From the Web Site:
"In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Carl Henry Stevens Legacy Trust, a fund dedicated to the preservation of Pastor Stevens' recordings, notebooks, and papers from his years of public ministry."

Appears that the legacy of lying will continue. The web site is peppered with lies; blatant lies and half truths.
And, usurping the Stevens family wishes? ...well, I guess "the show must go on."
Those people, tbs/gg, are with out shame.

In my best Spicoli voice:
"Dude."
Carl's like Dracula and he'll strike from beyond the grave. Finally, Schaller and Co. have FULL control over the Hell Toupee. Much like Tupac, he's worth more dead than alive. All kidding aside, Carl'll be a junior L. Ron Hubbard. Blessings are being counted right now. "I actually got to hear PASTOR preach in PERSON!"
Brief "testimony" (and hopefully a little catharsis, eh?): I never even attended GGWO, but I sure as hell let that asshole get WAY underneath my skin. Yeah, he was an evil bastard and he ran a cult, but getting too excited about him is like worrying about speeding at the Indy 500. For every Carl, there's a hundred more like him and an eager audience, too. Just check out that FLDS compound in Texas. Those people don't feel "rescued". They feel persecuted. But I digress.
I wasted too much time.
This evil never dies.
"It's a dry heat."

The memorial website says:
"His most recent days were spent battling the challenges related to Alzheimer’s disease and chronic back and hip pain, pneumonia and heart issues. Now those challenges are things of the past for Pastor."
They could have easily made a truthful statement by making a general statement that attributed his death to failing health and old age. But they could not resist the urge to lie and talk about Alzheimer's and back pain. They lie even when they don't have to.
Guest - June 5, 2008 02:11 AM (GMT)
Unfortunately lying seems to be a part of the legacy!!! Being up front and telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth never seemed to be the GGWO way. Now there's Schaller, Scibelli, and Love that will be striving more than ever to keep the legacy and teachings of Carl alive. Of course all three of them stand to benefit personally from it when it comes to controlling the people, using the people, coercing large amounts of money from the people and having great power over the people. Of course these three guys want to keep the legacy going since they are the ones with the most to gain from it!!! Part of that of course involves preserving the teachings of Carl so the people will continue to be given the Kool-aid of Carl to keep them under control and willing to serve the leadership like during the Carl days. The idol still gets worshipped even when he's dead. The people still get indoctrinated with the idol's teachings even when he's gone. Preserve the teachings. Preserve the legacy. Preserve the worship of men.

Maybe they'll keep on telling their lies and 300 or Laird or someone else will catch them in one and the lightbulb will go off.

Looks like this site is having even more technical problems. Can't even log in now under my own name. After logging in, the posts are still going in as "guest". I guess my new name will be "guest" for a while.

Thanks Dave. I've been trying that repeatedly, but the system won't even acknowledge that I've even logged on even after going through the log on menu with the correct username and password. First I get the screen that I'm logged in, but then when I see screens with threads and posts on them, the system still says I'm in there as a "guest" and not "sidethorn". I've been plagued with many technical issues like webpages intermittently not being found for days and days and now I can't even log on under my own name. I've sent emails to the discussGGWO email address to alert them to the problems. I guess I'll have to be another "guest" for now or unregistered "sidethorn" for now.

You people have no respect for the living or the dead, nothing is sacred to you.
Guest - June 5, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
You're right. The only thing we hold sacred is God. We don't hold a man sacred and worship him. Soon you will put flowers at his statue. You will worship his tapes, his picture. Nahustan!

why, because the world would end if you had to sign on as a guest for awhile?
The Admin has a life, a full one at that. How about cutting the Admin a break and just sucking it up? It's not like you're paying for it.

Thanks Dave. That might just do it. I'm currently signed in under a different IP for now and things seem to be working now. I plan to try out that other IP later today. As of right now, my PC that's linked to that other IP is turned off. Later I'll turn it back on, log in and it should probably work out by then. Have a great one.

