Wow, uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Now.....I haven't read the Eragon books but.......now I am totally a fan.

Has anyone else seen the movie yet, and if you have please share your thoughts and feelings about it.

SilverDragon - December 16, 2006 07:31 AM (GMT)
I want to see it, mainly because it's the only book in the Inheritance series I actually really liked.

Brightclaw - December 16, 2006 06:40 PM (GMT)
I've read the book, and I can't wait to see the film.
Saphira looks beautifully animated, but I never imagined her with Feathery wings.
Overall, I don't think the film will be as good as the book, but that is to be expected of. I just hope its not a huge failure.
I'll be going to see it on Friday, I'll post my thought when I've seen it.

She has feathery wings? I always thought they were skin or something.

It's kind of both.

Saphira has both feathers and traditional looking dragon wings in the movie.

Whatever though, it looks great. :D

I haven't seen the movie yet,but me, my family, and my cousin might go see it this weekend. My other cousin thinks it's going to be uber stupid, but I'm not sure..... I want to see it, and it looks cool, but I know they're going to cut out parts to make it shorter, which really annoys me when they turn Books into movies. If you're going to make the book into a movie, make the book into a movie!!! <_< Not half of the book, with this piece of film we had left over from this film!!!!!!!!! <_< Gosh...........

O don't know if it'll be that good, but the computer effects look cool....

I dunno, But I loved The Eragon book.........

PS, Saphira's wings are feathery?
Wow...didn't know that....
That's gonna be wierd! :D

Book to movie conversions are funny things. For example, the movie "Jurassic Park" was much better than the book in my opinion. On the other hand, the movie version of "Dune" made in the 80s was awful compared to the book (they tried to leave in too many of the sub-plots and it ended up one big mess).

I plan to see Eragon in the next few days. I hope it's good. There hasn't been a good dragon movie in quite some time. If it's good and the movie does well, that could spur the studios to make more dragon movies, and we need more dragon movies! :)

I like both of them but Saphira has some advantages over Draco. Personally, the talking through minds thing is WAAAAAAY cooler anyhow, say your in class, bored out of your mind and have nothing to do, you can chat with your dragon and not open your mouth. :D

Next, the bonds between a dragon like Saphira and rider, all the magics they share.

and last, well what could be better, riding on a dragon. :eep:

I'll go with you there, talking through mind powers to your dragon would be drac!

riding on a dragon.

That's my dream come true!

Ok, I meant to say that Saphira and Draco both have awsome characteristics and abilities, but I think they are both equally cool...

Yeah, that's what I meant....

I saw the movie today. I liked it, of course. I don't think any dragon fan could not like this movie. Though I also have to say that I honestly feel the story was weak. I have a feeling that it won't strike a chord with the general public, and if that's true, then the sequel won't get made, which will be a disappoint to us dragon fans. Oh, well. At least we got a new dragon movie. It's been way too long since Dragon Heart.

QUOTE (Liliwen @ Dec 17 2006, 01:07 PM)

You don't really get a good look at the feathers, but they appear to be more like special elongated scales than bird feathers. It fits her look quite nicely.

Very, very drac! Though I must admit that I felt a bit surprised that Eragon and Saphira didn't have all that much to say to each other. I mean if you found you could telepathically talk to what's almost the last dragon in the world, wouldn't you have just a few questions to ask?

Anyway, if you're a dragon fan (and who isn't here), go see it!

DragonBooster500 - December 20, 2006 11:54 PM (GMT)
I actually saw the movie. It was awesome. However some of the characters were messed up. Arya didn't have pointed ears, the Ra'Zac looked like demented zombies, the Urgals had no horns, Saphira had feathered wings, the list goes on and on.

Also there were some parts that were wrong such as Arya being consious when she was supposed to be out cold due to Durza poisoning her. Near the end of the movie the poison "kicks in". And another thing was that Brom died at the wrong place and at the wrong time. His rider identidy was revealed in the wrong way...oy vey.

Also Zar'Roc had a SAPPHIRE in it...its supposed to have a RUBY.

And some of the characters were cut out like Katrina (Roran's girlfriend), and Solembum (the Werecat). You can't make an Eragon movie WITHOUT SOLEMBUM!!!!

One more thing...the battle between Durza and Eragon was completely off although it was very well done. The battle itself was supposed to be inside Farthen Dur, both Eragon and Durza were on the ground fighting, Arya is supposed to fly in on Saphira and shatter Isidar Mithrim (Star Rose) which wasn't even there in the first place, and Durza was supposed to slash Eragon across the back but that didn't happen.

