Title: Slithercorp
Description: Episode thirty-four

SilverDragon - August 18, 2006 07:49 AM (GMT)
I must confess: I haven't seen this episode. Nor has most of the planet. Except for New Zealand, apparently. So, now we know it involves Word's evil version of the Academy and Kitt leading a bunch of mind-controlled crazies in an attempt to destroy the city, according to Super Sonic Booster. Sounds interesting.

Sarah Frost - August 18, 2006 07:55 AM (GMT)
I appreciate hearing the spoilers from Super Sonic Booster, but the episode itself sounds rather...eww. I mean, Slithercorp? Why not call it "Evil Corporation Of Evil" and have done with it? And Kitt finally develops some backbone only to have it blow up in her face? Such are the rewards of wanting silly things like an independent career, girls--you'll try to destroy civilisation itself! But luckily your boyfriend will be able to rescue you and save the day, allowing you another chance to accept your proper place as a woman.

Of course, it might not actually turn out like this, but meh.

Hunter - August 18, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
I was thinking that way myself Sarah. SlitherCorp? At first, i thought that was some kind of joke...

She's had backbone the whole time. So far she got through life completly on her own. I admire that.

Airshadow - August 18, 2006 11:40 AM (GMT)
It did appeared or is other fake episode?

Oh, come on  . Artha saves the day for everyone, not just the "helpless little girls". Kitt has gotten more action than Lance or Parm. In Opposites Attract, Artha was pretty much completely dependent upon her. For once, he was rather useless in an episode.

Hey, if I had the money...and a citadel of doom...I'd make an "Evil Corporation of Evil".

arrow - August 18, 2006 02:58 PM (GMT)
yeah it does kind of sound interesting
but slithercorp sounds a little...yuck
couldn't he have picked a better name for it?
Evil corporation of evil? wouldn't that just give it away?

i'm still am a little bit sceptikal though

How about Paynn-ful Corporation? ;)

For a rather narrow definition of 'action' (ie. physical fighting), yes, definitely. For a broader definition (ie. 'is of actual plot relevance in x number of episodes') Parm definitely wins out. Think of eps like Eye of the Dragon and Paynn Rising where she does absolutely nothing that's plot relevant, and even in eps like Rules of Power she's just backup. Or even rescued, like in this case and a few others.

The thing is, of course, that as remarked in Eye of the Dragon, Artha's simply too powerful to need someone with basically a lesser version of his skills (which, unlike her, he didn't work to achieve, but leave that aside for the moment). So you have Parm-as-brains, and that's necessary, but with Kitt and Lance for the most part you've got two extras lounging around. (In cases like Return of Drakkus' little thieving scene--Parm thinks of it, Lance does Pt I, Kitt does Pt II--it's really obviously contrived to fill out all three parts when it could have been managed by a single character.) But you've also got Kitt hardly acknowledged recently--the racing focus is on Artha and Moordryd, yet she was theoretically the best before Artha suddenly showed up. And it's impressively ironic when (as in Rules of Power, I think) when she spouts some lame Gurl Power line and gets almost immediately taken out by a guy.

I think "Evil Corporation Of Evil" gets across the point so much more elegantly than Slithercorp. (Is that really meant to sound like Lord Voldemort's Muggle front, btw? Easy, DB writers, you've already got abusive!overlord!Lucius and fanon!Draco in the cast.) And the acronym's ECOE, which sounds like Eco, which is all planet-friendly. :P

Draconium Eaters! :eep: I don't think JK has the entire evil organization/strained father-son relationship market cornered. Though both my boyfriend and I did pick up on Word = Voldemort and fannon!Lucius rolled into one. :D I seriously doubt it was done on purpose, but it makes for some rather humorous conversations.

Slithercorp doesn't sound too sinister to me. Just the same, Word should have named his new corporation "Super Happy Fun". It would have thrown everyone off...No one would have suspected a thing... :plot:

Armeggadon - August 19, 2006 12:22 AM (GMT)
So, where does kitt fit ito all of this. Is she mindcontrolled?

