I watched the new one, but with that other doctor before he "regenerated" again, it's preety good

Mari - April 22, 2006 04:10 AM (GMT)
I've seen every wp they've bothered to air in the US. Maaaan, Canada and the BBC have ALL the cool stuff... Dragon Booster, Dr. Who......

I just recently started watching the new Doctor Who episodes myself. They're showing the ones with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor at the moment. I've only seen three episodes so far, but they're quite good and I'm enjoying them. I think they did a good job updating the show. The stories are a bit edgier and faster paced, yet they kept the right amount of campiness and of course the Doctor's wry wit, which naturally makes the series what it is. It's all good.

Question for the people who have seen more of the episodes: do they do many multi-part episodes? The three I've seen were all single part ones. Not that that's bad. In fact, the one negative about some of the older stories was that they sometimes dragged the story out way longer than the story warranted. I was just wondering if all the new ones were single part episodes or not.

Fun series in any event. :)

Rachel C - April 22, 2006 11:06 AM (GMT)
There is one episode with two parts, they go back to World War, two i think it is, and it's a very scary but very good show.

Shrinia - April 22, 2006 01:14 PM (GMT)
doctor who is so good i saw the one when they where at "new earth" and the doctor kept saying shop it was random. But it was cool can't wait for the next episode it has a warewolf :)

[WARNING-SPOILERS!!!!]

Yep, they do three stories in two parts.

'Aliens of London'+'World War Three' (The episode 'Boom Town' could be considered a third part)
'The Empty Child'+'The Doctor Dances' (Probably the scariest, methinks!)
'Bad Wolf'+'The Parting Of The Ways'

But for the most part the episodes are all single parters. There is a bit of a story arc in them, with many plot points turning up in future eps (If you look carefully, there is one phrase in nearly all the episodes, but I'm not tellng you! ;) )

Sparx - April 24, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)
'The Empty Child' really freaked me out. That little kid was scary.

I haven't seen any episodes from the 2nd series yet since I'm in Australia but I'll definitely be watching when they do start airing here. I have seen The Christmas Invasion though and David Tennant looks like he'll make a good doctor.

David Tennant is a very good Doctor, he even meets up with the legend K-9 Again, it's so lovely, and it's all very funny.
I have or had a picture on my computer of David Tennant and Billie Piper both with the gas masks on. That episode gave me nightmares though.

Brightclaw - April 29, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
K-9!! That was a great eppi! But I won't give anything else away for fans out there!

Shrinia - April 29, 2006 08:22 PM (GMT)

*hyperventilates*
K-9! I WANNA SEE THE NEW SERIES COME TO AUSTRALIA!
*Cries*
Darn you ABC! <_<

The Furox - May 24, 2006 05:52 AM (GMT)
Oh, I was wondering if K-9 would make an appearance of some sort in the new series. That could be fun. :) We're not up to the David Tennant episodes here yet, so I won't see this one for awhile. Something to look forward to.

I'm really liking the new Doctor Who series so far. The two part episode "Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" was really good. So was "Father's Day". These stories were quite a bit darker than the old series, but that's more my taste. Also, the Doctor is far more involved with Rose than he ever was with any of his female sidekicks in the old series. Adds a new element to the show.

I really like the writing and I hope this series goes on for awhile.

Yes indeed >< They were hilarious!! *cough* I found the 2nd Cybermen episode a little sad. They all *trails off* Must not give anything away.

Sparx - May 26, 2006 07:17 AM (GMT)
I loved the darker episodes of the series. That little kid in the mask really freaked me out. Rose is a better companion than some of the previous ones but the series seems to center around her a lot. They should have more to do with the Doctor than Rose.

I've seen the first four eps of the 2nd series and it looks pretty good so far. I'm still getting used to the new Doctor.

Brightclaw - May 27, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)

SilverDragon - June 18, 2006 12:03 AM (GMT)
They've started showing previews for the new series here!!!!!!!!! It only says 'Coming Soon', but that's better than nothing!

The Furox - June 18, 2006 12:29 AM (GMT)
The last of the Christopher Eccleston episodes just aired here a week ago where the Doctor regenerates, of course. I must say that was an excellent set of episodes, so I think you'll enjoy it.

So Eccleston was the ninth Doctor, and if I recall correctly, time lords can only regenerate twelve times. That means there should only be two more Doctors after David Tennant. How much do you want to bet that the writers come up with a loop-hole to that rule. ;)

Though I guess they already have since back in the Tom Baker days, the Master had found a way to go past twelve regenerations. But of course, he had to steal someone else's body to do it and that wouldn't be the Doctor's style. ;)

Anyway, I'm now waiting for the David Tennant episodes to start here. I'm guessing they'll start up when the new TV season officially begins around September or October.

It'll probably be something like 'Oooh lookie, another set of regenerations in the closet!' and off we go again.

Rachel C - June 26, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)
Hey guys!
Thank you all for signing and stuff. You people over there are sooo going to love the new series, David Tennant is a good and funny Doctor, but the new series only has two more eps before the series is over. NOOO!!!
I have just realised, now I wont be able to see David Tennant as much. >_> Oh well, he better make the last eps good lol.

Brightclaw - June 26, 2006 03:32 PM (GMT)
The producer guy (Russel.T.Davis) Said that if they can't find another male doctor wiling to do the series they would make the doctor regenerate into a woman!! O_o how wierd would that be!!

Rachel C - June 26, 2006 03:36 PM (GMT)
Yeah! I can't imagine the Doctor as a woman, that would make it transgender, too weird. Also, David is staying on to do another series i think.

SilverDragon - July 1, 2006 10:14 AM (GMT)
Yes, he is! ^^

And they've announced the air times of the new series in Aus!!!!

7:30 PM NEXT SATURDAY ONWARDS.

If you're a sci-fi fan, SilverDragon, then I'm sure you'll really like the new Doctor Who series. They've really picked up the pace of the stories compared to older series and the special effects are much better. Overall, the show is darker and more dramatic, which really appeals to me, however they've retained the Doctor's wry wit and a bit of the campy-ness that makes Doctor Who what it is. I think they've done an excellent job with the new series. I'm looking forward to when the David Tennant episodes begin here, which I believe will be in fall.

Brightclaw - July 2, 2006 03:58 PM (GMT)
Ah *is speechless* That was such an AMAZING episode!!! ARGHHHHH!! I need to know what happens next!! GRAH!! :eep:

They used to show the old episodes here, but I'm not sure if they're doing that anymore. I like the old episodes! The David Tennant ones are great as well.

Well, all the Christopher Eccleston episodes are now out on DVD. You can always rent them if the show isn't airing where you are. And they are definitely worth seeing.

ShadowCat - July 4, 2006 10:16 AM (GMT)
I mean the really old episodes. Most of those aren't on DVD as far as I know.
