Description: Tell me how u like it. I think it's good

arthur - July 10, 2006 04:03 AM (GMT)
Hello there. I had bothing to do at daytime because it was hot (+36C!!!) so I decided to write this fic. Here goes...
[Aw man, MS word crashes when I try to save as html, stupid microsoft :D]

The exodus

Chapter 1: new hopes

There's nothing worse than sleeping like a dead man.

“Don't sleep like a dead man.”

-Confucius

Sun city , the top of Dragon city, the buildings look like sculptures and the sun shines directly on top of it leaving questions why is it called like that away, even at night it seems spectacular. Below it lies Mid-city, the overpopulated part of Dragon city. Somewhere in the streets of Mid-city, in an alley, a 16 year-old boy was laying unconscious, he has not too long black hair, emerald blue eyes and was wearing a white summer shirt. He started to move.

"Ugh...ugh, what a nightmare." He groaned, and sat up. The strange atmosphere maked him a little uncomfortable. Slowly, the boy opened his eyes and feelt a chill roll through his body.

"Wh... Where am I? What happened?" he thought to himself "Where have I seen this place? Ugh! My head!" he grabbed his head, and tries to stand up. Slowly, but steady he walked out of the alley. It was early morning and there wasn't a single soul on the streets. The first thing he saw was a draconee-yum bar poster on a window of some shop. The ground under his feet began to slip away (you know that feeling when you feel your legs and hands sway), he closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths trying to stay calm.

"This is a dream...ow!" he pinched himself hard. "Ugh, bad idea... So it's not a dream... its a very weird nightmare!"

The anxious boy began to walk slowly, but stepped on something. He removed his foot and looked down, it was a black wallet, he picked it up and inspected it. There was no ID in the wallet, only a bunch of bunch of weird money. Since there was no sign of anybody on the street, he thought of this as a gift and put the wallet in his pocket and continued walking. He wasn't sure where he was going, he stopped on a corner of an intersection and looked at the buildings then at the streets. In the other end of street a few dragons speed by.

"So, I'm in dragon city. Where now?" The boy asked himself and his mind gave him the answer "Penn Stables".

"Great idea!... Would be if I knew where it was" he murmured to himself as he continued walking with his nose down.

After walking straight for a few minutes he walked to the edge of the road, he leaned at the safety fence and began looking at the sight before him. Tall buildings and roads. The boys look began to slowly lower. Bingo! Directly in front of him and a few levels lower was Penn Stables.

"I'm feeling lucky today!" he said loudly with a obvious rise of his spirit. Suddenly he heard a growl.

"Hmm, can't go on with an empty stomach. Wonder there's a diner or something like it nearby." he wondered off.

"Damn, I am lucky" he saw tables outside and a waitress cleaning them. The now almost happy boy approached the cafe and took a seat.

"Um, we're not quite open yet, sir" said the waitress.

"Then I'll be the your first customer for today" he said with a smile.

"I'll go get the menu" said the waitress and was about to leave when the boy stopped her.

"Bring me a cup of black tea and two sandwiches"

"Um... that's our breakfast special, you get a complimentary candy bar with the tea... but how did you know, we added this to our menu this morning?"

"Tis my lucky day"

The waitress gave a slight smile and walked away. Soon she brought the order "That will be five dracols."

The boy took out his wallet there were papers of five colors, he drew one and gave it to the waitress.

"Um, that's only two dracols, sir"

"Huh, oh sorry, here. Can't do a thing right while still sleepy." he took the money back and drew another. "I hope that's it" thought to himself.

"Thank you, sir."

As the boy was finishing his breakfast, dragons and people began to appear in the streets, it was still pretty early though. The waitress came to take away the dishes.

"Excuse me, do you know the shortest way to Penn Stables?"

"You're not local are you?"

"No"

"Well, you can take a right just over this corner, them walk two blocks straight, them take a left, go straight and then turn right, then..."

"Any shorter ways?" he said after loosing his enthusiasm.

"Well you can take the right turn over that corner at the end of the first alley there will be a ladder leading down, after, it's a straight road to the left leading to Penn Stables."

"Great!"

"But the ladder is old and hasn't been used for a long time."

"Did I tell you it's my lucky day?" he said walking away.

"Wait!"

"What?"

"You forgot your change"

"That's not my change"

"Huh? But..."

"That's your tip" the boy said as he walked around the corner.

"Fifteen dracols, for a tip? Well, I hope he doesn't fall, the ladder is 65 feet high" the waitress thought.

He found the alley, at the end of it was a safety fence and a ladder. He looked down, and whistled "It must be 50 feet at least, oh well".

Climbing down was easy until the ladder squeaked loudly. It was still 30 feet to climb down. The boy continued climbing down 15 more feet until the ladder broke.

"Oof!" he fell into a pile of boxes. Luckily it was enough to soften the fall. "Uugh"

After a few minutes of laying around he got up and got out of the alley and turned left. After a few minutes of walking Penn Stables was right in front of him. The boy looked at the building which still had obvious signs of damage. Then he saw Cain and Coershun sneaking around the corner to the entrance gate, as Cain was getting of Coershun he dropped something like a disruptor flash from a side bag of his dragon. Then he climbed over the gate.

The boy gave an evil smile, a plan arose in the boys mind. He began to approach Coershun slowly. Not actually sure how it will turn out.

It's kinda not what I wanted, but part 2 is better. I have finished up to chapter 6 but I need you to decide a name for our new hero. I chose Alucard as a temporary.
P.S.: There might be typos! I write this fic with my Nokia 6630 :P
P.P.S.: I've noticed that paragraphs from MS Word don't work so it I'll think of something to make it look better. (Edit: Aw man, same thing, only paragraphs work ) :faint:

SilverDragon - July 10, 2006 05:44 AM (GMT)
I quite like it. It has an interesting idea, and the only problem I saw with it was that you repeatedly switched between past (he said, she looked) and present tense (he says, she looks). Stories should be written in either one or the other (Don't even think of writing it in future tense! <_<). But otherwise, it's a good read, and it paces itself quite nicely. :)

Whoops, I think I missed something when I was changing from present to past. Thanks anyway. I'm really itching to upload the further chapter ^_^ but I need a name. Plz help me with that, I don't like Alucard for some reason (maybe beacause Alucard is the name of the vampire-demon from Hellsing).

A slight teaser:
FOUR pages, 1598 words! 6940 characters.

So, suggest the name if you want the chapter two, then three, then four, then...

The Furox - July 10, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
It reads and moves along at a good pace. Though given that the main character is clearly out of place, I'd expect him to spend more time trying to figure out why he ended up where he did. In other words, he should be going over the last thing he remembered before awakening here. Also, what would make him choose Penn Stables as a place to go? And if he's from out of town, would he recognize Cain and Coershun? I'm not trying to be critical, just trying to see how he connects with this.

QUOTE
P.S.: There might be typos!

Yes, there are. :) You might want to proof read a bit more.

QUOTE
P.P.S.: I've noticed that paragraphs from MS Word don't work

Yeah, that happens. Before you post it, try saving the document as HTML then open that file in a browser window. You should be able to copy and paste the text into the text entry box on the forum and retain the spacing between paragraphs.

Let's see, as for a name for your character, were you looking for a common name or something really exotic? For common Dragon City names, there are things like Gyll and Symon. If you want to go with an exotic name, then it should be something based on some characteristic he has. For example, he's lost at the moment, so if he finds himself frequently lost like this, then his name could be Asteray which is a variation of "astray". :)

SilverDragon - July 10, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)
Basically, names in Dragon City tend to be either mythological in origin (Artha, Lance, Moordryd), or simply words misspelt (Wyldfyr, Hyve, Wulph). In some cases they are combinations of two words (like Brutaris: Brute+Taurus). Simply pick a word that describes your character and alter the spelling (If you need help, Mari put up a good naming guide in this section).

arthur - July 10, 2006 08:23 AM (GMT)
Well, I've stopped on the name of Davit, the youngest son of Jesse, lived in Bethlehem in Judah. While still a young man, he fought and slew the Philistine champion Goliath.

Chapter 2: first vision, the unanswerable

“If you have already loved this world once. Stand side by side and try again.”

-from Final Fantasy VII Advent children

The boy slowly approached Coershun and tried to pick up the disruptor flash but Coershun noticed him, gave an angry look and led out a shallow growl. A drop of sweat ran down boy's head, he slowly stood up.

"Um... you dropped this" he said and put the disruptor flash on the back of Cains seat, the device began blinking. Coershun made a look as if saying "thank you", the boy walked away with a grin.

"Guess Cain's dragon isn't the brightest tool in the shed." he said to himself quietly. He climbed over the gate, Cain was probably done with whatever he had to do. Artha's voice was heard around the house and Cain was already running towards the gate. Artha was almost close enough to catch Cain but the boy stood in his way and made Artha slow down.

"What are you doing, he's getting away!" Artha shouted

"He won't!" the boy said as he watched Artha push a button on the wall. The gate began to open and Beau was already by Artha's side and growling towards the stranger. Soon there was an explosion and Cain flew like a bird over the gate dropping something round, it rolled over to the boy's foot. Artha and Beau were surprised by this, the boy picked up the strange device and handed it over to Artha.

"I believe this is yours, Artha"

"Uum, yes... ergh... thanks" Artha was confused.

Connor Penn and Lance ran out of the house to find Cain laying around in the middle of the yard.

Cain was seeing crowdrags flying in circles over his head. Meanwhile Beau was confused and looked at Cain then at the boy with an obvious expression.

"No, I'm not with Cain, Beau"

Cain snapped out of it and yelled to Coershun

"What are you staring at, get me outa here!" Coershun magged Cain on "This isn't over Penn brats" they ran of.

