she was magged up by a purple dragon. When Kitt turned around Veata was already on a black dragon, she nodded good-bye to Kitt and C.D. waved vigorously.

Across town Veata turned to Chacie, “Well I’m gonna bet that Kitt is our crazy sister that stopped reporting.”

Chacie nodded slowly, “She was really defensive of the rest her team before the race. 10 to one says that she likes someone on the team. We’ll just have to quiz her tomorrow….” Chacie trailed off and turned to begin running her fingers down some Braille filled pages. “Aha! I knew it!” C.D. waved the papers at Veata, “Do you know what this says? What it means?”

“I know you want me to learn Braille but, uh, isn’t this an odd time to point out my illiteracy?” Veata blinked slowly at her friend.

“No, no, not that! It says that filia stopped reporting on the Dragon Booster! Someone on Kitt’s crew is the Dragon Booster!” Chacie exclaimed.

“Well, that would make sense.” Veata mused, “I bet it’s the leader of the crew, someone like the Dragon Booster probably wouldn’t like taking orders from someone on how to race his dragon.” She tapped her chin thoughtfully. “This certainly causes some problems…”

Kitt grinned as she bounced around the stables as she did her hair; she was going to go have brunch with Veata and Chacie! “I’m going out guys, see ya later!” she called over her shoulder as she and Wyldfyr took off to meet her compadres.

Kitt blinked slowly as she took in surroundings, “Wow, can you guys afford this?” Veata and Chacie had insisted on treating Kitt to brunch in the quaintest little café in Sun City.

“Oh yeah, most definitely!” Chacie bubbled. “So, because I’m blind, I’m gonna have to take your word for it, but are there any cute guys in this city?” she giggled.

Kitt forgot herself and grinned, “Mmhmm,” she nodded, “especially the racers.” she sighed.

Veata nudged her with her foot and grinned, “Any one in particular that you’re fond of? Perhaps Artha?” she grinned wickedly.

Kitt blushed “Maybe just a little.” she agreed.

“So was he mad about you winning?” Chacie smiled.

“A little bit.” Kitt admitted, “He’s not used to losing, especially not to me.”

“Why? You don’t let him win do you?” Veata sounded horrified.

“Well, yeah! I mean he has to get in to the Academy, he’s the….” she trailed off.

“He’s the what?” Veata sounded harsh, “the Dragon Booster?”

Kitt gaped, “What? No, he’s….he’s just the team leader, that’s all!”

“Sure. I’m sure that’s why you let him win and why you stopped reporting and why you stopped being yourself.” Veata glared at Kitt.

Kitt jumped up “No! He’s good! And what would you know about me being myself?!? Have you been here for me?”

“Has he?” Chacie’s voice rang calmly from her chair. “Has he been there for you when you were upset? Or afraid? Or when you couldn’t sleep? Was he the one who spent the night up with you when you were too sick to move?”

Kitt sank down into her chair with a sigh, “No. But that doesn’t give you the right to pick apart his actions Veata.”

A silence over came them until finally Chacie spoke up, “Lily. While we’re here her name is Lily.” Kitt nodded before sighing and standing up.

“I should go.” Her voice sounded cold and she left quickly.

Wow, good! I like it, you're really developing the characters nicely. Although you may have rushed Chacie and Veata's guessing about Artha being the Dragon Booster. But still I'm seeing some Artha/Kitt which I definitely like! I personally like Veata/Lily! Great personality! Reminds me of wel...me! Anywho keep up the awsome work. Your doing great! And, I'm not sure if this is coming up in a later chapter or not, but could you go into a bit more about how the girls know each other? Thanks!

Great story! Nicely written and I like how Kitt's almost getting mad at Artha again like in Slithercorp. :cookie:

Chapter Four: The First Seeds of Doubt

Kitt sighed and rubbed her arms to protect herself from the brisk wind blowing through the city. Her mind flashed back to this morning, the rush of victory, her excitement from passing the finish line first, she had missed it. Of course she didn’t really need to go to the Academy to improve her racing skills, she could just go home if that’s what she wanted to do, but she liked living in Dragon City. If she went home to continue her racing education she would get stuck there, dragged back into that depressing world. She didn’t like her currently male centric world but she didn’t like the old female centric one she came from either. Kitt briefly wondered if Artha could offer some advice before Chacie’s voice swam thorough her head demanding, “What are you, Cheerleader Barbie? Oh Ken, you manly man can’t you save me?!?!” Kitt snorted, as if she was like that…..wait. Hmm, well she wasn’t doing as well as she used to in her races, but that was understandable! She was racing against the Dragon Booster! Besides Artha knew ancient mag moves, of course Kitt knew a couple of ancient moves herself but it would be cheating to use them in a street race. Artha used his moves in street races, they helped him win. Now that Kitt thought about it Moordryd used mag moves in the races too and both he and Artha had made it into the Academy. Maybe, Kitt mused, I could use what I know too. After all that’s what the races are for to show that you know enough to be an Academy student and become an elite racer. Kitt was starting to get angry, Artha got into the Academy because he used mag moves, Artha always got to win, everybody always loved Artha, Artha got recognized by the new Academy star, why was it always about Artha? The only people, Kitt thought, I can remember realizing I had any skills were Pyrahh when she wanted to use me to get that bonemark and Word when he wanted me to lead his wraith army! Is evil the only group that realizes girls have power? Fine, Kitt decided, then perhaps it’s for the best I started reporting on Artha again. It’s not like they’re trying to kill him or anything, he just needs to be watched so he doesn’t do anything incredibly stupid.