Otherwise the music in the movie was beautiful and the Avril Lavigne song at the end was great. The only characters that were done perfectly were Murtagh, Brom, and Durza. Arya was just okay and Eragon seemed a bit immature at times. Saphira was magnificent and the voice actor who played her was amazing.

Also at the end you get a glimpse of Shruikan (Galbatorix's black dragon)!! Its so cool because Galbatorix gets angry, yells, and rips down this tapestry and this huge-ass dragon head appears and the dragon breaths fire! That was just too cool.

Thats all I really have to say about it.

The Furox - December 21, 2006 12:12 AM (GMT)
One of the areas I thought the movie was weak in is that they never really developed Saphira's personality. She's just kind of there and exchanges a little dialog with Eragon every now and then. Compared to say Draco, it's like she doesn't even have a personality. :P Beau routinely expresses more personality than Saphira without saying a single word, and of course, Propheci tops her by far.

I think this is kind of a shame since she comes across more as a tool of Eragon's rather than a character in the story. If I could have fixed one thing in the movie, it would have been this. I wonder if their CGI budget was too small and it limited how much screen time they could give her.

Of course, the scenes with baby Saphira were uber-cute, particularly when she hatched. She was even cute eating the rat! Who couldn't love a cute little baby dragon.

They did do a good job on animating her though. Did you notice her first few landings were pretty sloppy. That was a nice little touch. Her learning to walk was cute, too. :D

Aww, Man!!
The battle was like the best part!!
And the shattering of Isidar Mithrim was Drac!!!
And Eragon getting slashed was a freaky reminderabout what happened!!

I really wanna see Shruikan!!!!
Dang it!!

I saw the movie on Tuesday. I liked it quite a bit, but it wasn't the greatest movie ever made.

For one, when compared to the book it seemed quite rushed. It left out heaps of stuff (like the bits between Eragon, Saphira and Murtaghs arrival at the Varden stronghold and the battle), and changed quite a bit (like including Galbatorix). The dialogue was rather funny in some places (see Galbatorix's line about how he's all angsty without his stone. XD), but for the most part was general fantasy schtuff.

I liked Saphira most of all the characters. Mainly because she was the most appealing of them all, because Eragon's a Stu, Galby is pathetically cliched (and so is Durza), and the rest of the characters get barely any screen time.

(Brom comes second after Saphira, because he has awesome sword skills)

And I couldn't resist making fun of it, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 style.

(The Ra' Zac appear)
Me: The Mummies Return!

Saphira doesn't even have much of a personality in the book.

I agree with you. I thought the book was rather boring. You just had Eagon trianing to be the best Dragon Rider as he could be, the whole book. It only gets really good the last couple of chapters So a movie of this wouldn't be very good.

atomicnewt2552 - July 14, 2007 12:33 AM (GMT)
The movie sucked. as a movie it was great, but as an adaptation of a book, it was terrible. there's my opinion. books=good, movie=bad

The Hydrag - July 14, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Well Heres my thought on it. The movie was really lousy. It didnt have the special flesh eating Sithir oil or what ever, it didnt have the adult Razac, Saphire has feathers when its stated very clearly in the book that she has leathery wings, a Razac gets killed while in the book the worst they get is poked with a few arrows. The rose saphire wasnt there in trojenheim, well, for that matter trojenheim wasnt even there. It left out Solembaum and his very important message of the weapon under the tree roots and the Vault of souls. The thing that I WAS impressed with was the fact that the White Diamond tomb for Brom was semi accurate. The part I loved the most was the part where Saphira eats the rat just after hatcing. I really was looking foreward to seing the shades maroon colord skin but he just had funky eyes. But if you havent read the book go see the movie. Then its actually quite good. I just memorize books to the point whereI cam say a characters lines 2 seconds before they do in the movie. The biggest sceen they left out that I was looking foreward to seing was the crossing of the Hadarac desert. But the second book was kind of dry I think it was just a set up for a huge and exploseive third book finale.

SilverDragon - July 16, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
Hydrag, the adult Ra'Zac weren't even in the book. They only show up in Eldest. And judging by how much they messed around with the book, they're going to need a lot of revisioning...

Dragon Fanatic - August 7, 2007 04:02 PM (GMT)
No offense, I saw it on the plane and I didn't think it was Academy Award Winning material.