"Gee, thanks again." Artha said still not believing what he had just seen "That was very drac what you did wit Cain, what did you do?"

"I planted a disruptor flash he dropped on the back of his seat."

"Not bad. Cain was after the map, we don't know where it leads but if Paynn wants it so bad it must be something important. I am Connor..."

"Penn, I know. You are Lance" he looked at Lance "You are Artha and your dragon is Beau, we've already met."

"By the way how did you know our names?" Artha asked.

"It's kind of a long story"

"And what is your name?" Connor asked.

"Call me Davit. I was wondering if I could stay in your place. I see you need to do some repairs, I will gladly help and that way I will earn my keep."

"Well, Davit, you are welcome to our home and your help will come in handy."

"Does that mean I won't have to clean after the dragons anymore?" Lance said cheerfully

"Yes, Lance, that means you will have to clean after the dragons" Artha joked

"Drac! H... Hey! You tricked me! Daad"

"Artha's right Lance"

"O-oh" Lance walked back to the house with his nose down

Davit and Beau grinned at this.

"So, when should I begin?" Davit asked

"You can help me get Beau ready for the race today." Artha suggested

"You have a race today?"

"A pretty long one too."

"Then good luck! Lets go"

"When you're done come to me, I'll be in the house" Connor said and walked away.

"Okay, Mr. Penn. "

Artha, Beau and Davit went to Beaus stable. Artha asked Davit to bring some gear. As Artha was cleaning Beau with a brush and Davit was getting the gear lined up for Beau they had a conversation.

"So, where are you from?" Artha begun

"I told you, it's a long story. Also so confusing that even I have a headache from it. I'll tell you later."

"How about what had just happened?"

"What about it? I just popped out in the right time in the right place. What was Cain after anyway? What's in that map?"

" We're not sure, it leads out of the city. Heh, one thing's for sure: if Word gets his hands on that map he would get what's ever in there and that would be no good. Right Beau?"

Beau nodded, Artha was done with the cleaning and let Beau mag the gear on. Artha went to the house to get his helmet.

"It's not that easy being Dragon Booster and fighting for peace and being Artha Penn and racing to be appreciated, is it? Especially whem Word Paynn keeps pressure on both." Davit asked Beau. Beau made an obvious "Huh?" sound.

"Don't worry, I know all about you and Word's plans as well. I will help you as much as I can." Davit reassured Beau. "But right now, try to keep an eye on Artha. I know what a hothead he can be sometimes."

Artha came back.

"What are you grinning about?"

"You."

"Me? What's so funny about me?"

"Ask Beau. Anyway, good luck to you in the race... and, try to keep your hot head cool this time."

Beau chuckled at this.

"Oh, very funny Beau! Lance told you this, didn't he? Lets go boy." Artha climbed on his seat and ran away.

Later that evening.

It was getting dark and everybody was in the house discussing the race today. Artha was filled with joy and holding a grand-prize cup (second in his life).

"Congratulations Artha. I'm proud of you." Connor said

"Yeah, congrats. But I see you didn't keep your head cool as I told you. And you drained almost all of Beau's energy."

"What makes you say that?"

"Oh I don't know. Maybe because you lost almost all of your gear or maybe because Beau felt to sleep like a dead dragon right after you left the stable."

"Looks like someone wasn't using his big fat head again." Lance laughed

"Okay you two, time to go to sleep. Davit did a two-day job repairing the roof so he needs to rest as well as you two. You will have a free day tomorrow, Davit, so Artha will show you around the city. Right, Artha?" Connor asked but Artha was dreaming about his victory.

"Do you think I can polish this one more time to make it shine better?"

"So that's a yes. Good, now go to bed."

"Huh? Yes for what Dad?"

"Oh nothing. Davit will tell you tomorrow. Now go to bed. Where are you going, Davit?"

"I'll go check the stables and the locks before I go to sleep" Davit replied.

Later that night. Midnight

Everyone was sleeping. Davit was sleeping on the sofa. He was seeing a dream:

Paynn's citadel. Moordryd was called by his father.

"You wanted to see me, father?"

"Yes. Recently I came across some info about white and blue armor. Do you know what white and blue means, Moordryd?"

"Blue is for balance and white is for flying and climbing."

"Not exactly. From what I have got, white means energy, pure energy in that armor. Nothing more is known about it. But if that armor has pure energy, it will be the most powerful weapon in the world. Guess who's got the map?"

"You, father."

"NO! THE STABLE BRATS HAVE IT!" Word yelled so loud that Moordryd could swear that it was heard beyond the walls of the room "Luckily, they don't know what it leads to. Get it for me. NOW!"

"Yes, father."

Later. Moordryd is outside the citadel and talking to Cain via comm-link.

"So what is so important about that map, Mordryd?"

"Get that map Cain. It must be very important if my father wants it so bad."

"But it's mid day, they'll see me before I get the chance to get anywhere near them."

"Then go early in the morning tomorrow!" Moordryd broke off the link.

Decepshun began growling towards where Davit was standing.

"What is it? Who's there Decepshun? What?! Who are you?"

Davit felt his legs weaken, the sky turned red.

"What's going on?" Moordryd begun to panic "What are you?" then he drew some kind of an amulet out of his pocket and said "What is this, Armeggaddon?"

Suddenly everything went black, Davit felt falling. A strange voice was getting more and more quiet.

"I don't know. Something is watching us. It's not from this world..."

Davit woke up with cold sweat running down his face and his hands shaking.

"What was that? Did I see the future? No. The past, I saw the past." Davit laid down and spent next ten minutes thinking about what he had just seen. It wasn't long before he fell asleep once again. Many questions had to be answered.

Was this Davit's destiny to be here? What was that armor? Was that vision a sign? Who is that Armeggadon? Why? How? How was it possible for Davit to be here, in the world of the Dragon Booster? Was this another curve of his destiny? After all he went through? After all he suffered? After all that had happened to him? Was this a dream come true? Or a dream become nightmare? Why? Why him? Was he special? Was he just like Artha? Meant to be a hero? What did he have to be chosen for this?

This was so complex.

Does anybody know the tags for text alignment?
Don't know about you but the story gets interesting at this point.
P.S.: If you want to know to find out HOW Davit popped up here - wait for chapter 6: the fairy tale ;).
P.P.S.: Why is the question even I don't know the answer to... yet
:D

arthur - July 10, 2006 10:23 AM (GMT)
I've decided to post the third chapter while I wait for the answer.

Chapter 3: new friends part 1

“To be or not to be? – that is the question.”

-William Shakespeare

The next morning Davit's headache was gone. Even though that vision disturbed his sleep he woke up pretty early. Since he couldn't fall back to sleep he decided to go out and feed Beau, the poor guy was so exhausted yesterday that he forgot to eat.

The stable door opened and Beau woke up. Davit was carrying a big bag of dragon food.

"Good morning, Beau. I think you are hungry today, am I right?"

Beau's stomach let out a loud growl.

"I guess your stomach speaks for himself."

Beau nodded his head and his tongue fell out of his mouth, he could smell the food through the bag. Davit tore open the bag and poured the food in Beau's trough. As soon as Davit was finished Beau jumped to his food and pushing Davit aside an making him fall.

"Gee, talk about good manors." he said sarcastically.

Beau lifted his head up for a moment and laughed at Davit sitting on the ground, then dug back into his food. It wasn't long before all the food in the trough was gone.

"I had a weird dream tonight, Beau. It was a vision of some sort." that caught Beau's attention and he begun to listen. "But I didn't see the future, I saw the past. I saw Word and Moordryd talking as if I was there but they didn't see me. They talked about that map we've got. It leads to some kind of white and blue armor." Beau made a relaxed look, thinking that white and blue draconium couldn't cause much trouble, not as black draconium.

"But white in that armor means pure energy. Word wants that armor to do some kind of weapon. Do you think I should tell this to everyone?"

"No, I think we should wait and see what actions will Word take. Besides that map is very inaccurate." Davit was surprised by Connor's voice "What are you doing here?"

"Ergh… feeding Beau."

"Well usually Artha does that a little later."

"I think Beau wouldn't mind an extra breakfast."

Beau nodded his head.

"Well Beau deserves it, especially after yesterday. Lets go, Artha will get up shortly. Breakfast is ready." Connor watched Davit leave the stable. "I think he will be great as a part of our team. What do you think?"

Beau nodded.

"After he gets a dragon and learns something that is." Connor closed the stable door and Beau got ready to pretend sleeping.

Later. In the yard.

Davit, Lance, Artha, Beau and Fracshun were waiting for Parm to show up. They were planning to go to see the race with Artha and Kitt today. It wasn't long before Parm showed up. He was surprised to see a new face.

"Hiya, Parm. I want you to meet our new friend and hopefully, a new member of our crew, Davit."

"Um, well, yes hello. But we've got to get going if we want to be there on time. Where's your dragon, Davit?" Parmon wondered.

"I..." Davit was about to begin but Artha cut him off.

"He doesn't have one, Parm. He will ride on Beau with me."

"You don't have to be my voice, Artha" Davit replied.

"Did I say something wrong?"

"No, lets go.” Davit rolled his eyes.

Everyone got onto their dragons, Davit had to ride Beau bareback. It was pretty hard to hold on at first but as soon as Davit got the idea how Beau's body movements when he runs the ride became rather enjoyable.

Later. At the racing circuit.

Beau and Artha were already at the start line. Meanwhile Davit, Lance and Parm were standing in the team observation point. Davit was observing the track through the binoculars and Parmon was talking with Artha via comm. link:

"Artha, why did you take level 3 green ramming gear?"

