Title: Vids Editor

Well I reformated my computer not too long ago and I didn't bother reinstalling windows movie maker, when today I realised I needed it...
Anyone know a free program I can download that'll work as well as any other video editor?
Pretty sure my dad has the disc with WMM on it so it'll be a bit before I get that.

Well, have you tried updating windows from microsoft website? Maybe MM will come along too.
I know one Avid free dv. But I removed it very soon. It uses its own video format meaning it has to convert a vid before usage and that takes time and disk space. Although it offers an advanced interface and more functions I, as an amateur who wants functionality and ease in the creation process, still rate it 1.5 out of 5.

Are you sure it didn't just go into hiding? I've had generic files I thought I lost before. With Windows files, sometimes you can just do a quick search of your comp, and find them tucked away in a folder you didn't notice before. The search feature is such a godsend.

I will use these threat to not make another one :D
I have windows 2000 and what I know is that windows movie maker is only for Windows XP. I will like to know if someone know some free program that makes videos too. I have been looking for one but without luck, I have only found video maker that make videos only with photos or screenshots not with AVI or similar.

I'm a Mac user, so I don't have experience with the Windows based movie editors (Apple's iMovie and Final Cut rules! :)), but a quick google search turned up these links:

Free video editing software list for all platforms
Free Video Editing Software For Your Computer
Top 5 Free Video Editing Software Programs
Wikipedia's List of video editing software

Try a couple and see which one you like!
