Title: Season 4 Information
Description: If you have any share it with us.
turkmen - January 10, 2007 07:28 AM (GMT)
I hope this thread is suitable here....
If anybody knows anything about the future of Dragon Booster, weather the new episodes are being made, the production is currently halted or (god forbid) canceled please share it with us.
I'm sure any piece of information would be great.
The Furox - January 27, 2007 12:16 AM (GMT)
No news on actually getting new episodes yet, however I do have two pieces of information from The Magna Draconis to pass along. (For newer members who don't know, he's one of the creators of the show.)
First, he tells me that they've written a 26-episode story arc for Dragon Booster Academy. The implication I got was that they were trying to sell Dragon Booster Academy as a 26-episode package deal, which means that if it's picked up by a network, then we would not only get season 4, but also be guaranteed to get season 5 as well. If that happens, then we'd be getting the full 65 episodes they originally had in mind.
Secondly, he says that if Dragon Booster Academy becomes a reality, he wants to try and run some sort of contests where people here on the forum would be able to effect what happens in the show in some way. Exactly what form this would take is unknown, and will probably require him spending time with the lawyers to figure out what they can do and how to do it, so there are no details to talk about yet. My own guess it that the influence would be in small areas since the story arc has already been determined. But hey, any such contest like that would be fun in my opinion.
So, if any of this gets your interest, then I hope you'll be motivated to send some letters into the networks to tell them you want to see more episodes. :)

Oh my god! There is still hope for more episodes. I am confident that they will air those remaining episodes you talked about, it will probably take a while.(possibly years, hope not)
I am SOOOOOOOO exited that you shared this marvelous news with the forum.
One more thing directed to the Furox: Do you need any help around the forum?

Hopefully not years, but it will take awhile before we see any new episodes. I think it takes like six months for an episode to make it through the production pipeline. It's a true pipeline, so getting the first episode out when and if they resume production will take about six months, but the rest will fall out sooner. Theoretically, there might still be a chance of having season 4 ready to air by fall in the US when the new TV season normally starts. Just have to hope Jetix buys the package soon though. If they do, we'll also have to hope that Nerd Corps can handle the load since they are presently pretty busy with their new show "Storm Hawks" which begins airing later this year.

This forum belongs to LightningFlash, not me. I just like to post a lot. :)
I run www.dragon-city.org and write nearly all the content for that.
dolphinliss - January 27, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
Sorry for the mistake. I knew you ran either dragon-city.org or this forum. I visit your wevsite fairly often. Its awesome. I love the new Parmon's Workshop section. By the way do you know how I could get in touch with LightningFlash?

Thanks. I put a lot of effort into that oft-delayed section. It was a lot of work to put together, which is why I tended to procrastinate on it so much. :) I have plans for one additional major section, plus improvements to some of the others (like filling in the rest of the crew pages). That site will keep me busy for awhile yet. :)

Click where it says "My Controls", then click "Compose New Message", then put "LightningFlash" in the "To" field of the message.
Back to the topic of this thread for a moment:
I think there's a piece of good news to take away here. The fact that The Story Hat hasn't given up looking for a buyer for more episodes means that there's still a chance we could get more. If Jetix and the CBC had told them to take a hike regarding Dragon Booster, then The Magna Draconis wouldn't have bothered writing the story arc for DB Academy and they would have moved on to a new show. The fact that they're still trying means the networks haven't said "no" yet, they just haven't said "yes" yet which is a little different if you follow my meaning here.
This is one of the reasons I think it's so important to send in letters now while there's still a chance for more episodes. A little fan enthusiasm might just be what it takes to tip the balance in our favor.

