Title: Db Dvd Volume 2

Sparx - June 5, 2006 09:15 AM (GMT)
This site says it will be released on the 6th of July in Australia. Good to see they're going to continue releasing the dvds here. Roadshow's site has nothing about it though.

It'll probably have 4 episodes, same as the last one.

SilverDragon - June 5, 2006 10:09 AM (GMT)
Yahzaa! :D

Roadshow probably haven't got around to adding it to their site.

Hunter - June 5, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
Drac. I can't even find the 1st one. :P

The Furox - June 5, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
That's certainly good news. With volume 1, the release in Australia was about three months ahead of North America. If that holds, we will hopefully see it here around October.

Sparx - June 5, 2006 10:42 PM (GMT)
And hopefully it's widescreen again. Although it'll probably not have any extras :(

Airshadow - June 6, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
:( but not in spanish!!!! :( :( :(

Sparx - June 6, 2006 06:45 AM (GMT)
No, sorry. I don't even think the last dvd had subtitles! Talk about stingy.

Mari - June 6, 2006 02:42 PM (GMT)
Gaah, oh well. It'd be nice if they had it in French; I'm studing French so I can visit some cousins in France and watching a show I have memorized in French would be helpful....

silverwing - June 6, 2006 06:11 PM (GMT)
It would be nice if it had the rest of the first season or they started to come out with DVD's for all the seasons so far. Oh while it is nice that they even have them on DVD.

DragonBooster500 - June 6, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
They haven't released the first one in the US yet....waaah! I really want DB on dvd!

Also I found out that DragonBooster is a part of Comcast's On Demand program in Canada! I wish it was on demand here in michigan....scales.

vysox - June 7, 2006 11:46 PM (GMT)
how many episodes will be on the second dvd?

Sparx - June 7, 2006 11:53 PM (GMT)
Probably 4 as that's what the first dvd had. If they go in order this dvd should have on it:

Fanning the Flames
The Stand
The Horn of Libris
All is Not Lost

And we have a cover!

user posted image

I'd say 'Fanning the Flames' is definitely on there :D

shouldn't the track of doom be in this dvd?

Sparx - June 7, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
Going by Furox's guide that episode is number 10 so it probably won't be.

Actually, they have. It's been out since February. You have to go online to get it since I doubt any brick and mortar store would stock it. One good place to get it is deepdiscountdvd.com.

And yeah, I really wish they'd put out a single box set for each season instead dribbling the episodes out four at a time. Though I can't complain about the pricing: it works out to just $2.50 per episode here which I think is very reasonable.

ShadowCat - June 8, 2006 02:59 AM (GMT)
They might release a box set after they release all the DVDs.

IbanezJFS - June 8, 2006 08:14 PM (GMT)
Maybe 1 of us should try contacting Nerd Corps and, try to get some info. Because, Story hat just seems to ignore every fan letter they get. I even sent them a letter through snail mail 3 weaks ago and, I aint heard anything back. Ill try contacting Nerd Corps again but, they stoped returning my e-mails.

Pursoot - June 10, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
I wonder if they can get the dvd volume closer, Well maybe in america or canda at least!

Destiny - June 14, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
the thing about dragon booster stuff is that items are scattered in U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, and Australia! Why can't they put all copies of ALL the items in each country?! Thats it I gonna get them! *plots evil plan* :plot:

silverwing - June 14, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
It would be nice if they did a box set. As long as they had it in the stores the popularity of DB would probaly skyrocket. They would probaly sell more to as they would be easier to get. :poof:

hana&rayne122 - June 17, 2006 11:24 PM (GMT)
yea, i agree, box sets would be nice, but im gonna get the first one soon!!

Rhian - June 20, 2006 04:20 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know when the DVD's will be out in Canada?

The first (and thus far only) DVD with the first four episodes has been out since February. You'll most likely have to go online to buy it. They stock it here at amazon.ca among other online sellers in Canada.

Sparx - June 27, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
If you're going to buy either of the DVDs I suggest you do it now! There's a discount of $5 from July 6th to July 31st which makes the general price $14.95.

Online sites that have Dragon Booster DVDs for sale:

Ezydvd
Sanity - only has Volume 2
FBO Entertainment

These are Australian sites so all prices are in Australian dollars. The only site I can vouch for is Ezydvd. I've ordered a few dvds from them and never had any problems.

The Furox - July 1, 2006 07:52 AM (GMT)
I just saw that a second Dragon Booster DVD has been announced in Canada. It's listed as "DRAGON BOOSTER GRIP OF THE DRAGON" and the street date is August 1, 2006. At the moment, it appears to only be available for pre-order through several of the Canadian online retailers like deepdiscountdvd.ca. So far, I haven't found a single US retailer with a listing for this DVD. Not sure why that is since the US and Canada are generally considered to be the same market as far DVD releases go.

I haven't seen anything that says what's actually on the DVD yet. The first DVD that came out here has a brief mention of the second DVD in the series which was to be called "The Down City Crews". So I don't know where the title "Grip of the Dragon" came from (for a DVD title that is; it is of course, the name of Phistus' crew).

I'll post more if I find out anything.

Sparx - July 10, 2006 04:21 AM (GMT)
Just got it today. It's got Fanning the Flames, The Stand, The Horn of Libris and Three Times a Hero on it and it's in widescreen. The only extras on the disc are subtitles.