"Because Moordryd's in this race and you know what that means."

"Yes but every time you and Moordryd meet, you lose gear and the race. Hey!"

Davit took the communicator from Parm.

"Artha, take the blue balance and aero gear instead of green ramming on the first mag-rack."

"But there are no jumps in this track. Why should I take that?"

"Yes but I see a shortcut, it is narrow, swirly and no walls but it will make your race at least 2 times shorter and lead you right into the finish straight."

The race was about to start.

"Yes, Artha, but you will never make the moves needed to do it." Parmon interrupted as the race started.

"Don't worry, Artha, I know how to do it. But it's your choice. Remember, the Dragon Booster did greater things than this but even though you are Artha Penn now, you are the Dragon Booster from the inside and you can do this. I believe in you."

"How did you know?"

"I'll tell you about that later. But right now, choose."

"I don't know about this, Beau." Artha said to his dragon. "Should we trust him?"

Beau turned to the mag-rack and changed the gear. He trusted him, especially after he sensed potential in Davit after that "talk".

"I'll trust him as long as you do, boy."

Kitt looked at Artha who was back on the track.

"What are you doing, Artha? Why did you change your gear?"

"I... Kitt, watch out!"

An energy draining whip stuck to Wyldfyr ant pulled him down. Wyldfyr couldn't mag Kitt so she flew out of the saddle and landed on her legs, tripped and rolled sideway for some distance. Her suit did its job protecting the rider. Artha and Moordryd were now side by side.

"What is the white aero gear for? Want to fly away if you get scared? Ha ha ha." Moordryd laughed "Don't worry, I'll ram you of the track so you can do just that." he activated the ramming gear.

A comm link opened, Davit was in the screen.

"Artha, you can get rid of Moordryd"

"Oh yeah, how? Tell him to get lost?"

"Activate your blue balance and level Beau's head with Decepshun's rear legs. Then make Beau ram Decepshun's leg with his head and keep his head that way. Then activate your red thruster and turn to Decepshun's side. You'll turn her to the opposite direction. And use blue balance to keep your balance through this. Come on!"

"Here goes nothing Beau!"

Beau snorted and began to slow down.

"Oh, slowing down to let me win? How thoughtful of you." Moordryd grinned.

When Artha was ready for the move, he did everything as Davit said. All that Moordryd could do was to say "What!?". In result, Decepshun and Moordryd were brought down.

"What a move!" Kitt was stunned by what she saw in the screen. The crowd cheered.

"Drac!" Lance and Parm said at the same time.

"What a move!" Parm was excited "I could've told that to Artha before the race."

"Yeah, only it would take a whole hour for you to explain!" Lance chucled.

"Very funny, Lance." Parm frowned.

"Drac, did you see that! Thanks Davit!" Artha was on the comm. Link again.

"Yes, Artha. But you're not out of the woods yet. Stick to the left side, after the next turn there will be our shortcut. Don't miss it!"

"You got it!" Artha was ready for everything, now that he got rid of Moordryd so easily.

"Yes, but you don't. After you're out of the turn activate your aero gear and push it down slightly ! You don't want to lose speed but you do want to keep Beau on the ground. After you're in the shortcut focus on the road, it is no wider than Beau's body! Just imagine that you are flying. The road is your guide, keep the slight pressure for Beau and keep him stationary to the road. Remember, you are flying and the road is your horizontal line, keep Beau horizontal. Concentrate, release you and the dragon. Good luck. And don't use any other gear or you will fall out of balance! Turn your comm. link off."

"What?! Are you crazy? Artha, don..." Artha couldn't listen to Parm's hysteria.

"Sorry Parm. I don't want you telling me that I can't do this because I can!”

(At the observation point.)

"What have you done? Artha's never gonna make it! He's gonna fall and all because of you. I should have known, Word sent you! If I..."

"SHUT UP! I wouldn't do this if I wouldn't have confidence in Artha. If you don't trust him don't help him for his own..." Davit stopped as he saw Lance's worried look, he crouched before Lance. He put his hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, you trust your brother, don't you? Do you trust him? Do you trust Artha Penn? Do you trust the Dragon Booster?"

Lance cheered up:

"Yeah, I do. I do trust him! Go Artha, go!"

"I can't watch this" Parm looked away and covered his eyes with his hands.

"It looks like Artha Penn is aiming for the Daredevil shortcut!" Came race marshal's voice through the speakers. "No one has ever made it without falling down for the last two hundred years." The crowd echoed, then came grave silence.

"He's crazy!" Kitt whispered to herself.

The atmosphere became tense. Davit put his fingers into fists. "Concentrate, Artha. It's just you and the track. Don't think. Do as your instinct tells you." Davit whispered so quiet that even he didn't hear it...

...But Artha did...

somehow...

" It's now or never Beau! "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 4: new friends part 2

“Luck comes with triple unluck.”

-Batou (Ghost in the shell 2 Innocence)

Now or never. No time to choose, no time to think, no time to waste. Under such conditions your instincts awake and there is only you and your goal... nothing more, nothing less.

"It's now or never Beau!"

Artha began watching the narrow turn for the Daredevil's shortcut. Soon there was no wind that was blowing past Artha and Beau. It was time. Artha took few deep breaths and activated the aero gear.

"Now what did Davit say to me? Concentrate, I'm flying. I need to release the power within. "

He gently pushed his draconium controller forward making the wings push Beau to the ground. As soon as they were on the shortcut Artha's heart began pounding wildly, he was about to panic when he heard his inner voice telling him to stay calm, to concentrate... to believe. Due to adrenaline in Artha's blood time seemed to slow down for him. He did as Davit told, followed the line of the track as if it was his guide how to fly.

"I can't watch this" Kitt said as she watched Artha on the screen. Everyone watched as Artha and Beau ran through the Daredevil's shortcut, full of twists, turns and loops with no walls to protect them from falling.

To Artha and Beau it seemed that they have just entered the shortcut as they heard the crowd go wild and race marshal say through the speaker:

" He's done it! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new daredevil - Artha Penn! "

Artha and Beau crossed the finish line first.

"We did it? We did it! Beau! We did it!!" Artha cheered.

A few moments earlier.

"Oh, don't tell me, is he falling already?" Parmon was covering his face with his hands.

"He's gonna..." Davit began.

"Do what? Fall?"

"He did it!!!" Lance almost fell out of the balcony but luckily Davit caught him.

Lance and Davit rushed to congratulate Artha leaving Parm alone.

The first to congratulate Artha was Kitt.

"You won the Daredevil medal Artha!"

"A what?"

"What in the Magna Draconis were you thinking?!" Kitt suddenly got angry "Who taught you that?! And don't tell me you!"

"Actually I just told him how to do that." Davit appeared with Lance speechless

"And you are..." Kitt began to ask

"Drac! Davit, I owe you a big one for convincing me. I was always loosing in this track." Artha broke her off as he got off Beau.

"Well, to tell the truth. I came up with that idea only before the race and I was afraid a little that you won't be able to make it. But I locked that one away an believed in you."

"Say what?..." Artha's legs began to shake.

Kitt made Wyldfyr roar.

"EXCUSE ME!" Kitt shouted at them "But who are you?"

"Oh sorry, I am..."

"Our new team member!" Artha obviously liked speaking for others "By the way, his name is Davit"

"I can speak for myself, Artha." Davit was getting annoyed. "Nice to meet you, Kitt. Are you and Wyldfyr ok? You fell quite harsh back there."

"A couple of bruises here and there. Thanks for caring." she was cheered up "Unlike somebody." she looked at Artha polishing the medal, all he could do was to make a silly smile.

Later. At Penn Stables.

Everyone came into the yard happy. Except for Kitt and Davit noticed that, something was wrong. Wyldfyr stopped, Davit jumped off Beau but others didn't notice it. Davit came closer to Wyldfyr and looked at Kitt.

"What's wrong?" he asked with a caring voice.

"Nothing." Kitt sighed as Wyldfyr lowered his head for her to get off.

As soon as Kitt's left foot touched the ground she led out a quiet moan and almost fell but Davit caught her.

"My leg hurts." she said with a shivering voice. Davit laid Kitt down on the ground softly. Beau and Lance noticed and came closer.

Meanwhile, the Artha and Parm were in a deep discussion about today's moves, they didn't notice Kitt.

"What's wrong?" Lance asked

Davit was touching Kitt's leg with his fingers looking for the source of pain, he stopped when Kitt closed her frowned from pain.

"Kitt, you should've told about this earlier."

"What is it? Is she going to be ok?" Lance asked

"Yes, Lance, she will be ok. Unfortunately it might be anywhere from a bruise to a crack in the bone. Most likely a bruise but who knows. We need to go to the hospital, Kitt. Do you think you can ride Wyldfyr?"

Kitt was silent for a moment.

"Yes... I can but Wyldfyr can't. He's hurt too."

Wyldfyr had two scratch wounds on one side from the fall, they were bleeding mildly and were barely visible because of his red body. Davit closed his eyes for a moment, sighed deeply, then said:

"Beau, Lance, want to help?"

They nodded.

"Lance, take Wyldfyr to Beau's stable and make sure he doesn't lay down on his bleeding side. Then go get your dad, he'll know what to do, otherwise, lock the stable door and wait for me. Beau, you'll have to take us to the hospital as gently and as fast as possible."

Lance led Wyldfyr to Beau's stable. Parm and Artha were nowhere to be seen. Davit stood up.

"Beau, mag me."

Beau did as he was told. Then he magged kitt on the seat behind Davit

Beau tried hard to mag Kitt without disturbing her leg. As soon as Kitt was in place Beau began moving slowly but soon sped up.

