Title: The Mouth That Roared
Description: Episode thirty-five
PyroWarriorZ - October 5, 2006 07:05 PM (GMT)
Yes I have the seen episode, I live in South Africa and usually we ares seasons behind everyone else, but in a brilliant twist of fate we got ahead.....its a miracle. Anyway I thought since this site gave me all summaries when we were behind I be nice and do the same now that i'm ahead.
Note, there will be spoilers in my summary and this is my first so don't be too harsh. P.S. I'm not sure the title is 100% correct cause it flashed by quick, but it something like that.
*********Begginning of Summary************
Moordryd is being followed by a couple of his father's Wraiths, he uses his own Shadow Gear to dissappear and elude them, but Word uses the Wraith's new heat vision sensors to find his son. The Wraiths follow Moordryd and find him buying Black Market gear from a man named Malto. Word watches curiously from his monitor, as he is impressed.
Back at the stables, Arta, Parm and Lance are playing a vid game, just when Artha and Parm are about to win a giant dragon foot crushes them in the game. Lance admits to cheating by altering the game. He is forced to fix the game (Note: Lance claims he did it to show he can also be smart like Parm).
Moordryd promises Malto he will introduce him to Word, in exchange for the illegal gear that is needed for the upcoming race. Just than while fixing the game controller Lance gets a glimpse of Moordryd and his plans through a glitch in the controller. When he rushes to tell Artha and Parm they don't believe him. Moordryd and Armmegadon plot that with the gear not only will they win the race, but take over Dragon City.
At the race, the rules are explained. The racers are placed in a dark dome where they can't see a thing. They can't touch the ground due to sensors or they are out. At the end a doorway will open and first rider out wins. Since they are covered by a dome it gives Moordryd more chance to cheat. The race begins and Artha and Wulph battle it out and Wulph is beaten and sent out because he touched the floor.
Moordryd and Artha also fight, while Moordryd uses the special gear which includes infra vision in his visor so he can see. Than Moordryd attacks Pyrrah and Marianis who are too busy with each other, they are both knocked out. Lance continues to try fix game and gets another view of Moordryd asking Malto for special Elite Dragon Star Gear, he tells Parm, but Parm still won't believe him.
Back in the race, Artha beats Phistus. Moordryd tries to use a whip on Artha, but thanks to some swinging maces it fails. Kitt agrees to help Lance and waits with him at a vent where Malto is suppose to show up, when he doesn't show, Kitt leaves and thinks Lance is lying.
At the other vent, Lance tries his luck waiting with Captain Faier and the Dragon security, when Malto still doesn't show they leave aswell. Lance decides to do it alone when Kitt shows up asking when he will give this prank up, Malto than shows up and Kitt apologises and tells Lance to run. (Note: It appears Malto's Dragon is light green, cause that was the colour of the mag-energy. His Dragon looks like Decepshun cept with light green(almost yellow) and black skin)
Artha battles with Khatah, Moordryd intervenes using Blue Star Gear and knocks Khatah out. The only two contestants left are Artha and Moordryd. Moordryd agrees with Malto to lead Artha to a nearby vent to trap Artha so Moordryd can win.
Lance runs to Parm and tells him Kitt has been captured, still disbelieving in the whole story he starts to believe when Artha's signal dissappears. Parm begs Lance to tell him he was kidding, Lance runs off to help Artha and Kitt and Parm calls the Dragon City police.
Artha and Kitt are seen hanging from a wall over a building by Green Trapping gear thanks to Malto. Malto releases Kitt who plummets down, Lance arrives and throws the game controller into Artha's Green Trapping Gear to free him, Artha frees the rest of his body and Beau and they both plummet after Kitt. He transforms into the Dragon Booster and saves Kitt.
As Malto is about to beat up Lance, The Dragon Booster arrives and they fight. (Note: Malto can use mag-claw, didn't expect a side character to be able to wield it) Dragon Booster defeats Malto and Beua beats up his Dragon. Captain Faier arrives and arrests Malto, Artha runs back to the race. As Artha returns to Moordryd's suprize the gate finally opens in dome. Moordryd uses his special gear to get ahead and tries reach it first. Word appears in Moordryd's comm and warns his son about Malto's arrest and that he must dump special gear in nearby vent or risk getting caught.
Moordryd is left with no choice and does a quick side trip to drop the gear off, giving Artha the chance to get ahead and win the race. Everyone cheers. Captain Faier checks Moordryd, but even with Artha's statement, Malto's confession. They can't pin Moordryd, he says "If I had cheated, would I have come in second?"
Back with the Penn racing crew they talk about Malto and joke with Lance why he never told them about Malto. Lance does a fake laugh and says" Very funny..."
The End!
*********End of Summary************
Whew that was longer than I expected, I took down to much detail. I especially sat with pen and paper to get it all. Sorry if it is too long to read....
All in all it was a pretty good episode, based off the old story. "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". Poor lance, I liked Malto, he was an interesting char. I'm also not sure if that is how you spell his name. It sounds like 'Maul-toh'
Thats my first summary I hope it is useful.