Oh yes! That sounded like fun!
It's gonna be cool for the fans to have some power to affect the show, regardless of whether it affects the storyline in a major or minor way. But yeah, I agree with Furox that the influence will only be in small areas.
But hey, that's still fun, right? :plot:
Sarah Frost - January 27, 2007 10:32 AM (GMT)
Avatar ran a fan competition some time ago and chose three fan-made Su--ah, OC--designs to appear in a short one-shot comic. Something like that inserted into background scenery might be the most obvious way for the DB creators to use fan input in small areas.
Kay Yasha - January 27, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
It's good to know us DB fans haven't been forgotten by everyone (Shakes fist at ABC, yelling 'For god sake get some new eps people! I know you have them! This is like the animals of Farthing Wood all over again!)
...Ignore my rant.
A comp' for us fans would be great. I know Joss used to patrol the Buffy Forums for ideas.
And the Academy episodes should be fun. I can imagine it being kind of like DB Uni for some reason...
Kereea - January 27, 2007 01:21 PM (GMT)
Another cool thing they could do for fan input is run a few fan-musci-videos during a marthon.
dolphinliss - January 27, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the great news Furox. I will definatly continue to write letters. Also, whats the new sub topic your working on in your website?
arrow - January 27, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
this isgood news to hear
i hope that cbc will order more episodes (and play the rest while they are at it)
if they don't, they can always try ytv or teletoon (mainly ytv, cause i won't get teletoon any more in march)
i know for a fact that ytv has a lot of viewers, so yeah
i should really get to writing a letter to cbc, in the letter i am going to beg them to buy more episodes and write a complaint while i'm at it
---->
The Furox - January 29, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't get the CBC. I have no idea why they haven't aired the remaining episodes. They must have paid for them already, so I don't know what they're waiting for. They're an enigma for sure. Maybe that's why Nerd Corps sold they're new series to YTV instead of CBC.

It will be "Kitt's Guide to Dragon City" and will describe the city levels along with the various details of all the known racing formats. I may eventually incorporate Professor Parmon's Gear Guide since he offered it to me for use on the site. Another refinement will be to the cast list in Beau's Chronicles. I'm going to expand this to include photos and bios for the voice actors.

Dragon CityFor the moment I only have copy the description of Sun City. I will add it here so you can have it. I can help you with the others, if you still don't have the descriptions of the other levels in text file.
------
SUN CITY
Built only over the last 200 years, Sun City is a sight to behold. Filled with ultra-modern, almost impossible dragon-inspired structures, Sun City pierces the tangle of the mid-city levels as it reaches high into the sky above.
Comprising only the top mile of this twenty mile city, it is truly the only place in Dragon city where the direct sun shines. Sun City is home to the most powerful and influential of Dragon City's inhabitants and contains all of the government, corporate headquarters, university and science and technology centers in Dragon City. This is also where the very top of the Paynn Incorporated spire is localated.
Sun City is also home to the Elite Class racing track wich twist and turns throughout the city for literally hundreds of miles. Cradled and suspended across the very rooftops, it resembles a mad jumble of ribbons and belts dropped onto the spires and shoulders of upper city. A fall off the edge of one of the turns can send you plummeting straight down through the city the full mile to the abandoned and lightless bottom. That is if you aren't lucky enough to land on the cross streets, bridges or ramps of one of the lower levels. Here the drama of city versus city sport is played out by the professional Elite Class racers, who battle like modern day gladiators ans inspire Artha Penn and the teens of Dragon City to follow in their footsteps.

Thanks, I'm glad you think it would be a fun and useful addition. It's the kind of thing I thought "should" be on a fan site since it's background information. And thanks for the pointers to the city info. There's additional information on the city in the Ultimate Scrapbook and I plan to merge the info that's on the web site with what's in the book along with what we learn in the show and come up with something that's hopefully complete, or at least as complete as I can make it.