"Kitt, do you know where the hospital is?" Davit tried to stay calm being at 10 feet height and riding a dragon for the first time in the saddle.

"You're not local are you?" Kitt asked.

"No. Actually, I'm not even from this world. I… think..” Davit replied a little tensed. "I'll tell you this evening, ok?"

Kitt was a little shocked by the last sentences, but she kept her questions for later and showed the way.

Later. In the hospital.

Davit was sitting in front of the cabinet where Kitt was. The door was slightly open sn he could heart the conversation.

"Well, Kitt Wonn, you are lucky that you ended up with just a strong bruise. From what you have told me you would've ended up with two broken bones at least."

"Gee, how lucky I am." Kitt said sarcastically.

"Don't worry, the bruise will heal and will you be able to walk in four days. As for now, lets get a bandage on that foot. Nurse." said the doctor and walked out of the cabinet.

"Are you her brother?" he asked.

"Friend. If there's something I should need to know, tell me. I can take care of her." Davit replied.

"Well, she will heal faster if she gets a lot of rest and positive emotions."

"Anything else?"

"No, you will be able to take her home in a minute."

Later. Back at Penn Stables.

Lance, Artha and Parm were tied to the wall by green trapping gear. Moordryd and Cain were grinning.

"So where's the map, stable brat?"

"I don't know." Artha tried to brake free but the effort was futile.

"How about here?" Moordryd opened Beau's stable door and found wounded Wyldfyr. "Well, there's more than one way to make people talk now is it?" he said with an evil smile and drew his energy draining whip. "Torture is one of them." Moordryd bluffed but made it sound like he was actually going to do it.

"You wouldn't dare!" Artha couldn't believe what was going on.

"What are you going to do about it? Bore me to death?" Moordryd grinned

Meanwhile. Around the corner.

"No! Wyldf..." Kitt was about to scream but Davit covered her mouth with his hand.

"Shh... I've got a plan." he got off Beau and took Artha's jakk-stick which he kept under his saddle. "Beau, I'm gonna run towards Cain and ram him so I want you to give me a mag boost. After I do, help Artha and the others. But right now help me get Kitt off you. Kitt, you stay here, I'll come and help you when I'm done. Ok?"

As soon as Kitt was on the ground Davit began running towards Cain.

"Now Beau!"

Wow! great chapter! Great story! Even though you haven't posted it, great next chapter!
Seriousley this is a very good story!

This started out from a fairly interesting premise despite the eyes stolen from a jeweller's, but from about the third chapter it started to spiral downhill with the Sue-ness of the OC ("not even from this world"? Please, please don't tell me he's from our world and has watched the show; even if he is a crossover character he's godmoding too much to fit into the DB world) and Kitt as damsel-in-distress. Even canon doesn't treat her quite this badly.

Ok, it sounds like you're here to critisize. But I tolerate criticism as long as it's not offending. Anyway I thought the whole thing ahead before I began writing and this crossover thing seemed the best thing I could come up with. About the godmoding, sorry if I get you wrong, don't think he's going to be the savior of the world, first he godmods a little, then Moordyd and Artha, later - Kitt. It's just that I've wrote 6 chapters in 4 days, that probably resulted in such little "nonsenses" like Kitt being the damsel-in-distress, as you put it. Anyway, I'm going to take a break and read a book (my teacher gave my class a BIG to-read list. Even Dostoyevsky and the Bible (wtf?) is in that list). But I can make davit the "hero" if others ould ask for it ;) .

Anyway, I don't want to change the chapters I already wrote because most of the time I do such things I just spoil the natural look and make it more synthetic-like.
---------------
Chapter 5: new friends part 3

“You idiots! These are not them! You've captured their stunt doubles!”

-Spaceball Officer

"Now!"

Cain and Moordryd were caught off guard. Davit received a mag push and was running real fast towards Cain. Cain had no time to react as Davit was already 3 feet from him. It was hard to remain a straight line of run being pushed from behind so Davit fell out of balance slightly but still rammed Cain with his shoulder into the wall stunning him.

"What the? Who are you?!" Moordryd scowled by this unwelcome guest.

Davit activated Artha's jakk-stick and tried to hit Moordryd but he was somewhat faster being the Shadow Booster. Moordyd caught Davit with his energy draining whip. The state Davit was in was awful, everything was blurry and he could feel his energy being taken away, his head begun to feel dizzy and it was like a thousand bees were buzzing in his head. Meanwhile Beau freed Artha and he was looking for a way to get his jakk-stick back because Moordryd began building up a mag-ball in his hands from what he had drawn from Davit. Davit began to go for a black-out when he took a grip of himself and threw Artha's staff to him. At that very moment Davit felt a connection through his energy flow to Moordryd... his energy... his, not Moordryd's...

Moordryd was about to release the mag-blast when he felt that he couldn't move his hand.

Artha took that chance and hit Moordryd with his jakk-stick. Moordryd fell on the ground near Cain waking him up.

"Are you ok?" Artha helped Davit to stand up.

"Yeah, I think so." He shook his head trying to snap back to reality.

Meanwhile Decepshun and Coershun appeared from nowhere and magged on their riders.

"New friends won't save you, Artha Penn! We will get what we want!" Moordryd threatened and rode off without waiting for Cain to catch up.

Artha jumped on Beau and put his star in his armor. After he changed to Dragon Booster he said:

"Parm I'll need your help" and rode of.

"Me, but what for? Oh dear." Parm wined as he got onto Cyrano and ran off.

"Wyldfyr!"

It was Kitt, she tried to walk by leaning towards the wall of the house.

"Are you crazy, Kitt? Hold on, I'll help." Davit rushed to help her. He put her arm around his neck and helped her to the stable.

"Lets go get your father, Lance."

"He's not home, I don't know where he is."

"Then get some clean warm water, I'll go look for bandages." Davit and Lance went into the house.

"Poor Wyldfyr." Kitt sat near her dragons head and begun stroking it. "Don't worry, soon Davit and Lance will take care of you. You're really in a too awful shape to go home, we'll stay here till you get better."

Wyldfyr purred calmly and relaxed.

"That new Davit guy, he's really a nice one, Wyldfyr. I like him, he seems to care for us unlike Artha."

Davit was behind the corner listening, after a few moments he decided to show up.

"How is Wyldfyr doing?"

"Oh, not so good." Kitt sighed sadly.

Lance carried in a bucket of warm water and put it next to Wyldfyr. Davit moistened a clean cloth and began to carefully wash Wyldfyr's wounds. Wyldfyr trembled slightly but Kitt was there to calm him down. Lance couldn't watch this so he went back home leaving Kitt and Davit alone.

"Kitt, don't think that I'm the only one who seems to care. Artha does too."

"Yeah right, by polishing his medal... You heard me when I was alone here, haven't you?" Kitt blushed slightly.

"Yes, I did. But Artha didn't notice because you assured him that you were all right back there, and because of that he was sure that everything's ok and could completely give his attention to his victory."

"So it's my fault."

"No, it's Moordryd's fault. Don't blame yourself." Davit was finished with the cleaning and began putting clean bandages on the wounds. Davit and Kitt didn't speak, it seemed to Davit that when it comes to Wyldfyr's health Kitt becomes a very sensitive and loving personality.

Later that evening. The entrance of Penn stables.

Artha and Beau were happy because they kicked Moordryd's butt. Beau magged Artha off. Artha brought a bag food into Beau's stable, Beau stopped him as he could step on Wyldfyr who was sleeping.

Artha was surprised by this, he poured the food into Beau's trough and rushed to the house to find out what happened. His father caught him in the living room.

"Artha, where were you?"

It didn't take long before Connor gave Artha a long morale about what he did wrong. Then everybody went to bed, except for Davit and Connor who were sitting at the table in the kitchen finishing their tea and talking.

"Don't worry, Mr. Penn, she will get well in a day or two."

"She'll stay here for that time. You can sleep in the guestroom. I'm worried about Wyldfyr. The wounds are serious, by the way, did you take care of them?"

"Yes"

"Well, good night, Davit."

"Mr. Penn, what about that map? Is it in a safe place?"

"Yes, Word has no clue where that place is. As for now, I think you should rest. Oh and one more thing before you do, go check on Wyldfyr and Beau."

"Will do."

Davit was in Beaus's stable, Beau didn't mind Wyldfyr and was sleeping.

"Davit." Kitt surprised him from behind.

"Kitt, you shouldn't walk around, go to sleep."

"Not without my bedtime story. Now what did you promise me? Oh right, a fairy tale about a guy called Davit who ended up here." Kitt sat down in front of Wyldfyr and Davit. "I'm waiting."

Well, Kitt is back to normal. Maybe it's time to tell my tale?

Ppl, what's your oppinion on this crossover?

I'm enjoying it so far. It moves along at a brisk pace, though perhaps a bit too fast in some places and some things seem glossed over in a matter of fact way. A few things maybe could connect better. For example, when Davit tells Lance to put the injured Wyldfyr into the stable and then go get Connor, it seems like Connor never made that appearance. When Davit is talking later with Connor, Connor doesn't seem to know what's going on when he asked Davit if he took care of Wyldfyr. And if Wyldfyr was hurt bad, wouldn't they call a dragon doctor? It's also not clear where Connor was when Moordryd showed up later.

Also, I'm not sure Moordryd would ever actually torture anyone (or a dragon) to get someone to talk. That seems a bit extreme for Moordryd. I think he'd be more likely to trick someone into talking.

Davit does seem a bit too knowledgeable and confident. Nothing seems to surprise or mystify him. He seems to fit in a bit too easily as a result and is accepted by the other characters rather quickly. Altogether, he seems a bit too special. Though perhaps you plan to cover why later on.

