Description: So Sad

Khatah - July 6, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
My Dog Jewel is going to the pound. See we used to live in a house that was surrounded by bush and she could go completly nuts and nobody would complain and then we had to move so she had to go to a friends house. my mum and dad split up and she lived my dad and now my dads living with a friend and jewel is in a place were she cant bark all day but thats like her favourite habit. So jewel is going to the pound because she barks all day and the neighbours complained plus she is also unreigestered so we got a fine for that. And now there nowhere she can go so shes going to the pound it going to be sad to see her go :( its more sad because we have had her since she was only two weeks old.

Here is some pics of her

It is possible to train a dog not to bark, but it can be hard. It's worth it, though.
We had to put our first dog down recently. He was old and sick and starting to have seizures and he couldn't walk at all. He also wouldn't go to sleep.

Well our dog has to be gone by friday (tommorrow) so i dont think she could get taugh that fast.

Penny Dreadful - July 6, 2006 04:53 AM (GMT)
If training won't work, there's an operation that will keep her from barking. They cut the vocal chords slightly. Some say it's inhumane, but it really doesn't hurt the dog and it does heal. They're generally less "vocal" after it heals, now that they've been unable to bark for so long. I wouldn't suggest this normally, but if it's between that and your dog going to the pound, I think you would both prefer she just get that done.

Thats a good idea but i dont think we have the money for the operation (thats if it costs anything

It couldn't hurt to call your local vet and those in surrounding areas. Ask around about the price and even if they have any sort of payment plans. I'm a pet lover myself. I've lost two cats (both hit by cars) and one dog. The dog was given away by my father (who I haven't seen in yeeeears)'s evil girlfriend. When I found her, she had been renamed and had had puppies. They wouldn't part with her of course, but gave me a puppy for free ^-^...which is saying something...purebred, Applehead Chihuahua.

We moved from the bush to a city and had to give our birds to our aunt for the same reason (they were too noisy). After we did our next door neighbours asked what had happened to them. Apparently they used to like talking to them over the fence. We probably could have kept them but I think they're happier at my aunt's. She doesn't take them out or anything but they are in a large cage with other birds.

I'm sure that the pound will find a good owner for your dog. She's very cute so I don't think she'll be there for long.

You could try to find a new home yourself. Advertise a dog to give away in the paper or something and make sure she goes to someone who's in an area where her barking won't matter, or who is willing to train her not to bark.

I know how you feel! My friend and I took care of a dog while he was still living on a property out in the bush. She was a beautiful inland dingo pup who was hyperactive and noisy. Being a wild dog, she saw me and my friend as pack mates more than owners. One night, a truely stupid man broke into my friends home, and beat my friend while trying to get away. Toboe attacked him to protect her pack and the council ordered she be put down. :( :( :(

Sparx - July 10, 2006 09:24 AM (GMT)
That was so mean of them! As far as I'm concerned, anyone who breaks into someone else's house should wear the consequences no matter what those consequences are. It's so unfair to put a dog down for protecting their owner.

Shearkin - July 10, 2006 07:32 PM (GMT)
that is so sad :( I dont think the dog should have been put down for that reason it should have been given a meadle :cookie: or some thing not the death sentance.

That's great! Our dog was in the pound for months when we got him. He went crazy in the yard at home, because he wasn't used to being able to run around in such a big area!

Shearkin - July 27, 2006 04:32 PM (GMT)
aww that's great !!!! at this moment we are trying out a dog his name is Pete he's a collie and lab mix he has long black hair he was in a kennel for 2 month's his owner's were having a baby and they were afraid that the dog might knock the baby over so they gave him to this kennel for them to find him a home .. I really want him but ... I have 2 little sister's one (she's 4 going on 5) he doesnt mind her but my Little's sister (she's 2) he doesnt like her well I wouldn't blame him with other dog whiley ( that's another reason that we might not take him 2 big dog's in the house ) he let's her climb all over him play with his teeth pull his hair ( he's a really good dog with kid's!!!) and Pete well he's not really for all that so we might not be able to keep him :'( I really like him !!!!!! but it's up to the parent's!!!