Moordryd impreses him? About time. Moordryd loses? :( :( Serves him right for cheating though... Awesome summary. Good job!

Thanks very much for sharing the summary.
Another one where Kitt is completely useless, it seems, and where a lobotomised world fails to notice the rookie beating up all the experienced Crew-leaders, but other than that I'll reserve my opinions until I manage to see it. Fight scenes are often fun, at least.
Burnout Beau - October 6, 2006 06:13 AM (GMT)
Interesting episode by the sound of it, especially the main event.
But I would like to know what kind of event were Artha and Moordryd participating in? And considering that the participants can't touch the ground, is there some sort of anti-gravitational device that kept them afloat off the ground?
As for this Malto guy, the fact that he can use mag-claw makes him suspiscious to me.
Another thought; why didin't Armeggaddon appear anymore? He made his first appearance in episode 33 and didin't feature anymore. I expect him to feature for the rest of season 3, perhaps as the new main villain and not a minor one.

((Psst Pyro your video recorder working again.))
It is a miracle that South Africa is ahead of everyone. That is just unreal, but I don't mind being South African and all.

I have to agree really good episode. The principle of the dome is brilliant, being inside a completely dark place with no exit with a bunch of races and maces. Trying to dodge maces in the dark O.O
I also like Malto (also don't have a clue how that is spelled) There is just one thing bugging me about him, his dragon looks like a black dragon, he has the dragon eyes symbol on his saddle, everything points to black, but his mag energy is light green (huh) He throws light green mag balls. My only guess it that his dragon is a half breed but green?

Only the riders can't touch the ground or they are disqualified.
PyroWarriorZ - October 6, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
To Burnout, No there wasn't. they just had to stay on Dragons, riders couldn't touch ground. The sensors would pick it up.
Armmegadon does make one small appearance, but just as eyes to Moordryd talking about the gear.
To rest, Thanks guys!
To Shewulph, No, I just got let out of class early, or I did work day before so I could skip class actually!

Lucky you skipped then. But this may help they started to repeat season three on Tuesdays 13:30. It was Paynn Rising this week.
But Malto's dragon still bugs me. The dragon is gold tan and black with green energy <insert very confused SheWulph>
It does feel to me that Word is keeping a closer eye on Moordryd for some reason. Wonder how long it will take Word to piece together that Moordryd is the Shadow Booster.
PyroWarriorZ - October 6, 2006 02:13 PM (GMT)
As long as it will take everyone else to figure out Artha is the Dragon Booster and no Tuesday doesn't help me at all. I missed Armmeggadon and that is that! WWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOLEH AURUM ARGENTUM!
You mean to tell me that there was Lance and Moordryd, and there was stuff, and yet no Lance/Moordryd brotherly-ness whatsoever?! :faint:
This I can't judge by a summary. I MUST see this episode. *goes on Ebay to see how much teh wide-range satellites cost*
PyroWarriorZ - October 7, 2006 09:08 AM (GMT)
Well Lance and Moordryd didn't even really see each other one in the episode so no brotherly stuff and there wa sno Shadow Booster eiter.....:(