Davit also hasn't given any clues as to what he wants yet. He's appeared on the scene and starts helping Penn Racing right away without saying why. So he's kind of there and doing stuff, but it's not clear what his story is and where he's trying to get to.

I hope that doesn't sound too critical since the story is fun to read. I hope you continue it. :)

I'm gonna try to improve though. I even dedicated a whole chapter to Moordryd (and thinking of more :D ). I'll upload next chapter tomorrow if I get my phone's datacable to work. Oh and one more thing, Sarah Frost said that Davit is from our world and watched a TV show. True... was! I hope you'll like how I evaded this "prediction" :D.
---------------------------------------------
Chapter 6: the fairy tale

“You want the truth? You want the truth? Well, I can't handle the truth.”

-Dick Solomon

The truth, she wants to know the truth about me. I don't mind though. But will I be understood? Will she accept my truth? I'm not a mind reader, I can't tell… I must find out.

Davit took a deep sigh and there was silence for a moment. Kitt broke it.

"Don't worry, I'm not the one to go around yelling out everybody's secrets or making fun of them. Trust me."

"Well, I was an ordinary boy in just another ordinary city. I was happy with my life, before one day..." there was another pause.

"What day?" Kitt insisted for Davit to carry on.

"The day when the world got mad at me for no reason..." Davit sighed deeply.

"The world got mad at you? What do you mean by that?"

"Yes mad. First, it was mild and I didn't notice it. I only had slight argues with my parents. Then, it got worse. Parents were giving obvious signs of hatred towards me. Even my best friend, whom I knew from when I was 4, even he wasn't my friend anymore. I thought I was loosing my mind, but it didn't make sense, I didn't act like a crazy. As if the world was going nuts without me."

"What happened then?"

"Then, I had to avoid people, even my relatives, in order not to run into any trouble. One night I couldn't take it anymore and ran away. I don't remember where I ran away, I think it was a forest."

"What did you do then?"

"Nothing, I just sat down to take a breather and somehow fell asleep. And then... I woke up here. I was lucky to find Penn Stables, I didn't know where else to go. I think you know the rest." Davit was depressed after this. "Do you know why I know everything about you all?"

"Why?"

"Believe it or not. But when this all started I began to see dreams each night, you were in those dreams, it... was like watching a TV show or something. That freaked me out, I mean two dreams are ok but when every night you watch the life of people from here, it is crazy. And doesn't make any sense."

Kitt was looking at Davit like at a madman.

"I knew you wouldn't believe me. And why did you have to ask me to remember this, do you know how it's hard for me?" Davit was getting sick of all this.

"But…"

"Please! No more questions." Davit was depressed.

Kitt sighed. "Alright. Lets go get some shut eye."

"You go. I'll came along later."

After Kitt left Davit waited for some time alone before he went to the house.

Meanwhile. In Word's citadel.

Moordryd waited for his father to finish wining about his failures and went to his room. He drew a dragon eye medallion out of his jacket and said:

"Armeggaddon, what happened back there at the stables? Who was that? Why didn't you help me?"

"It looks like Artha Penn has a new ally, he has some power. Also, he knows my presence, he used his own energy stream that was flowing through your body to isolate me. To make matters worse, he can control that energy the way he likes. Thankfully, he doesn't have the skills yet and his energy reserve is poor. But, supposing he got to that armor and that armor would have the power that is spoken of, he would become as powerful as you are and together with the Dragon Booster he make big trouble."

"I must stop him. I must get that map."

"No need, that map is probably inaccurate. Besides, you need to have a special key to enter it."

"A key? So you know about that armor."

"Yes, it is powerful, so powerful that it can rip you apart all by itself."

That scared Moordyd.

"How? And where is the key?"

"It can rip you apart because you are bound to black draconium and that armor has to surge most of it's energy into the wearer, only one with the same power type as the armor's channeling through his heart can wear it. And the key was lost during the Dragon-human war."

"Do you think our new friend is the one?"

"Not likely, he is weak. Besides, I don't think his energy matches the armor. That means he doesn't have enough power to compete with yours."

"Good, he will be easier to get along with" Moordryd grinned, then made an evil laugh.

Back at Penn Stables.

Davit insisted that Kitt would sleep in the guestroom. He was laying on the sofa thinking.

"Well, Kitt has heard my story. She looked like she accepted my truth, a little. I think the conversation left more questions unanswered as for me, so as for Kitt. It looks like I can't handle my own truth. It even looks like I don't want to accept my own truth. At least I feel relieved now that I'm not the only one who knows how hard it is for me. I wonder how mom, dad and my friends are doing. Are they happy that they got rid of me? "

He fell asleep.

Davit woke up in a middle of some forest, it looked familiar. He began walking. Soon Davit reached a city. He could not believe his eyes, it was his home city! Filled with joy he began running towards his home. But soon he remembered what had happened to him here before and slowed down. It was quiet, very quiet. There were no cars on the streets, no pedestrians on the sidewalk, nothing. The city was empty. Davit felt alone, very alone. He sat down on the nearest bench, bowed his head down and closed his eyes. He felt cold. The coolness was coming from inside. It was loneliness. Suddenly he felt warmth from behind. Then, something rubbed it's face against his from behind. That something was big. The touch was soft and loving, it reminded Davit of his mother. Davit opened his eyes and looked what it was. The figure was blurry, but the eyes… they were very clear and blue. They looked like a dragon's eyes. Davit tried to focus but everything began to fade.

It was a dream… and nothing more.

Do you like when Davit expresses his inner world?

Yes. :cookie: As a reader, I like to see what the hero is going through. Adding things like this and some emotion makes the characters seem more real. Otherwise the story is just "things happening" and I find those less interesting.

One thing I think you'll want to bring out more is what does Davit want to achieve in this adventure. So far it's not clear to me what he wants or where he wants to get to. Does he want his old life back the way it was before his world started to go mad? Does he want to stay in Dragon City now? Does he believe he's in a nightmare (e.g., he's gone insane)? Or does he believe he was sent to Dragon City for a purpose? Basically, what does he want to achieve by the story's end.

I think it helps a lot to know what the hero's challenge is for the story, otherwise it's harder to build to a climax since the reader doesn't necessarily know when the story is over.

You can also talk more about how the canon characters are reacting to Davit and what they want out of the story.

My thoughts for what they're worth. :)

Chapter 7: the training day

"Hard at training, easy in battle."

Kitt woke up early in the morning, she felt fine because her leg didn't hurt anymore. Even though it was about 10 am and the sun was shining Kitt laid in her bed for another 10 minutes thinking about what she heard yesterday.

"Life must be real hard for Davit. If he's telling the truth that is. What if he isn't? Word sent him? How did he know everything? Yeah right, a "dream boy". I shouldn't completely trust him. I think I should pretend that I trust him and see what he does. But what if he's telling the truth? Hmm, yet again how did he get here? Why? How is it... this makes my head hurt."

Kitt frowned and got up. It was uncomfortable to walk with a plaster on her leg so she took it off. The house was quiet.

"Mr. Penn, Artha are you here?" Kitt shouted but no one answered. "Guess they're outside."

Kitt found breakfast ready for her in the kitchen. After, she went outside. Kitt saw Connor and Lance near the stable where Wyldfyr was. She slowly approached them.

"Oh, good morning, Kitt. How's your leg?" Connor asked when he saw her.

"Like nothing happened. I see Wyldfyr is feeling good too." Kitt smiled when she saw her dragon eating. "By the way, where are Artha and Davit?"

"Artha's "taking care" of the Dragon Eye crew stealing dragons and Davit's in the garden. It looks like something is bothering him. Any ideas?"

"No. I don't know, he's kinda strange."

"What makes you say that? He's a little lost that's all."

"Maybe he is." Kitt lifted her shoulders

"You know, I think he needs a dragon and some training."

"Well, we could use one more member for our racing team. And if he would prove himself we could enter the assassination contests." Kitt said thoughtfully.

"You mean those where a team of four has to run to the finish line while one of them caries a ball, and others protect him from the opponent team which tries to take the ball? Hey, but there are four of us already, why can't we go?" Lance was excited just by the name of the competition. These assassination competitions were spectacular. Not only that, the competitions were held once per season.

"Because you're too young to enter those competitions, Lance.” Connor answered.

"Why am I always too young for everything?!" Lance's mood spoiled.

"Such are the rules, Lance." Connor watched as Lance walked away in a fast pace. Lance hated that he was too young for some things.

Kitt sighed. "I'll go ask if Davit's interested." Kitt didn't trust him completely but she knew that the prizes in assassination competitions were just huge. And not just in stat points.

Meanwhile. At Paynn's citadel.

Word was talking with someone through the comm. system.

"So you say you have the second fragment of the map."

"Yes, and it has no worth for me. But that doesn't mean I will give you it for free."

"You underestimate me. Don't think I'm a cheap bastard."

"Sorry, Mr. Paynn. I think some twenty thousand drackels are not a question."

"Oh of course not. And I think you would be interested in some new gear as a bonus, if you can bring that fragment in a week that is."

"Consider the deal done. I, the leader of the Dragon Merchants guild, will deliver it personally if you want to be sure of your map's safety."

"Oh please do." Word smiled.

"The Dragon Merchants have never failed."

The link was cut off. Word crossed his fingers in his style and smiled evilly.

"Oh you can't fail me. Who will try out my new mind control gear prototype?" He laughed acknowledging how evil his plan was. "The Dragon Merchant guild is by far the largest in the world. I will use them to find me that armor and then... bye-bye dragon of legend and Penn Stables. And hello dragon-human war."