Kay Yasha - August 19, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
I agree PennyDreadful, he should have called it something completely OOC just for the comic value. 'Supper Happy Fun Corp.' would be perfect! (And there should be something about bunnies.)

I don't think Kitt is mind controlled. I think she just wanted Artha to lose for once. God knows I do. Maybe Lance made another tasteless sexist joke about her? (Mind you, I think all little kids do this. Cooties, y'know?)

Hunter - August 19, 2006 07:11 AM (GMT)
I hate how it only aired in New Zealand. *shouts to CBC* Let the rest of the world in on this too!

It's kinda weird how a Canadian show airs firstly in New Zealand. I'm shoving this ep into the 'status unknown' box.

They can't hear you. They're busy being unpredictable again.

Slithercorp, huh? I swear, I have heard that name before in another fandom...but wow, what unexpected evil lurks through that industry? D00m 0n Dr4g0n C17y *is killed for using 1337*

Liliwen - August 20, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
When I first heard Slithercorp, I wondered how that could be a real episode. It reminded me somewhat of Harry Potter and house Slytherin or something.

Me too. He can't win all the time! Give someone else a chance, make the storyline less predictable... *hopes Moordryd will save the day again...*

SilverDragon - September 4, 2006 11:34 AM (GMT)
Better yet: kill both of them off and have Kitt save the day!

You know what i think? I think that the CBC is getting a bit brain dead, and they can't make up any more mediocre episode names. So what do they do? They take a famous word, from a famous book, and slap on a different ending to it.

Airshadow - September 5, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
^_^ ^_^ Hey

Perhaps they should ask help of some our talents fansfics writers

...you mean The Story Hat, right? They write the scripts, pass it to Nerdcorps for animation, and CBC just shows it when they want to. :P

Rhian - September 6, 2006 12:22 AM (GMT)
Imagine in this episode some one who looks like Draco Malfoy, his father, Lord Voldamort or some other Slytherin/Deatheaters make an apearance? Hey that's not a bad idea *starts writing another Fanfic which my never be finished*

Sorry just had to put that after reading the name.

PS the idea's mine!!! LOL

Liliwen - September 6, 2006 09:20 PM (GMT)
Draco Malfoy making an appearance? Moordryd, meet your twin... They look alike... come to think of it, Artha looks a bit like Harry...

Penny Dreadful - September 6, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
Yep, because Draco totally has that unibrow thing going on......and the psuedo-mullet. ^_^

Sarah Frost - September 7, 2006 03:45 AM (GMT)
We only know Draco is blonde and pointy. :P For the rest, Tom Felton attempts to fill the gaps in imagination.

I don't think Moordryd's particularly pointy, though. He does seem quite the less witty version of fanon!Draco, with the comparable increase in competence (he's not just the schoolboy rival) and the Daddy Issues.

Penny Dreadful - September 7, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
Hehehe, blonde and pointy. ^_^ Well, movie!Draco isn't exactly the way I picture the character either (on many levels). Of course, given the little illustrations in most of the books, I'm not quite sure he's Moordryd's long lost double either. I do, however, see the fannon connection.

Or Flappy Bob's Learn-a-Torium. Like in Fairly Odd parents.

The Furox - September 19, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
According to tv.com, episode 34 is called "Venomcorp". It will air in the US on Oct 28 and will therefore probably air in Canada a few weeks before that. The episode summaries on tv.com can be a little off, but so far they've always gotten the episode titles and air dates right, so I tend to think this is the correct title. The name "Slithercorp" might just be a miscommunication as it made it's way around the Internet. They're clearly similar type names.

oh maybe you can findout when the Difiant will air in both Countries

I have all the US airdates up through episode 34 listed on the front page of dragon-city.org and on the Chronicles page as well. Basically, there's a new episode every Saturday morning with a re-run on Sunday.