I heard a little more news from The Magna Draconis. While they don't have a deal in hand yet, they haven't given up hope for more episodes at all. He says they now have written outlines for the 26 episodes that will comprise Dragon Booster Academy. I don't think they would have done that if they thought the situation was hopeless. He also said they're negotiating bringing a new show to TV and he seemed to imply that they're trying to sell DB Academy along with it as a sort of package deal to the networks. I don't know anything about what the new show might be (though they've had a show called Team Q.U.A.R.K. on their web site for quite some time, so maybe it's that) and I don't know what networks they're talking to, but I think we can still be encouraged that they're trying and it might come to fruition.
So let's keep hoping and keep writing letters to the networks!

Oh, the fandom's reaction to that was insane. The only thing worse was the Godzilla fandom more-or-less mindlessly deciding to boycott Godzilla: Unleashed because it would feature an original monster.
Of course, as side characters, any OCs would obviously not incur the wrath of the fanbase.
Plus, who wouldn't leap at the chance to make their OC canon? Hopefully they'd put a 'no new boosters' rule in. Wait, that'd disqualify 98% of the entries.

I'm agreeing with stay positive, but the way you said it I got the interpitation that we already know it's back. I meant that we should stay positive and hope that it'll be pulled out of the endangered section and not into the extinct section.

Well, if it counts for anything, on the official website, if you check Mythology, there's been an update!!

| "A few decades ago, two young orphans were brought to the Dragon Priesthood to be educated int he ways of the dragon. They were young Connor Penn and his best friend Wordy Paynn. Both Connor and Word could see that the planet was again headed for war but differed in philosophy. Connor wanted to become a dragon breeder in hopes that he could recombine the colors of draconium and bring back the gold star-dragon. Word had other plans; he would create controlling gear to prevent the war and enslave dragons under the guise of letting them have their vengeance over humans. Connor and Word split as friends over this issue and the Dragon Priests banished Word from the order but not before Bestowing upon Connr the ancient secrets of the Dragon Boster and the star-mark amulet that activated the ancient draconium armor. Connor and Mortis sparred for the next few years on the early street track circuits of Dragon City until Connor left the sport to become the famous Dragon Breeder and owner of Penn Stables. Connor began his work to breed the gold star-dragon back into exsistence. Word Paynn responded by growing his massive empire of geer manufacturing in order to push the world closer to hs plan of controlling the next dragon-human war." |

Actually, that's not new. I cloned the new dragonbooster.com site to my hard drive on Oct. 16, 2006 and that text is there. I haven't done a comparison, but as far as I can tell, the site is unchanged since then. Plus I've had a version of the text from original site on
dragon-city.org since I launched the site back in 2005.
But let's still remain hopeful about the future of DB. Hopefully, the news Rob alluded to will be made public soon.

It's definitely work. I'm not sure how much time I have invested in it at this point. Probably a thousand hours or so I'd say. Writing all the original content takes time as does organizing the over 3000 pieces of fan art. It requires knowing html, javascript, photoshop, dreamweaver, how to manage a web server, domain registration and a number of other misc things. There's also the cost of all the software I use, plus the hosting and domain name fees. It's the kind of thing you gotta be pretty serious about wanting to do. :)

Why, thank you for saying that. :) I wish I could do better graphic design, but that's not my strong point. I do plan to spruce it up here and there though. I thinking about revamping the whole fan art gallery at the moment for example, and I plan to also add a more traditional navigation bar to the top of the pages. Just a matter of finding time... :)

I wonder if they've ever considered doing what John Kricfalusi (Ren and Stimpy's original creator) is doing. He recently produced "Ren and Stimpy Adult Party" toons which are so completely controversial and painfully politically incorrect no network will touch them. I had the luck of getting to see them uncut at an animation festival and can rather clearly see why...
Anyway, instead of using a netowork, he produced the toons and is planning to put them straight to DVD. It'ds be a limited run, but everyone's champing at the bit for them...
It's nice to see they haven't given up hope. I recently rewatched them all (well, allt he ones I have on DVD and have *ahem* burnt from the net...) and am floored at the absolute flawless beauty and intricacy of them all over again.
I'm even excited about backgrounds.
You KNOW you're sad when that happens...