At Penn Stables. The garden.

Kitt walked up to Davit who was sitting on the ground near the fountain. He didn't notice Kitt because his eyes were closed.

"Are you sleeping?"

"What?" Davit snapped out of his meditation. "Oh, it's you Kitt. No, I wasn't sleeping. I just had to be alone with my thoughts for a moment. I see that you took off the plaster, that's good because I thought that the doctors were overdoing with the diagnosis."

"I wasn't gonna stand another day with that thing anyway. You know, Connor thinks you should get a dragon and begin training as soon as possible… I think so too."

"A dragon?" Davit said in a calm thoughtful tone.

"Yeah. That's not going to be a problem with Connor's connections. He can even find a good dragon for almost free."

"I don't need Connor's help Kitt."

"Why not? Do you know what great dragons he can find for you?"

"Listen, Kitt. I have to find my dragon on my own. Either that or the dragon has to find me."

"And why is that?" Kitt crossed her arms.

"Because I know what's best for me. Don't question me."

"Ugh! At least ask Connor to teach you to fight, I have a feeling that Paynn won't get off our backs that easily." Kitt walked away. Davit returned to his meditation.

After some time Davit was done with his meditation, he came to a decision that he has to try to forget his past and try to live a new life. After all, Confucius said that there's nothing as desperate as to repent what has already been done in the past. He decided that he needed to ask Connor to teach him some fighting techniques, that would help him to concentrate on something else than these visions and build up his spirit.

Luckily for Davit, Connor said that he would gladly teach him the same as he had thought Artha.

They started of with some basic moves and stances.

"You're doing well, Davit. Now, lets try to learn how to block attacks with a blocking-staff. Here, you can use Artha's spare, he doesn't need it anymore." Connor handed Davit the staff. "Now, if you want to block an attack you need a good reaction and try to predict how your opponent will strike if it's possible. Ok, ready? I'm going to do it slow."

"Ready when you are, Mr. Connor." Davit pushed a button on the staff and it expanded.

Connor attacked a few times, the first two Davit blocked but the third one hit him on the shoulder.

"Concentrate, free your mind of any unnecessary thoughts. Lets try again."

This time Davit succeed in blocking all attacks.

"Good, we can now move on. Try to block my hits and try to strike my staff out of my hands."

Kitt was watching all this. Davit could only block almost all of the hits from Connor, soon he got tired of it.

"I think that's enough for today. We'll carry on tomorrow. As for now you can practice your moves." Connor said and walked away.

"Gee, I thought you would do better than that." said Kitt.

"Hey I'm no hero like Artha y'know."

"Whatever. A tip for the beginner - never give up." Kitt walked away.

"Wow, great tip. But I think I know that." Davit thought to himself. "Or maybe Kitt's right. I have to push on."

Davit continued practicing his moves with an imaginary opponent for some time. Then he went for a walk, he couldn't stay at Penn stables for the rest of his life.

Later. On the streets of Dragon city.

Davit was walking. Just walking around. The streets were full of people, shops, pubs and gear dealers. All that made a colorful atmosphere. And the street music made the city not only look colorful, but to sound like that too. That reminded Davit of his city, how he used to wonder through the streets like a labyrinth where every building had its own unique story. Davit was getting homesick so he decided to go back.

Meanwhile, Kitt decided that Wyldfyr was in a good shape. She was about to leave when Lance stopped her.

"Where are you going, Kitt? Wyldfyr is still..."

"I think I know better how my dragon feels and what's good for him. Besides I think Wyldfyr wants to stretch his legs a bit." Wyldfyr nodded.

"So, where are you going?"

"Home. Where else?"

"Aren't you going to say goodbye to the others."

"You make it sound like I'm leaving for ever." Kitt smiled and put on her helmet. "Tell Artha that I'll see him in the race tomorrow."

Wyldfyr began to move. Lance waited for them to leave then he went home to play some Battleground-drag.

When Davit returned to Penn Stables and saw the empty stable he knew that Kitt decided to go home. He didn't want to know why because he already knew the answer.

But something was taking Artha too long.

Davit was sitting on the couch and Lance was playing his game in another couch.

"Lance."

"What?" Lance asked without looking away from the game.

"How long does it usually take Artha to deal with Moordryd and his crew? In the worst case."

"I don't know. An hour."

"And he's been away for almost three." Davit looked through the window then back at Lance who was still carried away by the game. "Aren't you worried about him?"

"He'll be fine."

"And what if he's... no wait, here he comes." Davit saw Beau enter his stable and Artha leading him.

Davit walked out and approached Artha.

"What took ya? I thought you can beat the Dragon Eyes faster than three hours."

"What? Oh no, I took care of them in fifteen minutes."

"And where did you spent the last two and a half hours?"

"I was interviewed!" Artha pointed his thumb at his chest. "I'm gonna be on the front page of Drac Racing magazine. Isn't that drac or what?"

"Interviewed? What for?"

"For that move at the race yesterday." Artha began daydreaming about his fame.

"And you didn't forget to mention me for telling how to do that, right?" Davit lifted his eyebrow.

"Ergh, whoops." Artha made a sorry-silly smile. "You're not mad at me? Are you?"

"No, not at all." Davit sighed and thought to himself: "That's Artha. When it comes to fame he forgets about everybody else."

"Good."

"You know, Artha. I would like you to do me a favor for that move."

"And that is..."

"Mention me next time I do something that will make you famous."

"Sure thing."

"And tell me how you learned to fight from your father. I don't quite get everything."

"Oh that's easy! Come on, I'll show you. Ergh, got a staff?"

"Your father gave me your old spare. I'll go get it."

"Fine. I'll be waiting for you here."

Some time later.

Artha and Davit were standing face to face in the yard with their weapons in their hands. And Artha... was daydreaming again. Davit swung with his blocking-stick and hit Artha's jakk-stick out of his hands.

"You said this was going to be easy but this is ridiculous!"

That focused Artha on what he promised. They've spent about an hour practicing. After, Davit came to a conclusion that Artha will never be a good teacher.

Or maybe it was Davit. Maybe he wasn't cut out for fighting. Maybe he wasn't cut out for racing. And what the hell was he doing here anyway?!

Chapter 8: the assignment

“When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get work on it.”

-W. Clement Stone

Moordryd woke up early in the morning. After having his breakfast he had plans of avenging for the humiliation yesterday. He was about to get up on Decepshun when his father called him.

"Moordryd, come here, now!" that was all Word said and broke the link.

"Oh great! Whenever I have my own plans he shows up and ruins everything." Moordyd frowned and went to see what his father wanted. Word was sitting in his chair as usual, a strange object made of black draconium laid on the table in front of him.

"You wanted to see me, Father?"

"Do you know what this is, Moordryd." Word pointed at his gear.

"Let me guess, some kind of new mind control gear." Moordryd crossed his arms.

"Very good, Moordryd. It's a prototype. But do you know what's so special about it?"

"It's the most powerful mind control gear ever created?" Moordryd rolled his eyes expecting a yes.

"No, Moordryd. It's not the most powerful."

"It can control both the dragon and its rider?" Moordryd took another shot, this was getting interesting.

"Wrong again. It can function even out of range, in stand-alone phase and it's meant for a human."

"How is that possible?"

"It's just a matter of a computer that controls it. It is completely functional now but it needs one more thing to be able to go into stand-alone phase."

"And you want me to get it."

"Yes, Moordryd. But not just get it, I want it to be here, on my table, in five days. It is pretty hard to find it since it's out of the Dragon city limits."

"It would be a lot easier if I knew what it is and where to look for it."

"Ah, yes. Here." Word handed Moordryd a map. "It's a mag-energy holding cylinder. You are going to the ruined castle, it belonged to the dragons during the Dragon-human war. Those cylinders were used as lanterns for the dragons since they glowed for a long time from the charges they received. As for humans, they created illusions that tricked their eyes. No wonder that that castle was last to fall."

"Why can't you use your draconium canisters?"

"Because they give away a charge that can harm the computer. Yet those cylinders give a very low power surge that is just what I need. Remember, five days."

Moordryd was near the door when Word said:

"Oh, Moordryd. Where are those dragons you promised me? I thought it would take you two days to track and steal them."

"That Dragon Booster is always ruining our plans."

"Or you simply fail. Get me those dragons, Moordryd. And don't disappoint me."

"What? How can I do these two things in five days?"

"It's your problem how you do it."

"Yes, Father." Moordryd frowned and left the room. When he was outside he activated a comm. link with Cain.

"Cain, remember those dragons we tried to steal yesterday?"

"Yes."

"Track them down and steal them in five days and present them to my father. And try not to get into trouble."

"Aren't you going to help?"

"No. My father has another assignment for me to do."

"But..." Cain made a cowardly face.

"Cain, get going. Now!" Moordryd broke the link and sighed.

"Moordryd." came Armeggaddon's voice. "That castle will be a perfect training for you."

"But my father said that those cylinders make illusions."

"That will be a part of your training. Besides, those cylinders create illusions for humans, not dragons. There is just one problem."

"What?"

"The walls of that castle also have a purpose. They suspend all spirits, ghosts and such as me from doing anything. You will have to rely upon your dragon for support."

"Is there any other way to get those cylinders?"

"No. Don't worry, I have taught you more than enough for that castle." Armeggaddon's voice disappeared.

Moordryd frowned and went to get ready for the journey. He had a bad feeling for Cain. That Dragon Booster would probably show up and ruin everything.

Moordryd packed his bag with some food for him and Decepshun, his mag-staff and a few mag-grenades. He thought that this journey would take longer than just a day. Moordryd didn't bother taking a flash-stick, why would he need it anyway? To scare crow-drags?