I'm afraid I don't have any info on when the CBC plans to air the remaining episodes. From what people in Canada report, it appears the CBC doesn't know either.

Liliwen - September 19, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
*fumes at the CBC* By the way, what was last Saturday's episode in Canada? I missed it! :( Was it return of drakkus part two?

And can't Kitt see that Word owns Venomcorp? Why go to a place owned by him? Plus the name is evil sounding...

Sarah Frost - September 19, 2006 11:11 PM (GMT)
The new name makes me think of the "venom ****" bad!sex cliche. It's still another synonym for "Evil Corporation Of Evil". Grow a brain next time you grow some ovaries, Kitt dear.

Penny Dreadful - September 19, 2006 11:59 PM (GMT)
Tch, as far as the "good guys" go in DB, Kitt seems to be on the intellegent side. Mind you, intellegent doesn't always equal common sense. If it did I wouldn't have run face-first into eight parked cars in my lifetime (my friends keep count). Once I even got a running start...All in all, not a proud day for Kelley, that one...

SilverDragon - September 20, 2006 03:11 AM (GMT)
I'm thinking that these new episodes don't have the same feel as the early ones. At first it was 'We're trying to tell a great and unique story here' but they failed at that a tiny bit (see: Artha, Kitt). But now, going into the last few episodes, it's like 'Oh-HO! We only have a few eps left to write, so why not we just go and WRITE RANDOM STUFF AHA!'.

Oooh! I wanna play too!

As far as the "good guys" go, Artha seems to be on the egotistic side. Mind you, I quite enjoy the spotlight too sometimes. I also sometimes spend late nights alone in the labs or the libraries, and I see the possums gambolling on the trees or grounds when I finally go home. And so my mantra has become: "Sarah. Do not chase the possums." Therefore Artha must just love furry little draggums!

Can I share more heartwarming personal anecdotes now?

Kay Yasha - September 20, 2006 07:08 AM (GMT)
Well at least it's not 'ZOMG Voldie-Word!' anymore.

I could make an Anecdote involving that stuff. But it'd be NC-17 and thus unpostable on the board. How about we keep it clean and leave the honey out of it?

To clear up the name thing it episode is called "Slithercorp" (I really dislikes that name) It just aired in South Africa just a few minutes ago.

My opinion, ep filler.

And to all that is wondering Kitt is turned into a wraith. Which was interesting. But I don't want to spoil everything, if you want a summary I will give it. :)

SheWulph - September 29, 2006 07:49 AM (GMT)
Ooo spoiler it is. Short summary.

The ep started of with a racing scene. (like we didn't expect that one) The track looked like a mix between the gantlet and a normal track, the same big hole in the middle of the gantlet was still there and Artha falls into it. Kitt has to go back and help him which results in her losing and because of that was out of the Academy standings. She was ticked, but rumors got the her via other racers of this Slithercorp, which trains racers to become Elites by bypassing the Academy.

Kitt goes for an interview at Slithercorp, but the rest of the gang suspects something is wrong and goes off after her to investigate. Long story short they found out Word is behind Slithercorp and is using it to get racers for his wraith army. (something I must add here, Word has robots...which was disturbing...the robots looked like talking mag racks...)

Now the interesting part, Word turns Kitt and a few others into wraiths and sends them out to cause havoc. DB tries to stop them and gets his behind kicked. Parm comes up with the idea to destroy Words transmitter to disable the wraith gear (left out all the techno babble parts).

Artha, Parm and Lance gets into Word's citadel by getting themselves captured, then escapes. (leaving out the how they escaped and how the got passed the wraiths). Artha not DB attacked, SB shows up to stop him, long story short Artha destroys the transmitter. Returning Kitt to normal. Then ending scenes, which I won't spoil.

I left out a lot of stuff. This ep really felt to me like an ep filler, it's kinda of a side story. Not much to tell really. *Shrugs* I hope I did it right, I'm not good at summaries.
