Title: Does Moordryd Ever Get Punished?
Description: He does bad things
Sai - December 29, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
Don't you ever think why Word doesn't punish Moordryd? I know that he yells at him. Like what Moordryd did in "Wraith Booster" Word could of Punished him.
Liliwen - December 30, 2006 01:14 AM (GMT)
I don't think Word knew what Moordryd did in the wraith booster. Moordryd fired a ball at Artha, and when it hit, Word's screen conked out and he yelled, "Who did that?" If Word knew about that, Moordryd would be in big, big trouble. ^_^
Parents punish children when they do something wrong. Word encourages Moordryd to do wrong, and seems pretty happy when he does. So no punishments there.
I think Word would punish Moordryd if he turned on him or did something Word didn't want him to do. But Moordryd hasn't really done that yet, that Word knows of, so Moordryd gets off free. I don't think Word cares what Moordryd does, as long as its not against him. So Moordryd is pretty much undisciplined. Unless Word disciplines him off camera or something...
Sai - December 30, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
But don't you think he would also be punished by the Dragon City Cops?

Some moms are like that. My mother isn't like that at all. She punishes me for every little thing I do!! You are just lucky to have a mom who is the type that doesn't punish.

Moordryd's a bit old for most punishments to work; can't exactly make him sit in the corner or send him to his room without dinner. Though I suppose Word could cut off his allowance or threaten to write him out of his will. :)
Of course, as Liliwen has pointed out, Word is unaware of some of the actions Moordryd has taken against him, like in "Wraith Booster". Also, Moordryd wants his father's approval, though less so in season 3. Word must know this, and so withholding that approval and berating his son as he frequently does is probably punishment enough, at least in Word's mind.
Dragon City Security apparently doesn't arrest Moordryd because they lack enough evidence as Word points out in "Paynn Rising." This is a bit tough to swallow, of course, since Artha and company are all eye witnesses, and the testimony of four eyewitnesses (eight if dragons are allowed to testify :)) should be enough to get a conviction. But I guess we'll have to let that go since that's the way the show is scripted. :D

Ok I think it all makes sense now. THANK YOU.
Shining-Dragon - February 18, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
word is his father. i think thats enough punishment!!! :) lol
Sai - February 19, 2007 06:52 PM (GMT)
lol. True, but you would think that he would at least punish him a pit more.
power of dragon - February 20, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Moordryd does get punished, word magged him up in the air with deception's energy, and he talked about moordryd keeping his room clean. Several times he threatens Moordryd and Moordryd flinches like he has been hit. Word does punish him, probably not on camera because that would not be nice to see on a kid's show.
koering - February 20, 2007 04:13 AM (GMT)
yeah good point, and i think it was keeping his compound clean not his room.

yeah you would think that artha and everyone, being "the good guys," would tell dragon city security about everything Moordryd and Word have done
Sai - February 21, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah, but do they have prof? That's the question. I don't think they have prof so they can't turn Word and Moordryd in.
dolphinliss - February 21, 2007 03:24 AM (GMT)
ya, like Word said in "The Changelings" when he and Connor were fightining he said, "Do you have any proof?" (smirk)
Sarah Frost - February 21, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
Considering the respect DCS and most of the city has for the DB, it's a bit much to expect they'd reject the testimony of three members of the DB's allies the Penn crew (or four, though Lance is only ten and Artha's obviously not always "around") in favour of the skeezy Dragon Eyes (reputation for cheating--and from Connor's words in the Choosing it seems like anti-Crew sentiment is quite acceptable) and Word on his own. In When Darkness Falls, for example, Moordryd's obviously guilty of kidnapping and possibly attempted murder as well, false imprisonment and negligence at the least when he locks Artha and Kitt up in his hideout with dangerous black dragons--why couldn't they use that and similar to slow Word down a bit? (Of course, we know that it'd be boring on screen. But the Watsonian interpretations are rather tenuous.)
Katana - February 21, 2007 04:46 AM (GMT)
Three seasons, and anybody have any proof about the activities of Word and Mordryd?
Plesae, many people has seen Moordryd taking dragons, and sometimes kidnaping people (Lance or Kitt) And anybody has proofs
Sai - February 21, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
I still don't see why Artha and friends wont just turn Word and Moordryd in. They have a lot of prof to do so.
Jess - February 22, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
yeah thats what i was thinking because i think Dragon City Security would belive Artha and if they didnt belive him then Dragon Booster could talk to Cpt. Fair and he would belive him for sure
Sai - February 23, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
True, but in "Pride of a Hero" Cpt. Feir says "there goes a real hero" and he is talking about Moordryd. So he probably still thinks Moordryd is a good guy. And Word is the richest man in Dragon City, so he could buy his way out.

Moordryd is not punished....but Abused Mentally.....Pain tells him he is nothing. and he is an embarrisment to the word Pain....he my not hit him, or send him o his room. but he yells that at him, and is always mad at him...in Moordryd's eyes his father Hate the fact that he was born.....he leaves that with Moordryd, and never tells him he is happy Moordryd is his son.....Pain seems like he is pissed that he even has a son like Moordryd.....tha tis how Word Punishes Moordryd
Sai - June 27, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
True, but Word does tell Moordryd to go to his Compond and clean it.

Keep in mind, I never remember names of episodes in relation to quotes, so i don't use them... I also dont remember quotes word for word (though i could tell you what was happening visually. Damn you, visual brain!)
Personally, I'd prefer a smacked bottom (when I was little and it was PUNISHMENT... and it wasn't outlawed, you dirty, dirty people!), or being sent to my room then the kind of constant psychological abuse Moordryd gets from Word. Being fairly consistantly told you suck by the only figure of authority you respect is pretty bloody damaging, which is seen when he fails Armeggadon for the first time and he says something along the lines of "My father's right, I am worthless", a both revealing and damning moment.
Remember, Moordryd has probably had free run of the city since he was a wee'un (I don't recall the episode title, i never do, but he mentions stealing dragons with his crew since he was quite young) and with that kind of freedom, I doubt simple "go to your compound!" would work, seeing he's there most of his time anyway. Word seems to have sussed out disapproval is what works best when it comes to controlling Moordryd, and so he uses it like a bludgeon.
He IS mag blasted in one eppie by Word, and a few times Word's raised his hand, (though never actually belting Moordryd, but this IS a kids show, and one tiny mistake could have the studio shut down... stupid PC police.) It's used in reverse, as well. in Pride of the Hero (yey! I remembered the name!) Word quite obviously chooses his words carefully, saying he's proud of Moordryd, something effective enough to overpower the Furox's influence, which kind of indicates exactly how important that approval is to Moordryd. And in Faster then Fear, (yey! another one!) His fear is shown to be failing his father.
As for ACS punishement, I think he has. In The Mechanist (?) he mentions knowing the only way out of Precinct, which I assumed to mean he's been in there a number of times prevously and worked out how to break out. They also mention in one of the early episodes ACS is frightened of the Dragon Eye crew and Word. if you look at it compared to OUR way of life, celebrities and the rich get a lot of concessions to the point of almost being above the law. Word is kind of both and not someone shy of throwing his weight around.
Proof? Paynn, the gear empire, versus Penn, a minor stable in mid city, A street kid and the son of a teacher, not to mentiont he almost legendary rivalry between Penn Racing the the Dragon Eyes
*gets off soapbox*

Wow, that took me awhile to read. You're right, actually all of you are, I hardly remember why I started this thread. But I guess it was worth it, for getting a bit more info on how you guys/girls(if some of you ladies don't like being called a guy) think of the show.
Sisterkitt - December 22, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
