Last year a couple weeks before Halloween I found this awesome Dragon Mask Online.

I got it, sadly it was delayed because lack of supply. When it did arrived i was stunned by the detail put into it, but then anything by "Mario Chiodo" is Awesome. If any one is looking to get a dragon mask i would reccomend this one. But it does run about 57.00 USD, its worth the price though.

That is a pretty cool mask!

Reminds me of a Halloween party at work a few years back. The company I was with at the time encouraged people to come to work in costume on Halloween, and one of the hardware engineers came in a homemade dragon costume that actually breathed fire! He put one of those little handheld butane torches in the snout wired to trigger. It could put out a short little burst of flame. It was pretty cool. :D Good thing the fire marshall wasn't there for an inspection that day...

Speaking of Halloween, have you ever been to a Halloween event at one of the big amusement parks? Last year I went to the Halloween event at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park and it was pretty cool. It's said to be the most elaborate event of this type anywhere. Very elaborate walk-thru haunted houses, and there were 12 entirely different ones! Most of them were very intense. There were performers in elaborate costumes and lots of stuff going on. You could even see a live human sacrifice. Very elaborate movie magic level effects.

In addition to the haunted houses, they also have Scare Zones where actors in costume will lie in wait and jump out to scare you or perhaps even chase you with a chain saw!

Some stuff was creepy and some stuff was in the twisted and sick category. The idea is to make you feel like you're in actual horror movie.

Target age group of the event was 18-25 year olds. No one under 12 is allowed in (with good reason).

There are some photos here, here and here.

They run this every year with new haunted houses. So if you happen to be in Orlando during October and are into this kind of stuff, I highly recommend it.

Wow that mask is extremely detailed. It looks like it could have come from a movie set! Furox I checked out that site you have a link to and the pictures were really neat. I never knew that place existed!

Yeah, Islands of Adventure is pretty cool theme park, even when they're not doing the Halloween event. Halloween events have been becoming more and more popular. A lot of amusement parks have some sort of event now, though Universal's is the most spectacular one I know of.

The mask is so nice i don't dare wear it, in the fear of i might ruin it. I have it on my desk's hutch on a foam head on display. :D

Well then, you need to get two: one to keep nice for display and one to wear. :D

That is a lovely mask!!!! I might have to buy me one sometime, but for now the best I can do is make my own. Yeah here it is, nowhere hear as detailed as the one you have there, but I'm still learning how to make them.

Your homemade mask looks really good! That must have taken you a long time to make DargonXKS. You can tell that you worked really hard on it. The different pictures of the mask are great because you can see it from different views.

I think I'm gonna make a new mask if I ever do a full costume. =P Though how to make a pair of dragon wings that are easy to wear and able to move would be an interesting challenge.
Actually right now I'm sitting under that mask as it currently hangs on my wall. It's kind creepy sometimes, looks a little like a mounted animal head. ^_^

WOW! That mask is great DargonXKS. It kinda reminds me of the Tyrannosaurus-Rex in Jurassic park for some reason. That red mask is amazing. I can see the detail very well in it.

Well, let's see. I'm not much on the artistic end, but I can give you some ideas for the mechanical end of things. If you want to make a big pair of wings, you'll need a way to securely fasten them to the wearer's body. I suggest finding an old back-pack at a garage sale; the kind meant for camping that has a metal frame and a strap that goes around the waist. Cut off the back-pack itself to leave just the frame, shoulder and waist straps. That will give you a nice secure frame on which to mount the wings.

If the wings will be light, like just fabric draped over a framework, then you might try using PVC piping for the skeleton. It's light weight and easy to work with. You can get joints and T fittings at various angles and it's easy to cement them together. The downside of PVC though is that it won't be able to hold much weight, so if you were planning on more substantial wings beyond just fabric then you'll probably need to go with metal rods.

If you want the wings to move, you can mount them to the back-pack frame with hinges. Putting a spring between the two wings will keep them together normally. A cord and a couple of small pulleys would let the wearer "flap" the wings by pulling the cord which would separate the wings, with the spring returning them to the center position when you let go of the cord. The back-pack frame should provide a stable enough base for this type of motion.

I hope you decide the make the whole costume someday. That could be cool. ;)