We don't even have DVD 1 in Mexico, and DVD 2 is out!!!!

It's just not fair!!

NO FAIR!!!!

SilverDragon - July 12, 2006 06:31 AM (GMT)
I agree. NO FAIR!!!!!!! Let all our fans get the DVDs!!!!

Incidentally, I got the second DVD today from the ABC shop in the Queen Vic Building in Sydney (Are you allowed to use 'in' that many times in a row?). I've yet to watch it (I'm saving it for 5 PM, when all the TV shows then are utter rubbish), but I'm glad for some more DB eps-I've watched the first DVD so many times I practically know the dialogue of 'The Choosing Pt 2' and 'Into the Fire' off by heart.

I'm confused. According to Furox's episode list, 'All is Not Lost' comes before 'Three Times a Hero'. So, why isn't 'All is not Lost' on the DVD?

So, presuming that Furox made an error, the next DVDs should have:

Vol. 3
All Is Not Lost
The Lost Track of Doom
Pride of the Hero
Misjudged

Vol. 4
The Chromatic Dragon
If It Ain't Broke
Rules of Power
Broken Bonds

Vol. 5
Faster than Fear
Leap of Lorius
The Wraith Booster
Artha the Drac

Vol. 6
Prophets Motive
Still Waters Freeze
The Mechanist
Darkness Falls

Vol. 7
The Return of Drakkus 1
The Return of Drakkus 2

...and that is where we run out of episodes currently aired in Australia. Hopefully by then they'll have ordered in the latest, so:

Vol. 7
The Return of Drakkus 1
The Return of Drakkus 2
Paynn Rising
The Changelings

Vol. 8
Framed
The Eye of the Dragon
No Paynn, No Gain
Opposites Attract

And then we run out of episodes that are known to exist.

For reasons that probably few people know, they aired those two episodes in a different order in the US. If you're looking at the table on Beau's Chronicles, then the one at the top has the US airdates while the table below has the airdates for Canada, Australia and Mexico. You'll see that the dates show a different order for those two. Very strange.

As far as which is the official order, I have no idea.

---------------- UPDATE: August 6th ---------------------

I just received the "Grip of the Dragon" DVD I ordered from Canada. As I expected, it contains the next group of episodes from season 1. The best part is this: it's in Widescreen!! I finally get to watch the episodes the way they were made! This DVD is being released through the Sony Wonder label, plus the Canadian market seems to be accepting widescreen more than the US market for animation, which is all good news to me. The episodes are so much nicer in widescreen. You can tell the shots are composed to look their best in widescreen. When the episodes air on TV here, it always looks like the camera is too close.

This DVD contains five episodes this time:

Fanning the Flames
The Stand
The Horn of Libris
Three Times a Hero
All is Not Lost

"Fanning the Flames" and "Horn of Libris" are two of my favorite season 1 episodes, and now I get to watch the Furox and Libris in all their glory in widescreen (and Libris really needs to be widescreen).

Unlike the previous DVD that was released through FUNimation, there is no bonus material on this DVD. It's just the five episodes, though since this DVD is being released in Canada, it of course contains both English and French soundtracks. I listened to the French for a bit and the different voices always seem a little strange, but it was kind of fun. :)

I did some more checking and I found that Sony Wonder also has another DB DVD called "Release the Dragon". This no doubt contains the first four episodes, and I'm betting they're in widescreen as well. I'm going to order it now and see since I really want the episodes in widescreen.

It seems strange that they're only releasing these in Canada since they usually consider all of North America to be one market as far as DVD releases go. But as long as I'm now able to get the show in widescreen on DVD, I'm not going to complain. Luckily, the US and Canada use the same TV standard and it's easy to order from Canada as well. I'm just glad I stumbled across these DVDs since none of the US retailers have any information on them.

I'll post a follow-up when I get the other one that should contain the first four episodes in widescreen. If anyone else wants to order these, you can get them through www.amazon.ca

Update August 14: I got my copy of Volume 1 from Canada but it's not in widescreen. Disappointing. The Canadian version looks to be identical to the US release with the addition of a French soundtrack. So only Volume 2 is in widescreen at present.

I got the first Volume in Canada at Walmart and it was in WideScreen under Sony Wonder who also released alot of the first Beyblade Season(Though it'd would go to Pioneer/Geneon and then latter FUNimation for Season 3).

I also got a copy. I was a little dissapointed that there were no special features but, all an all. Its still really great to have for your collection cuz...Who knows when its going to be released here in the states. I really like the fact it has 5 episodes instead of 4. I Would recomed everyone here getting a copy. It also shows our support for the show.

Got my copy at wallyworld(Walmart) on Saturday. Very pleased to see it released widescreen, hope they re-release volume 1 in widescreen as I`d buy a second copy just for that.

The Furox - August 15, 2006 01:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I wish Sony Wonder had made Volume 1 widescreen as well. They did such a nice job on Volume 2 (even though it did lack bonus material). I ordered a copy of Volume 1 from Canada just to see if it was widescreen or not, and as you say it wasn't. Kind of disappointing. We'll have to hope for a re-release some day. I'd definitely buy it again if they did.

The Canadian release looks the same with addition of French written in small print under the English. I don't have an image for the cover art for Volume 2 yet, but I'll be scanning it and posting it in "Lance's Room" on dragon-city.org within the next few days. Watch for it to appear there soon.