Decepshun was getting annoyed waiting in her stable when she saw Moordryd come in with a bag on his back and pushing a mag-rack with white repel gear, green ramming and red thruster. Now this was something new. She hissed.

"Yes, my father has a job for us. A pretty long one too." Moordryd mumbled.

Decepshun magged on the gear letting Moordryd know that she was ready for everything. Moordyd smiled and got onto his saddle. Decepshun began to move, Moordryd sighed and pushed his draconium controllers forward making Decepshun go faster.

Luckily Word's citadel was in Sun-city unlike the Dragon Eye compound which was in Squiers End so Moordryd only had to reach the highway leading out of the city. Even though the day was just great, Moordryd was in a bad mood. Maybe because his father gave that stupid assignment, maybe because he couldn't avenge for yesterday, maybe he just had a bad mood.

Moordryd pushed his controllers forward and Decepshun began going over the speed limit. It was just about a mile to the end of Dragon city when a Dragon city security officer with the sirens on and his dragon catching up popped out from behind.

"Oh great! Just what I needed, a ticket. Well, that's not gonna happen." Moordryd pushed a red button on his controller and activated the red thruster gear. That helped a little because another cop dragon joined the chase that was now going out of Dragon city bounds. Moordryd urged Decepshun to go faster and the distance began to increase.

The usual Dragon city road changed to a sandy concrete road in a middle of desert-like plains. Moordryd took a look at the map, it told that he was heading north from Dragon city and his destination was to the East. Moordryd pointed Decepshun into that direction and out of the road.

The Dragon city security officers stopped their dragons and watched the black and lavender purple dragon run away into the desert.

"Why did we stop?" asked the fist one.

"First of all, we are way over our jurisdiction area. Secondly it will be almost impossible to catch him in the Desert plains and if you're looking for a place to get lost then you can't think of a better place than this." replied the other one. "Lets go."

The officers rode off back to Dragon city.

"I think we lost them." Moordryd said easing of the controllers. "Oh great!" he saw Decepshun's draconium energy readings were down by half. "Stupid Dragon city security!"

Decepshun growled.

"Yeah, I guess you're right, we won't make it today. And I don't think you fancy resting in a middle of a desert."

Moordryd drew the map his father gave him and took a look. The straight way to the castle led through rocky plains and cliffs, there was a town to the North-East of his location. The town was based on a bank of some river and the river itself winded through the Desert plains to Dragon city it was like an oasis - everything near it was green.

Decepshun hissed and shook her head. She was a black dragon and that doubled the heat from the sun. She was probably thirsty. The heat was getting unbearable as the sun got higher and higher over the horizon.

Moordryd didn't fancy baking in the desert so he urged Decepshun towards the town. "Come on, there's a town not too far away from here. It will take longer but at least we won't fry here."

Decepshun hissed in agreement and sped off towards the town.

Meanwhile. At the racing circuit.

Almost all dragons were in line at the finish line. Artha was getting ready for the race when he noticed a red bipedal dragon approach the start gate by his left.

"Kitt? What are you doing here?" Artha was happy that he won't race alone.

"What does it look like? I'm going to race. Didn't Lance tell you?"

"Well, yeah. But I didn't expect to actually see you."

"I'm not gonna let you win three times in a row." Kitt smiled. "You know, there's something strange about this race."

"Like what? Everything seems fine to me."

"Like Moordryd's absence. It's not like him to miss a chance to win a race from you."

"Well, yeah. Maybe he finally acknowledged that I'm a best racer ever and decided to give up." Artha grinned.

"Yeah right." Kitt rolled her eyes. "Listen, stable boy, this race is mine."

"Oh we'll see about that." Artha smiled and got ready.

Artha's vid-link activated and Parm was in the screen.

"Have you noticed that Moordryd's not in this race?"

"Yeah, Parm, we did." Artha sighed.

"I have a bad feeling about this."

"You always have a bad feeling about almost everything, Parm. Relax, let's just enjoy a clean race without any Paynn, ok?"

"Well I guess this is a rare chance." Parm lifted his shoulders.

"By the way, where's Davit?"

"Your father is teaching him to fight."

"So he did follow my advice." Kitt interrupted.

"What advice? You mean I'm a bad… whoa!" the race had begun and Artha was caught off guard, luckily, not Beau.

Chapter 9: Moordryd's journey part 1

“There is nothing as useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.”

-Peter F. Drucker

"Finally, water!" Moordryd was happy to finally reach the river near the town. The sandy landscape changed to grassy.

"Have a drink." Moordryd got off his dragon and went closer to the water with Decepshun.

Decepshun was happy to see water, she began drinking. It was cool, just what she wanted. Moordryd crouched in front of the water, took off his helmet, got some water into his hands and spilled over his face and head.

"Phew. What a relief. Lets go find a shade, I'm tired." Moordryd looked at Decepshun and found her taking a dip in the water. Decepshun took a look at him and hissed saying " You? I'm the one who's tired! " in draconian then she concentrated her mag-stream on Moordryd and started pulling him into the water.

"No. Decepshun, wait! Aah!" Moordryd fell into the water. "Cold!"

Decepshun quietly chuckled at Moordryd who was now looking at her with an angry look. Soon Moordryd smiled slightly and stroked the forehead of his dragon.

"I mean you're tired. Lets go." Moordryd stood up and went to look for bigger trees because the ones near the river were too small to make a decent shadow for him and Decepshun, which was now following him.

Pretty soon they found a few big trees on a small hill.

Decepshun laid down and pointed her snout at Moordryd's bag.

"Hungry, girl?" Moordryd began digging in his back for dragon treats and draconee-yum bars. "Here you go."

Decepshun ate a few treats before she laid her head down for a rest. Moordryd finished his candy bars and gazed at the sight before him.

The sight was spectacular: green trees everywhere, a river winding through the landscape, a barren rocky plains to the east and a town situated right in front of the hill where Moordryd was sitting. The breeze and the birds hummed a silent calming melody. A sight you'll never see in Dragon city.

"This is beginning to look like a vacation." Moordryd thought to himself and leaned at Decepshun. She didn't mind that, soon Moordryd fell asleep.

Meanwhile. On the way to Penn Stables.

Artha, Kitt, Parm and Lance were riding their dragons back to Penn Stables.

"Told you, stable boy. This race was mine." Kitt smiled.

"Oh, how am I going to be the dracest racer when I lose to you?" Artha wined.

"Don't worry, Artha, you can always be dracest looser. You're doing great!" Lance joked. Everybody except Artha chuckled at this.

"Ha ha ha, very funny, Lance." Artha frowned.

"I'm going home. See ya guys later." Kitt said goodbye and turned.

As Wyldfyr stopped at the first intersection Kitt noticed Davit. He was sitting at an outside table in a cafe drinking something and reading a newspaper.

"Well, at least he will get in touch reality." Kitt thought to herself. "Hold on! If he's not from our world then how come he's reading our newspapers?"

Kitt urged Wyldfyr to stop near the cafe.

"Oh hi, Kitt. How was the race today?" Davit noticed her.

"Not bad, I won." Kitt got of Wyldfyr and took a seat in front of Davit.

"Want something to drink?"

"Erm, no. I wanted to ask you a few questions."

"Go ahead." Davit put down his newspaper.

"You told me that you were not from this world. Right?"

"Yes."

"Then how come you're reading a newspaper?"

"I have to learn to read somehow." Davit replied calmly, this wasn't what Kitt expected. "It's nothing hard really, after you get the hang of it. But I've noticed one thing that is on the weird side."

"Oh yeah? What's that?"

"It was easy, too easy to learn your characters. First it was awkward but now normal. As if they were native to me. Or, maybe it's because I'm good at learning."

"And that's the weird part? What does the newspaper say anyway?"

Davit picked up the newspaper and began reading: "Weather forecast: today - hot, tomorrow - cloudy, bla bla bla." He opened the second page. "Nothing interesting really. Dragon city security reports dragon thefts, bla bla bla. Artha Penn - the daredevil. Bla bla bla..."

"Let me see that." Kitt grabbed the newspaper from Davit and began reading. "Artha always wants a way to get his face in the news." Kitt got a little angry seeing Artha in the newspaper, or maybe jealous.

"You can say that again." Davit took a sip of his tea. A headline on the last page of the newspaper caught his eye. "Gear sales stopped in ten cities." he read it loud.

"What?"

"Take a look at the headline on the last page."

Kitt turned over the newspaper and began reading.

"Well, what does it say?"

"In ten cities including Dragon city reports of unsafe fake gear have been noticed. The gear has been constructed in non-factory conditions and as a result, such gear is tend to malfunction with unpredictable consequences. The forgers copied the design of original gear and found a way to get them into legal trade lines. All racers are asked to reconsider using new gear and gear dealers are advised to cooperate with the inspection teams by halting the sales. Operatives state that possible whereabouts of the forgers are known and actions will be taken shortly. Experts say that fake gear will be out of the shops by the end of the week."

"Bummer." Davit finished his tea.

"This means that there will be races without gear."

"Or no races at all. Hope you didn't buy new gear though."

"No but Artha did."

"I guess I should go tell him the news." Davit stood up. "Things are getting weirder and weirder."

"Speaking of weird. Moordryd didn't show up in the race today. Maybe he's behind this."

"He didn't? That's not like him. He or Word is up to something. But it's not Moordryd who's doing this."

"What makes you say that? He didn't show up at the race today, that's one. Two, he's the bad guy. Three..."

"And what's the point of making fake gear when your father is the head of Paynn incorporated?"