“That went well!” Chacie quipped.

“Oh shut up!” Veata growled. They just gotten back and Kitt was already mad at them, and Kitt was almost never mad at them. Growing up Chacie and Veata had been best friends but Chac was really annoying -usually on purpose- so she and Veata had always been mad at each other but Kitt had never been mad at them.

“It’s a good thing.”

“What?” Veata was confused, what was a good thing?

“That she’s mad at us. Kitt was never mad at us growing up because she didn’t have any other friends to go to. I guess that’s one good thing about this Penn crew, she has other friends. If she’s mad at us then she’s showing us she’s more independent. Not on purpose, but her subconscious recognized that she’ no longer needs us the same way and so she took a stand.”

That was creepy. Veata hated when Chacie did that, for a blind girl she sure noticed a lot of things. “Umm, okay, whatever you say.” Veata always thought Chacie seemed out of it, and she was but she unnaturally good at picking apart characters. Once Kitt and Veata had asked her about and Chacie had answered, “I don’t have anything better to do.”

[Deep underground on the far outskirts of the city]

Vea Keishla smiled, unbeknownst to the girls she had been listening in on their conversations, so Kitt was more independent know was she? That was good. Yes, it was surprising but Keishla thought of Kitt as a daughter, she knew she was supposed to think of all the girls as her daughters but Kitt really seemed that way to her. She could still remember the day Kitt came to the Order.

There had been much argument over the child’s acceptance, she was too old and she was not an orphan had been the most frequent arguments but eventually she had been accepted because she was only three and her mother was a psychopath killer so it was not the girl had an active parent. Keishla was not yet appointed to the position of Vea yet and so she had easily been able to watch the girl’s growth. At first Kitra –as she was now named- had been accepted, small children do not know discrimination but as they had gotten older and they had seen her discriminated against by the adults the children began to do two things: they avoided her or they sought her out and made fun of her. One day when she was about seven they had gone so far as to physically attack her, Keishla, a new Vea, could not intervene, but someone else did. “Hey you big doo-doo heads what do you think you’re doing?” It was Chacie Danisha, another seven year old daughter, one with an attitude. Keishla wasn’t very fond of Chacie, she was loud and asked too many questions and very disrespectful. Chacie was currently glaring at the girls who had gone after Kitra, “You get away from her!”

“Why? It’s not like she’s important. She’s not like the rest of us.” One of the girls questioned. Chacie’s dainty response was to kick the girl in the shin. “Ow! I’m telling!” and the girl had run off crying with her friends trailing after her.

Chacie had crouched down next to Kitra, “Are you okay.” Kitra nodded and tears streamed down her face. Chacie sat down and put an arm around Kitra’s shoulders, “They’re just jealous because your parents cared enough to not just toss you away like an old toy.” Chacie had comforted the traumatized girl.

Chacie had then brought Kitra over to play with her friend Veata Lilka. Veata, another girls Keishla didn’t like, was not happy with the idea of playing with an outcast. She protested “Chac, this girl’s a weirdo! Nobody ever plays with her.”

Chacie was not that easily deterred though, she stubbornly sat down with Kitra and a Fire Booster doll saying “You’re a weirdo and I play with her. So there.” And that had been it. There was no more arguing about it, Veata had sulked but eventually warmed up to her new playmate and the three of them were soon inseparable.

Holy Dragon!!! has it been a long time since I was here! Phew, I just hadn't been feeling the Dragon Booster love as much as I used to, but then I saw an old picture of Artha and Kitt and well what can I say? I've always been a fan of theirs because they're just so cheesy together and I have not had any luck with relationships like that. Oops I'm getting off topic! Anyways I'm going to try and finish my two stories (of course it took me forever to find them, there are quite a few new writers since the last time I was here). I just have to reread the story to get back into int's plot. Oh and I really hope that this doesn't count against me as a double post but it's been so long and no one was respomnding and I was hoping to get some attention for this story because I would love some fresh ideas. I'm BAAAAACCCCKKKKK! :plot:

Wonderful! Great job, especially for your first fanfic (1st DB fanfic or fanfics in general?) Either way, it's clear to see that you are a gifted writer. Keep up the great job. Can't wait to see how Kitt's relationship plays out with her old crew. ^_^ :D