I have arrived.
I have done the supernatural.
I can die now and be happy.
My purpose in life has been fulfilled.
I have made Arguendo laugh.
With Carl's passing, then surely these must be the last days.
I think I can hear the angel tuning his trumpet.
Jesus must be making His desent now.

The reason that they were able to put this website up so quickly is because they had been working on it for weeks.

um...I think a pro wrote that. Probably the same pros that have been helping them with their image. It's pretty common for obits to be written months are even year in advance.

If it were a pro, it wasn't a good one. So many of the photos were not good. With so many photos taken throughout the years, I'm surprised they couldn't find better ones. Some were comical in ways that were not intended...like the one of S.haune Regate looking with disbelief as Carl preaches on Telephone Time. Then there is the one with a Bar filled with booze behind Carl with some ladies. Why are there no pictures when Carl was a young adult, getting married, or when the kids were young? Then there are many pictures of him in Africa as if he were a full-time missionary. There were many, many better pictures taken throughout the years, but I guess they were taken by people who left the ministry.

Africa? That was Africa? Gosh, I thought it was CANADA. :o

After having his own churches and "world wide outreach," he ends up being buried by the same church he started out with that doesn't even believe in Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Re the comment about the pix on the memorial site not being the best, also keep in mind that they had to comb through and make sure none of the early elders/dissenters got in there (i.e., Lewis, Robinson, etc.).
Guest - June 9, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
of course, of course, why didn't I think of that? There have been so many people who have left the ministry that it must have been very difficult to find photos. They must not have anyone skilled with Photoshop. You can just erase those guys.
Guest - June 9, 2008 02:54 PM (GMT)
I think the one with John Love and Carl Stevens was photoshopped. It was added later. John couldn't stand that there was no picture of him with the Holy Man.

Now that would be consistant with the way that they treat those who don't agree with them.
Just erase them and never think of/talk to/have enything to do with them again.
After all they're evil infected and worse than lost.

Carl's funeral was at the Universalist church, simply because of the family and the grave being right up the street. The pastor that did it was an old friend of Carls, named Bob Colby. There was also a memorial service for the public the next day in Oxford with Pastor Waterhouse. A number of family, pastors that left GGWO and friends were there. There will be one more thing at Finished Work Ministries in Fallston for the other people that left GGWO. Steve and Paul will be there. It is Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

How true Dave. After they're done slandering a person to the point that there's nothing much left of their reputation, they just ignore them, forget about them, and treat them like some evil, unentreatable, reprobate that is never to be approached again.

I read Hodeuon's comments about today's Grace Hour. And yesterday's. And the last week's worth.
If the comments about Carl Stevens both on the radio and on the Greater Grace website are NOT proof of the "sentimentality" Greater Grace members have towards Stevens, how CAN you interpret it?
Remember that he was a man who often SCREAMED at college students that they shouldn't be "sentimental" about their own PARENTS and go home for the summer. He mocked and riduculed the mere idea, shaming people into staying. (Where they could keep tithing to his church, keep providing free and cheap labor, etc.)
God let the Israelites mourn Moses for 30 days, then told them to get going.
Anyone want to bet that the circus at the plaza will continue longer than thirty days? (After all, he was a greater one than Moses, wasn't he?) Who ever heard of a week's worth of festivities surrounding a funeral?! Who ever heard of mailing thousands of invitations to a funeral (with a money request included "in lieu of flowers")?
guest - June 10, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
wasn't it Carl that preached that mourning should last only 24 hrs ? What happened with that? Was it just a ploy to get attention and time away from loved ones? Or was it cause he wanted to start openly dating after Barbara 1 died. I remember him claiming it was biblical.
sidethorn - June 10, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
Carl loved to preach whatever would prove to be convenient for himself at the moment!!!! He would even change some things around if he saw it would benefit him.
Needless to say, I won't be attending the "Praise the Carl" circus this Saturday or be donating a cent to that fund for the preservation of his teachings!!!! Got too many better things to do.
