Title: Funny/wierd Injuries!
Description: Has anyone had any strange owies?
Kay Yasha - October 31, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
Just because I feel alone at the moment. I'm at home because of a reptile induced injury, and I have many others people don't believe me about.
I do part time work at a wildlife park in Sydney, so I get lots of scratches and bites that most people think I get from falling over, while most of them are actually Little (Fairy) Penguin nips or where a Quoll feels like making a desperate escape.
This week I am off school for a Fresh Water Crocodile bite on my thigh. It was my fault, I should have been watching it. It scared some poor American tourists to hear me yelling at it, and that makes me a little happier.
Does anyone else have hard to explain boo boos?

A hotub cover fell on my head and cracked my skull open 2 years ago.
That was prety hard to explain at school the next couple of days. :faint:

When I was a kid and at my grandparents house I sat a chair on one of those mini trampolines, climbed up on it, and toppled over on to a heater with metal sections and split my head open. Now whenever I change hairdressers, I have to explain the huge scar in the middle of my head.
Do slices on your fingers from when baby goats miss the teat on the bottle and scrape you instead count as weird? I get those a lot.

OUCH again! :eep:
While my injury reallly isn't funny, when I was 2, a 300 pound metal roller smashed into me and broke my legs. God knows how I recovered.
Penny Dreadful - November 1, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
I have scartissue all over the fingers on my right hand. When I was little I pulled myself up onto a counter by pulling up on a hot curling iron. I still can't straighten my hand, but I do enjoy freaking people out by pulling back my fingers with my other hand and streaching out the scar tissue. A lot of people have suggest I get it cut off, but I've lived with it so long it really doesn't bother me.
Bedouin Pirate - November 1, 2006 04:35 PM (GMT)
What caused the injuries wasn't weird, but the results are. Playing youth team basketball on a national level for several years has given me various hand related injuries, although all but two have recovered fully;
On my left hand, I have a perminantly crushed ligament. If I make a fist and then raise my index finger out of it you can see my ligament bend and flatten when it shouldn't.
On my right hand, I have obviously broken my little finger, but ti wasn't untill a few years back that I noticed just how deformed it is. I don't remember ever thinking/knowing it was broken and never went to the doctors, so that'd be why it's deformed. The first bone attached to my knuckle is fine, but then the joint above that is obviously displaced as the next bone curves out a little, then my finger tip points back inwards. If I flip my hand over you can see the middle joint stick out when you shouldn't be able to.
I also have 4 tiny, perfectly square scars on my left thigh... from where my friend stabbed me with a fork.
Then there is the inch and a half long scar on my ankle from when I was ran over by two bicycles when I was six.
I don't have any scars from it, but when I was about 3 my Dad and Step Mum discovered my eye sight was terrible when I was happily walking along and walked neck first into a glass top table. Then whilst my Dad was cooking the next day I walked into and smacked my head on the cooker door (as the cooker was elevated from the ground).

wow ouch is rite !!! the tip of my index fingeron my right hand was cut off by a laawn mower ........i like to scare people with that one hehe...I was like 4 year's old and we were at my great grand paren't house for soem family gathering and there was this lawn mower that hade no moter or blade all it was :was handle's , wheele's and the body , my older sister waspushing my little cousints' on it and i wanted a turn so I sat on it and grabed the handle ( she was pushing is so the handle's were behind me ) and the way i was holding it was that when the handle went strait up it cut the tip of finger so they took me to the hospital it wasn't that bad it on the left side of the finger at the tip so when I hold a pencil it slide's so insted I curl that finger out of the way and use my middle finger and thumb to write I find it quite easy but it you tryed you woudl have soem trouble ....the funny part of this story is that my litle cousint's started to look for the part that was cut :D :D

Wow, since appendicitis isn't that strange (I waited till it burst to go to the hospital, last December) I can't say I have any weird injuries. Except a few days ago, at seven in the morning, I decided to run down the nearly pitch black hall for some odd reason. I hit a box with my foot and nearly fell. Bruised my arm on the stair railing though....

We have a goat farm and I get those too. ^_^

Really? Cool. ^_^ I breed stud Toggenburgs and Anglo Nubians. Where abouts are you based? They're trying to make ear tagging compulsory here in Tassie. ><
Another weird injury I have is the series of scars across the knuckles of my right hand from when I went down a 100 meter slide and brushed the side, taking off the skin. It makes it difficult to eat and write when you can hardly bend your fingers, but they healed fine.
Skylii - November 3, 2006 07:03 AM (GMT)
...I don't think looking down the stairwell and then falling off it and landing BONK on your head at age 6 counts, so lemme get back to you on personal injuries. ^^; But, I do have a friend whose hand got stuck on a hot stove. His nerve in that palm of his hand is now officially dead. I swear, you can drop an anvil on that palm. He still wouldn't feel a thing. (Well, maybe his back side and wrist might feel some pain. ^_^ )
Also, one of my friend's little sisters has this dot scar on her nose. Why? My friend was drunk, was pissed off at said sister, and picked up a (plastic yet pointy) dart...yeah. :eep:

We milk goats here in Ontario and have about 200 or so. We have a lot of Boer goats, but we're trying to get rid of them and get more Saanens (dairy goats). We have some Nubians, Toggenburgs and Alpines as well. I'm not much of a barn type person and only go in to see the kids and kittens.

this is a little wierd but i have gotten about 5 (maybe more )unnoticed cuts last week on both hands that i never noticed until i brushed my teeth in the morning
i don't think this is wierd but, when i was in grade 5 i was at wheelies (roller skating place) with the patrols from my school, and as i was skatingsome kid push me over from behind and i sprang my right rist, and it hurt for two days
the year before i got a bruise on my left knee while skateing on some ice, and the next day it hurt so bad that i had to ask the teacher for a ice pack to put on it
i also have a scar on the same knee from a skateboarding injury i think from grade 3 (my dad said i summersulted twice off the skateboard) and because of the i don't like to skateboard that much any more
this one was a little wierd though in grade 2 ( :P ) i was at a swimming pool for a friends b-day party, and as i climb out of the pool to go on the slide, i notice that on the second toe on my right foot, that it was red just in between where the nail started and the joint before that. i have no idea how i got it and ihave a scar there to this day
and here's an injury that happened to my brother: when i was 4 and my bro was 5, my grandma was watching us, and me and brother were running around, he tripped hit is head on the coffee table, my grandma put a spoon to his forehead to get rid of the pain, and then had to go to the hospital to get stiches
and with his renactment of what happened, it was pretty funny :P

Well, I had lots of minor injuries when I was a kid, mainly just cuts on my knees. But perhaps the worst of all was getting a gash on the back of my head when I was playing with my cousins. I ended up smashing myself on the sharp edge of the house wall. :(
Funny or weird injuries? That has to be the time when I was sixteen. I got hit in the groin twice while playing soccer, but not in the same game (fortunately... :faint: ). Luckily, it's nothing serious...Ouchies.
madartiste - November 7, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
When I was twelve, I was at summer camp and managed to completely wreck my ankle. I was trying to get down off a tire swing and misjudged the distance to the groud. The kicker - it was only about a foot down. Yes, I feel a whole twelve inches and destroyed my ankle. Go me.
Ended up in a cast for six months and having three pins in my ankle. Very stupid on my part.
arthur - November 7, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
Ouch... after reading this post I feel somewhat guilty that I don't have any injuries of such sort... that is if this one doesn't count:
I have an about 1.5-2 cm (or 0.5-0.8 inches) scar that I got when I fainted infront of everybody in January from lack of oxygen (hey, about 120 people in a corridor with all windows closed), cloved my chin and broke off a few teeth. I had to go to the hospital and get the wound sutured. Then I had to walk with the sutures under a special plaster for about a week, then had to go every 5 days to another hospital to get first 3 sutures (of 10) off. All in all this accident and removing its results took me about a month, a pretty nice summed-up bill for private dentist visits to give my teeth a "manicure". Also my classmates were making fun of this from time tome for a half a year. I still have this scar but I'll hide it under a beard I'll grow :)
Hey! I've remembered a silly injury. While I still had PE in previous classes I played basketball and volleyball a lot with my friends. I was playing basketball, started running, jumped for the hoop, missed and went for a land. But landed not on my foot properly but a little on the side. As a result I still had inertion and stepped on my foot's side. I fell down and ouch - pain. At first I thought it was just an instant dislocation when my foot popped back instantly. The pain was strong when I tried moving the foot even with an ice bag applied. After I got home the foot started swelling and the area of pain felt numb. In the end it turned out to be a crack in the foot and 1.5 weeks with a cast and no running or playig till the end of school, woopie :/ .
My friend has two scars after an operation raging from his shoulder to his wrist on both hands. He has a serious problem with his kidneys, they're not functioning completely and don't clean the blood as they have to, so he has to go to the hospital every 3 days to have his blood artifactically cleaned. I'm sorry for him :( it's something that you can not cure.

i don't think this is funny but 2 years ago my brother hit me on the back of the head with a shovel (thank goodness it was plastic) i had a bump on the back of my head for about a week
it's funny seeing him stub his foot though :P i just have to laugh
my dad told me that a few years ago he was doing something in the garage and something really heavy fell on his thumb and it got crushed, he did a quick little prayer and now when he bends both thumbs and puts them together the crushed one looks pointier than the other

sigh...another injury...a piano lid collapsed on my hand today...
arrow - December 10, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
last friday i pasted out after my dad scoulded me,
i hit my head on the top left side of my forehead and my left ear (which still hurts if you press on it in a certain spot)
and the next day i realized i had a light bruise on each knee
that had never happened before