"You have a point there." Kitt sighed and stood up. "Here, make sure Artha sees the problem and not his face in the news first." Kitt handed Davit his newspaper and got onto Wyldfyr. "See ya later."

"Bye." Davit watched Kitt ride off and turned towards Penn Stables.

As Kitt was riding Wyldfyr she thought:

"Now what was I doing? Going home, then I saw Davit. Scales! I forgot to crack him! Well, it's too late now. But considering how he's been acting, maybe I misjudge something."

Meanwhile. Under the trees where Moordryd fell asleep.

Moordryd was awaken by Decepshun's growling and sound of childish giggling.

"What?"

"Hey mister! Why are you sleeping?" a girl in a white dress ran around Decepshun in circles.

"Because I'm tired." Moordryd frowned.

"That's silly. Lets be friends! What's your name? Why is your hair white? What's in the bag?" the child stopped running and took Moordryd's mag-staff. "Ooh, what's this? What's the name of your dragon? Are you going to play with me?" it sounded like the girl won't stop.

"Hey give me that!" Moordryd stood up and grabbed his mag-staff. "Let go."

"No!" the kid shook her head but Moordryd pushed her making her trip and took the staff from her. "Hey!"

"Listen, kid, get lost!"

"I'm telling mom and dad! You're mean!" the girl ran away crying.

"Yeah, I know." Moordryd grinned. "You had enough rest, girl?"

Decepshun stood up and magged Moordryd onto his seat. He put on his helmet and checked the map.

"Right, lets get going."

Decepshun began moving towards the town. Soon, two storey buildings surrounded Moordryd. Sounds of children playing were coming from everywhere. In a matter of seconds the street which Moordryd was traveling through was filled with children staring at him. Some of them began running after Decepshun so he urged her to go faster. He didn't like such attention.

Finally, the bridge to the other side of the river was in front of him. Moordryd was about to cross it when a red quadruped dragon stood in his way, Decepshun stopped lifting a dust cloud.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Moordryd was angered.

"You should know better than to be mean to my daughter." A solid-aged man with long brown hair and beard riding a dark-red dragon that stopped Moordryd spoke. "Do you know who I am?"

"And do you know who I am, old man? Get out of my way!"

"Watch your tone, boy!"

"Listen, I have no time for this nonsense. Get out of the way before you get hurt!"

"I won't let you pass this bridge!"

"Have it your way." Moordryd smiled and drew his energy draining whip which he always carried in his jacket. The man drew his blocking staff. Moordryd swung and caught the man's dragon then pulled making him fall.

Decepshun jumped over the dragon and ran away. Soon Moordryd was out of the town and going through rocky plains.

Chapter 10: Moordryd's journey part 2

“It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.”

- Confucius

The town was now far behind and a Decepshun was galoping towards the castle. The plains had changed to rocks, cliffs and boulders so Moordryd had to make decisions fast. Suddenly, he noticed that he was heading straight for a cliff and no land could be seen behind it. Moordryd slowed Decepshun down and approached the side of that cliff slowly. The sight that opened before him left Moordryd speechless.

It was a canyon, a big canyon that looked like a bottom of a sea that has dried out. There was a lot of rubble, the atmosphere was like the battles took place just yesterday. Full of skeletons, full of rusty armors... full of death. In the middle of it all were ruins of a huge castle, definitely built by non-humans.

Moordryd looked down, the cliff wasn't high but steep, no places to rest.

"Come on girl." Moordryd sighed, turned Decepshun around and fired the repel gear at the ground before him. "This is gonna be a one long climb."

Moordryd tightened his grip on the controllers as Decepshun begun to slowly climb down backwards. It would be an awfully long fall if Moordryd fell out of his saddle.

Meanwhile. At Penn Stables.

Davit was now back. Artha was helping his father repairing a door of the stable right to Beau's.

"Oh, hello, Davit." Connor noticed Davit.

"Hello, Mr. Penn. Artha, Kitt told me you bought some new gear."

"Yeah, so?"

"It might be fake and dangerous."

"Why?" Artha didn't get it.

"Because it's said in the newspaper." Davit lifted his newspaper and pointed at the last page.

"Let me see that, Davit." Connor took the newspaper and begun reading. "You should get rid of that gear, Artha. It might be a dangerous fake."

"Really? But that's my new level 3 Red speed burst! I bought in the shop." Artha tried to argue with his father. "Ok. Lets go see Parmon. He's the one in charge of the gear."

Davit and Artha approached the shed where Parmon was doing something with his calculator.

"Parm, remember that new gear I bought?"

"Yes, Artha. And you know what? It's dangerous. My calculations show that there are some serious errors in gears control schemes. It seems that there is high possibility of red draconium covering erosion during use causing accumulation of draconium energy..."

"Parm." Artha tried to stop Parmon's blabbing.

"...in the rear part of the gear. Such accumulation..."

"Parm."

"...can cause sudden release of huge amounts of energy or even worse." Parmon made a scared face. "Do you know what that means, Artha?"

Artha looked at Parmon like a madman.

"I think the first part was about that the gear was a fake." Davit translated.

"Exactly!"

"And the second... Ugh, Parm, speak in sentences next time. He meant that the gear can explode or even worse."

"It's good that I haven't used it yet." Artha was relieved. "Where did you put the gear, Parm?"

"Oh, right here, in the storage room where I put it." Parm went to a door where the storage room was.

"Alright. Let's get rid of that gear before something bad happens." Artha pushed a button near the door and it opened.

As soon as that happened Artha's eyes grew big. Davit came closer and took a look. He saw two mag-racks with identical red thrusting gear.

"So, which one?" Artha asked.

"The left one." Parm pointed at the left mag-rack. "I think."

"You... Think?! Parm!"

"No it's the right one... Or maybe the left one. Oh dear!" Parmon got chicken.

"Parm." Artha spoke calmly looking at the gear. "Do you realize I've got a mandatory race tomorrow?! If I don't get those points then I will have to drop one level to stay in the races." Artha's eyes were burning in anger and were now looking at Parmon.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Artha?" Parm took a step backward. Artha stretched his arms in desire to get them on Parm. It was his luck that Davit grabbed Artha's hand.

"I think you should run away now, Parm." Davit said trying to calm Artha down. Parm did just that and got onto Cyrano.

"Well, I have to run. See you in the race tomorrow." Parm said before running away as Artha was now growling at him.

"Artha, calm down!" Davit said as Artha has freed his hand.

"Calm down?!" Artha said histerically. "How am I supposed to win without that gear?!"

"You are better than this. You don't need any gear."

"Oh sure, I don't need gear to drop one level. And you know what? I think you're here to spoil my whole career!" Artha yelled as he walked away to the house.

"Artha! Listen!" Davit tried stopping Artha.

"Let him go. He needs to calm down." Connor was now near Davit closing the door. "Do you mind helping me with the doors?"

"Oh of course not." Davit took a look at the house before going to assist Connor.

When they were done with the stable doors Connor began a conversation.

"You know, Davit, I'm going to give you this stable for your dragon. Besides, what type of dragons do you like?"

"I don't know, Mr. Penn. I doubt that I and dragons are meant to be." There was a short pause. "Are you saying that you're going to find me a dragon?"

Connor nodded.

"Well, I don't know if I want one. I don't know if I need one." Davit looked away.

"Listen, Davit. You can't give up everything just because of what you've experienced. I know that the loss of your parents and friends is hard."

"How did you... Oh, you heard it when I told it to Kitt, haven't you?"

"Yes, Davit, I did overhear that conversation. You see, you can't tell what you are and what you're not meant for before you try it. You have to push on." Connor put his arm on Davit's shoulder.

There was a pause for a moment. Then Davit said:

"I thank you for your care and hospitality, Mr. Penn. " Davit was silent for a moment.

"I haven't told you this, Davit. But I see great potential in you. You probably have a natural for agility." Connor broke the silence.

"What makes you say that? I failed to strike the staff out of your hands on the first day."

"Nothing can be done perfect the first time. Your moves were swift and precise. You haven't noticed that, haven't you? I'm sure you'll be doing great after a few days."

"Well, if you put it that way, I think I can carry on."

"That's the spirit!"

"But about my dragon... I don't know if I want your help, I want to find it myself."

"You know, lots of great people I know have found their dragons on their own." That cheered Davit up. Connor smiled and begun to walk away. "Artha should've calmed down by now, I'll go talk to him."

" Mr. Penn. " Davit stopped him. "Is... the map safe?"

"Word will never find it."

Connor walked away but Davit stayed in the stable for some time. He was looking at the wall and thinking something.

Meanwhile.

Moordryd was relieved when Decepshun's legs have finally reached solid land, he looked up. The cliff looked bigger from below. Moordryd pushed a button on his controller and the repel gear retracted. Then he looked around. The ground seemed dark, it was a shadow of the cliffs. Even though sky was bright the sun begun to set, it already was at such angle that the cliff dropped a shadow on half of the canyon.

Moordryd urged Decepshun forward and begun looking for a cave or something like that to rest in. Soon he found a cave, it was the last hill on the way to the castle. The cave looked safe and was not too deep, Moordryd got of Decepshun, which laid down near the wall in the end of the cave. Moordryd sat down near her and looked out of the cave. It was dark already, the cave was right in front of the castle. The ruins disappeared in the darkness and now the castle appeared in all its might. It looked like a shadow of what the castle looked like three thousand years ago.

It was quiet, awfully quiet... and dark, so dark that nothing could be seen even a step away... but the castle's towers could be clearly seen.

Moordryd sighed. Decepshun had already fallen asleep so Moordryd decided to do the same and leaned at her. He wanted to think about what's waiting for him but fell asleep instantly.