:( When will they have more L and M brotherness?
Artha wins again? Big surprise. I'd like it if someone else won for a change. Maybe Phistus on his big bull class dragon! :P Which reminds me...what are the current standings now? Moordryd was in the lead in Framed, but whoose in the lead now?Whose second and third? How many races are left?
Sarah Frost - October 7, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
Either Artha or Moordryd, but I bet it's still Moordryd. The last race has got to start with Moordryd slightly ahead of Artha, in order to manufacture a nice spot of Fake Tension.
I think they said at one point there were two Academy spots open, which still means Artha and Moordryd in first and second (or just possibly second and first, if that final race takes place at the beginning of an episode rather than an end). There wouldn't be any competition whatsoever for Artha if anyone other than Moordryd got in with him, and the chances of independent!Kitt trying to challenge him seem to have dropped to nil as of Slithercorp.
Liliwen - October 8, 2006 11:52 PM (GMT)
Really? Two spots open? ^_^ Drac! Then obviously Artha and Moordryd would get in, then they both would train further and get even better when they do their booster thing! When did they say that there were two spots open?
PyroWarriorZ - October 9, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
I only thought there was one spot open, maybe it changed. I did mist the last episode, the Defiant. But I remember it being only one, I hope it two so both can get in.

Just seen this eppie yesterday. And, yep, the fact that Malto has mag-claw ability is because he's not only a black market trader, but also an Elite-Class racer. However, his mag colour appears to be light green, which looks rather odd considering the rarity of light green draconium in Dragon City.
Poor Lance, he really got shunted by everyone, thinking that he was lying. He should've deserved some credit for trying to prove on his own that Moordryd's cheating. :bblast:

well i can't wait to see this episode for sure
wow, lance is a smarty pance :P nad he is practicly the main character for this episode by the looks of it