2 years ago my first horse bucked me off an kicked me in the face thus knocking me out and sending me to the hospital (nothing broken)so I had to explain to my classmates why I had a huge Hoofprint shaped bruise on my right cheek.
dRagOniDe - December 25, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
After reading these... I think that falling off the bike ... and breaking your arm.. isn't weird.. but I guess the other injury *serious one* was when i was a little nice clean-minded *ignore that* girl. I was running in school and there was this.. little uh.. stair, lets put it that way, then, a stupid kid pushed me and BOOM, i cracked my skull open and i still have the scar and i will have it for the rest of my life :0
OH OH OH I have another good one.. ok, picture this, to little kids (me and my brother) jumping on a bed, then my brother pushed me against the wall and broke my finger :) what a nice brother..
Yue-chan - December 25, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
well, I have a lot of siblings, and I blame this on the greater majority of them. When we were little we had a rocking horse, and I was playing on it, and the other siblings wanted it, and I refused to give it up. Their solution? They pushed the thing over, with me still on it. Both the rocking horse and my leg went through the wall. Didn't break any bones, but twisted my ankle pretty good.
Sai - December 29, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
The Injury isn't very funny but the way it happened is just wierd. Ok so I was like 6 or 7 years old and I was sliding down the slide at my cosins house. I was sliding backwards on my knees and I fell off and broke my shoulder.

well lets see, as a matter of fact i hurt myself this morning at school
this morning was our grade 8 spirit week competitions
i was part of the "mat push and pull competition" (3 people sat on the mat with 3 scooters underneeth, two other people pushedand pulled the mat), it was my turn to pull, we were 3/4 of the way to the other side and iwas pulling the mat backwards. we crashed into people making their way back, and someone smacked into my left thumb
its a bit swollen and it hurts to move it, and its also hard to type with just my left hand right now too
doesn't life rock?

When I was a little girl...
Once I was ice-skating. I lost my balance and hit the barrier (which was old and in a bad shape) and sliced my throat, brarely missing the artery. Man there was a fuss xD
Natalilly - March 24, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
Not funny, but something to make you all cringe...
When I was in my early teens, i was home sick from school and I the large box we'd just unpacked our new computer from moving about with the tell tale scufflings of a hyperactive cat.
I snuck over to play with her, hiding out of her sight, then waving my hand over for her to attack (I have super cat scratch resistant hands) She didn't go for it, so i popped my head over to see what she was up to and WHAM! She got me right in the eye. i actually ended up having to have three stiches on my eyeball, i was so lucky it didn't hit my pupil or I might have lost my sight on that side.
I still wince when I recall it.
I didn't blame Kitt though. She was just playing and I shouldn't've stuck my head over.
Oooh, another one was in art school, I was doing a lino carve (you dig out a pattern or picture on a piece of hessian backed rubber, and make a kind of stamp with it) and I slipped, jamming a very VERY sharp wood carving tool inot the side of my hand. I have a little ( shaped scar there for my troubles.
I've peeled off layers of skin with a misaimed hot melt glue gun, I've stubbed my toe so hard it almost completely lifted the nail (I didn't noticed until I saw lots of blood) I've jumped off a swing and landed in a belly flop on the ground. (that was probvably funny to watch, but stung like a... word I'm not allowed to say here.) I've scraped a permanant scar on the bottom of my chin when diving underwater in a hurry to escape the notice of a boy who fancied me- and I desperately disliked, I've sprained my ankle by wearing impossibly high heeled boots- and been stubbornly stupid enough to try to manage, ignoring the pain- now my ankle is thicker then normal and aches in very cold weather.
There have been so many occasions I recall having said "That was stupid" After an injury... *sigh*
SilverDragon - March 25, 2007 08:30 AM (GMT)
I was bitten by a guppy once.
The Hydrag - April 6, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
These are greatI feel your pain in allmost all of there but the ones that have happend to me are,
When I was 5 a huge ceramic bowl with a piece of watermellon in it fell on my little finger and poped the nail off. I have a scyth shaped scar there.
My really funny one (yet painfull) accident was when I was jumping on a trampoline and I did a front flip I didnt land it and my ankle slamed down on the metal bar that is around them and it broke it. I couldnt really walk for a few days and then I was finally able to gimp my way around. Never went to the doctor but I have a small flat spot on my ankle from it. That hurt like a bugger. (Hope that isnt a bad word where ever you guys are from)
dolphinliss - April 6, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
that sounds painful. and don't worry compared to other language around here it is not bad. people around here never actually say the bad words like the F word. they do stuff that stands for it.
For example, WTF, stands for what the f___
Kay Yasha - April 8, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
I have a burst blood vessel in my left iris. It's not painful per say, but I have a small red spot in my eye. Because I have blue eyes it stands out. My friend Ali says it's proof I'm a demon. ^_^
The Hydrag - April 8, 2007 03:50 AM (GMT)
That happend to a kid on my wrestling team this year but rather than just a small spot everything that was white went red so it was green eyes surrounded with red.
black and gold dragon - June 7, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
you may not understand but the hardest to explain wound i have had was actually a tie. i have two. well one was a dream about my fanfic the evil in us all. i woke up in the morning and felt stiff and extreme pain in my left side. the second would be the time i stared into the eyes of a rattle snake. the rattle snake slithered up. i looked at it in the eyes. it went away i felt pain i my head as if a milion baseball bats hit me. concidence..............I THINK NOT.
