Title: I'm Getting Seriously Confuzzled...

Well, it seems that we can no longer be jealous of the Canadians for getting new eppies before us, seeing as they are airing in fairly random places (like South Africa, New Zealand, and the Phillippines).

This makes me wonder why a Canadian show would be aired first outside of it's own country.

Discuss.

Well, the show is only produced in Canada. Dragon Booster was created by and is owned by The Story Hat in Rhode Island. Nerd Corps was brought into being for the purpose of animating the show, and judging from what's written in the end of the credits, it looks like they established Nerd Corps in Canada to take advantage of generous tax credits the Canadian government offers to attract the TV and film industry. Arrangements like this are pretty typical. Disney, for example, has all the animation for its TV series done overseas. Though the relationship between The Story Hat and Nerd Corps is a bit different since Nerd Corps writes some of the scripts as well as animates them. So while the Dragon Booster property is technically owned by an American company (and licensed through Alliance Atlantis which is a Canadian company, just to make it more complicated), let's just say that Dragon Booster is joint American and Canadian show and not worry about how to break it down.

As for when episodes air in the various countries, I imagine this has to do with when a particular TV network is trying to fill an empty slot in its schedule and when the local customs dictate new shows should air. For the US, nothing new ever airs during the summer because the kids get of out of school for summer break sometime in the May-June timeframe. Once this happens, families start taking vacations and doing outdoor activities, and hence no one's home to watch TV. The networks don't want to air new episodes when no one is watching, so everything goes into re-runs all summer. The kids go back to school in September, people stop taking vacations and are staying home and watching more TV (because they're staying inside more as the weather cools off), so the networks start rolling out their new shows then. Thus, each new season of Dragon Booster begins airing each September here.

Customs like this vary from country to country, so the skewed schedule doesn't surprise me, particularly between hemispheres where the seasons are reversed. Though it's kind of a bummer for us here on the forum since we can't all discuss the episodes at the same time.

I really don't know why we are getting first....its a miracle to me. I mean were always behind....maybe we stole the eps and wouldn't give it back <_< >_>