Mari - November 5, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
I just saw this episode and I must say it's very good! It shows that Lance is capable, even though everybody else doesn't think so. AND MALTO'S DRAGON IS SO COOL LOOKING!
But Malto's dragon confused me. Clearly Malto is of Dragon Eye orientation ((on his saddle there is the Dragon Eye symbol)) and his dragon has the traditional lack dragon build- large head, long neck, slender body and a very snake-like appearance. However, Malto's mag is a strange green color. Not quite gold, not green and clearly not black. So.... what color is his odd, yet beatiful, dragon? :plot:
QUOTE
But Malto's dragon still bugs me. The dragon is gold tan and black with green energy <insert very confused SheWulph>
But remember that the scales ((possibly)) reflect the secondary influences. Clearly there's black and possibly grey. The gold-tan also confuses me. I highly doubt that a blackmarket thief would have a gold influence, which is usually associated with noble and honorable people. (Goodie-goodies :D )
WAIT! I JUST HAD A THOUGHT! On the official website, here's the description of Old City:
QUOTE
Fully 3000 years old, the original Dragon City contains many secrets waiting to be discovered, hidden races of dragons, dangerous old temple ruins and terrifying and destructive forgotten dragon bone-marks!
Perhaps Malto's dragon is of a new race that we haven't heard of yet? :plot:
Ethe - November 5, 2006 07:23 PM (GMT)
Malto's dragon is either a mixed breed (black/brown/light green, maybe? oO;;) or, like Mari said, some hidden species we don't know about yet.
I just saw this yesterday morning. Almost missed it, if I hadn't woken up on time. It was a good episode, I was just kind of confused as to how the whole dome thing worked. Were they, like, running around in circles trying to beat each other off their dragons, or were they following a set path? Because, seriously, how could you follow a set path in pitch black.
Speaking of pitch black, how could Wulph and Khatah see Artha so well in the dark, as to be able to fight him, if the only light they really had was the mag-lightness from their dragons? It doesn't make much sense to me, but I suppose it's Dragon Booster.
But I do hope we learn a little more about Malto... ;]
Mari - November 5, 2006 07:58 PM (GMT)
Don't forget in All Is Not Lost ((with Stewardd and the Muhorta)) that Beau made the dark cave light up with a mag burst. Then, somehow, after the burst faded, it stayed light. Perhaps the dragons have a way to make some of the draconium in their bones glow faintly to produce light? Just a thought...
The Furox - November 6, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
This episode was OK, though it didn't grab me as much as others. The race sequence and the fighting is fun and all, but it doesn't really advance the overall story nor does it develop the characters in any new way. So for those reasons, this one won't go near the top of my favorites list.
At least there's the continuity of Word keeping a closer eye on Moordryd now that he knows there's a connection to Armeggaddon. And Word does seem to be showing more concern for Moodryd now. I wonder if he's truly experiencing paternal instincts, especially since Armeggaddon is almost acting like a surrogate father for Moordryd and sort of stealing Moordryd away from him, or if Word has a need for Moordryd in his future plans and he needs to keep Moordryd around for that. If I had to guess I'd say it's probably paternal instincts since that's nice and wholesome and is a Good Thing to portray on kid's TV. :P
Though speaking of kid's TV, I was a little surprised to see Malto committing attempted murder. When he dropped Kitt, Artha and Beau from the track, the fall was so high that there would have been no way for them survive. In his mind, he must have known he was killing them since he didn't know Artha and Beau could transform and fly. Dragon Booster has a pretty young age rating (TVY7 here in the US, which means for kids 7 and older), and I didn't know that implied attempted murder was allowed. I guess because it's only implied. Interesting. There certainly have been life and death situations in other episodes, but Malto's act seemed much more blatant.
Oh, and Dragon City Security isn't very bright, are they. :) They checked Decepshun for illegal gear at the end of the race, but it should have been obvious to them that Moordryd could have easily ditched it while in the track. They should have known to search the track as well.
And did everyone notice that all the other officials from the Academy that were viewing the race were all dressed like Sentrus? :D They're obviously re-using the same character model, but I guess we'll say that's the official attire for Academy officials. ;)
QUOTE (Mari @ Nov 5 2006, 09:04 AM)
But Malto's dragon confused me
You and everyone else. :D His dragon has the body profile of a black dragon, but spouts green draconium energy. And while I haven't had a chance to go back and compare it to Cyrano's energy, I believe it's a different shade of green. In fact, it looks like light green. But The Keepers are supposed to be the ones with light green dragons, and Malto's dragon doesn't look anything like Gunny. So I don't know. I guess it's a mixed breed, like a black/light green hybrid. I don't think they're likely to introduce any new species of dragon at this point, so I think it's got to be one of the 12 known colors or a mix.

|
Yeah, that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me either. Is it supposed to be pitch black in there or not? The riders seemed to be able to see a short distance in front of them, but there was no obvious light source when the dragons weren't using their mag energy. I guess we're not supposed to think about it that much. :D

Sentrus definitely said one spot back in "Paynn Rising." I don't recall that having changed since then, though obviously it will by the end of the season since we know both Artha and Moordryd get in. But I think it's still one spot at the moment since that keeps the tension going in the races.

