Title: Dragon-human War Fic
Description: Unfamiliar grounds...

Burnout Beau - December 13, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
I'm thinking of writing a fic on the Dragon-Human War itself based from my intepretation of the Dragon Booster mythology. The story will feature how the original Beau became the Dragon of Legend, how DB was born and how they stopped the war. :gblast:

I know this may sound a little weird for me to ask such a permission, but from what I can remember, no one has ever written any fic based on the myth and if I do so, I could be the first to enter into what I would refer to as "unfamiliar grounds".

So, I'm wondering if this is all right? Any suggestions?

I'm sure you could. I did mine on a huge race that popped into my imagination. Race of the Century, mine is an interactive fan fic.

Of course it's all right. It's a fairly obvious opportunity, if you don't mind me saying so, and nobody "owns" it. Since you ask, at the moment I'm writing a story featuring flashbacks to the war and describing original!DB and friends, but I seriously doubt I was the first to think of potentially fleshing out the history. (And I decided to go AU relative to the more recent episodes I haven't seen yet, using Spirit Booster and Warrior Booster for green and blue.)

Hmm. I've got some questions that seem to be bothering me for my fic at the moment:

1. Is Armeggadon an emperor or warrior of the Black Draconium Empire?
2. Is the Dragon-Human War involves dragons versus humans, or dragons teaming up with humans against each other?
3. Is the war mainly involve the Gold Draconium Empire and Black Draconium Empire? If so, who were their allies?
4. Can I include characters that were not mentioned in the original mythology? (Eg. the real person behind the Dragon Booster.)

Anyone has an answer for my questions? I would really appreciate it. Thanks. :)

1. I got the impression that he was the Shadow Booster and the emperor of the Black Draconium Empire, and I'm writing him that way--but now that you mention it I'm not so sure I can cite sources. I'm sure he was the Shadow Booster once, though, because of his connection to Moordryd's gee-gaws.
2. Probably dragons versus humans, but no doubt both sides would've used each other to a greater or lesser degree as sympathisers or slaves.
3. Look up the original site for some information on this under 'Crews'. The Whites were mercenaries, the Black and Turquoise were against each other, and I think Red was with Gold.
4. It's your story. Invent as many OCs as you like.

Nemi the Nen and the Furox are both excellent sources of canon information.

I have...extensive backstory for the Dragon Human war, in my head which I cobbled together and refined to make it not clash with what little canon we have and to make sence of...well the bull that is canon.

Acording to the Mythology there was the Gold Empire. Then there were the Twelve Empires, and they warred. And then the Dragons rebeled and started the Dragon Human War.

The above? Makes no sence. It's a big "WTF?!" in bold and underlined, possibly italicised as well. It looks fine on the face of it, but how did the so powerful Gold Draconium Empire which united the planet turn splinter like that? Further more we are also informed via the Mythology that certain empires were fighting each other. If it's a Dragon-Human war that implies perhaps entire empires were ruled by dragons out right or taken over in a coup or civil war during the rebelion. That could be, however:

Theroretically some Empires allied with the Dragons and some did not and the wars continued upon those lines under the heading "Dragon-Human War."

Another problem with canon you have to manipulate: The Black Draconium Empire.

Why, you ask loudly. I can hear you across time and through my monitor, I swear.

This is why, mind you I'm arguing from a civilized/enlightened point of view:

Good Guys:

People who are attacked
People who are victimized
People who are put down
People who are weaker
People who rebel (esp. to stop the above) and win
People who win in a morally neutral war
People who loose in a morally neutral war

Bad Guys:

The ones who attack
The ones who victimize people
The ones who put down people
The ones who are stronger
People who rebel and loose (unless morally justified)
People who win in a morally neutral war
People who loose in a morally neutral war

Let's apply this to the mythology. Dragons rose up against human oppresers because they were being dupped; which probably means being bred and treated like animals, having their rights eroded away, being used in senceless wars and getting killed

So...Dragons are the good guys, right? War is bad, but trying for your rights is good. The mythology doesn't seem to condem the dragons for being freedom fighters. That's what the big deal with Dragon Booster was, not dominance, but COOPERATION. Because the Dragons seemed to be going to enslave humans, or somesuch. Maybe. (nevermind now the Dragon Booster seems to be going after keeping the Satus Quo of Dragons being animals...*mutters* But then, he only wants to prevent war)

The Black Draconium Empire are bad guys though, right? Even though we know the orginal Shadow Booster allied with the Dragon Booster to turn on the Gold Network again. Even though it was an ARMY OF BLACK DRAGONS. Even though BLACK DRAGONS ARE THE SMARTEST AND STRONGEST WILLED AROUND. The Black Draconium Empire, the league of eight, started the war for independance, trust a human to lead their army. And they are...bad guys.

Contradictions. You have to figure it out, reason, etc. It's not impossible, I did it. By making the Dragon Preists the Bad Guys. n_n
