Things are a bit slow since new episodes aren't airing at the moment. So in the meantime, would folks like to have another contest to fill the time?

I have some left over prizes from the trivia contest to give away. For a change of pace, I thought we could do another funny caption contest like the one Natalilly ran a while back. If you wanted to do this, I'll pull a couple of dozen new frames from various episodes and people would try to come up with the funniest captions. I have prizes for the top four winners (as before, you can win any prize you haven't already won):

The question is: would you like to do this contest now while things are slow or would you prefer to wait until new episodes start airing again and traffic picks up?

I'm not sure how many people are regularly coming through these days, but I think we need at least 10 people to participate to make this worthwhile.

Actually, you (and Pyrrah) can still win any of the available prizes. You just can't win the same prize you've already won (I threw that in just to spread things around a bit). Since you previously won a deck of cards, that leaves you eligible for anything else. So feel free to join in and win!

Thanks, Sarah. Hopefully we can find a few more people. There are no new episodes airing here at the moment either, so I imagine things are going to be slow for a while. The last new episode that aired here was June 4th, and even though two additional episodes have aired in Canada, they seem to be holding them until we get past the holidays and perhaps even the entire summer vacation season. There are no new ones in the schedule through at least mid-July. It's a pity, but most shows go into re-runs over the summer, so it's not really surprising.

I think things like this are more fun if there's a large enough group to make it worthwhile. I'd say we'll start whenever we get six more people (give or take) that want to participate.

Several new people have joined since I originally posted this thread, so I wanted to refresh it and see if any of the new folks want to join in on this. I was given two more copies of the DVD, so I now have 3 copies to give away in addition to the other items listed in the first posting above.

I wonder if it's possible also take screenshots of the DB trailer on the DB central website. I tried at first, but then all I got was watching a movie on my MS Paint browser. :blink: Maybe I didn't do it right or maybe I can't catch a QuickTime Player screen...

If you're using quicktime, go to edit, and push copy when the picture you want comes to the screen. Or use your computer's print screen button. It works too, except you get the whole computer screen and have to cut out the part you want with Paint or something . . . .

If you're using Windows, then pressing the ALT + PRINT SCREEN keys will make a copy of just the current window as opposed to the full screen. There's less to edit out that way. Either way, once you use PRINT SCREEN then just paste into a paint program, image editor or other document. That should do the trick. (If you're on a Mac, let me know and I'll tell you how to do it there as well.)

I'll join. Although I've already got 'The Stand' on dvd. I've been taping them off the tv.

I don't know if I'm able to see well enough to do it, but I like seeing what other people come up with.

Sorry for the delay in getting this started. Work and several other things have been keeping me rather busy lately. I'll need a few more days to get it all together. On the plus side, we have more people here now, so it will be more fun.

And yes, if Sparx has no objections, we'll include those frames from "Misjudged" as well. That will save me a little time since I won't have to pull frames from that episode myself. Is that OK with you Sparx?

I've pulled about 250 frames so far and I'm down to the last episode I plan to grab frames from for this contest. A couple of more days should do it.

Yeah, I'm afraid I've gotten a little carried away. :D

It's just that once I started pulling frames it was like "Ooo, that one looks good, too. And so does that one, and that one.." Basically, it's the "kid in the candy store" effect. B)

I'm going to use a fair amount of jpeg compression so hopefully they'll load OK for people on dial-up. Hopefully people will be able to browse the collection without too much download time.

I'm almost ready! We'll be starting soon now. I have all the images ready and I'm in the final processing and upload stage.