It was probably against the rules. The point of this race was after all to fight in the drakness. That's probably why Moordryd was provided with some extra stuff in his helmet, I guess.
I really liked this episode, although it didn't bring anything important to the plot. This Malto guy is teh kewl! Finally a new bad guy in da town. Not to mention his dragon, whether it was a hybrid or some mutant it was great. And it also showed us another side of Dragon City- black market. I can imagine a little crime underworld existing in the Work City or even lower. Anyway it's great how in the 3rd season the DB world started to 'live'- more characters appearing, random people talking, new animation not only for the main chracters (look at the Race Marshall! ^^)
What annoyed me was how easily Artha got out of the dome to fight Malto. Anybody could've done that and wait for the others to beat eachother up. Blah. And how they made such a big fuss about that stupid VIDD-game hacking. Jeez, Lance is just a kid. Also, if you don't cheat you don't really try, xD
Kitt was useless again. ><"
I wouldn't be my lovely self if didn't blab something about Moordryd: lol I liked it when Word was spying on his son but helped him in the end. And how he said 'You'll have some explainig to do after the race' he could've added 'You're grounded!'
I like when they're behaving more like evil father/evil son rather then just like partners in crime.
Rivit - March 26, 2007 10:26 AM (GMT)
This episode was fully dedicated to show the importance of Lance. They are actually trying to get the audiance think lance also can do some heroic thing. That eventually would make him one of the five boosters (I guess Blue Booster)...!!

Now we know where all the airbenders went. They went to act in DB! *shot*
Anyway, this was a good episode. I liked the shots inside the dome, and the animation in general.
Lance has been watching Monty Python, judging by the giant foot. Anyone notice it was Libris' foot?
I'm kind of glad Kitt isn't racing any more. It was getting on my nerves how she kept getting knocked out.
Speaking of which, why are Wulph, Pyrrah, and Phistus still in? They've been knocked out more times than Kitt!

Well, Artha didn't go out voluntarily. Malto laid some kind of trap for him after Moordryd asked him to help cheat more. We never saw exactly what Malto did, but he must have lurked in the darkness with the trapping gear at the ready. Artha was clearly caught by surprise.

It's not at all clear. The only explanation I can see is that there were more trials that took place off camera between episodes and they all gained enough points to keep competing. More likely though is that the writers didn't want to have Artha and Kitt competing against each other too much, so they scripted in the other racers.
So was anyone else amused at how closely the two DC Security officers were looking over Decepshun for banned gear? Take a look at this screenshot:

How closely do they have to look? I mean like where would she have been hiding the gear if she had any? I don't think dragons have pouches and I don't want to think about other possibilities. And what must Decepshun be thinking right then? :D

OMG that is hysterical! I never noticed that when I watched it before. Yeah, D.C.S. seems to miss much of crime/cheating that happens in the races. They have a Barney fife-like quality to them.

I am quite amused with this scene. I have lines for Decepshun. Psi contact
Decepshun: Why are these security guards looking at my body? Are they concern about my health, or are they looking for the gear?
Moordryd: They are not checking on your health, girl. They are checking for the banned gear. I will not tell them the truth.
Decepshun: Those illegal gear nearly sapped my mag energy, and when you urged me to go faster, I was not strong enough.
Moordryd: Please forgive me this time, Decepshun. Let's say we head back to HQ, and you can have all the chocolate you can possible have. Do we have a deal?
Decepshun: It is good offer, and I will forgive you this time. Yummy! I need to sleep. I am tired. I am not going anywhere else. Got it?
Moordryd: You got it, girl.
It is something I though of. I was glad to hear that Word had been using illegal gear. He was a racer, and was impressed with another racer, Zulay. I loved watching this episode.

I liked this episode too, despite the cheesiness of being able to see in a dark dome and race :P
Omg I must say that Malto's dragon is KICKASS!!!! :D He/she is sooooo kewl :3 The fact that he/she is light-green made me more interested in his dragon.
I overall thought it was different then most eps because it's not everyday when we see them racing in a dome that's pitch black with less of a chance of seeing where you're going.
lol I liked the part when Moordryd kept sneaking up on Artha during the race. He kept banging on his helmet to get his attention and when Artha turned around he was gone XD I found that amusing. Squee to Moordryd for being his sneaky self :D
