Rather than interrupting numerous other threads for political free-for-alls, I created this thread instead. Got your boxing gloves ready?

Following Months of Criticism, Obama Quits His Church
Senator Barack Obama has resigned his membership in Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, which he attended for nearly two decades, following months of controversy about pastors and their political views....

“Our relations with Trinity have been strained by the divisive statements of Reverend Wright, which sharply conflict with our own views,” they wrote. “These controversies have served as an unfortunate distraction for other Trinity members who seek to worship in peace, and have placed you in an untenable position.”

....Now that Mr. Obama has addressed his ties to the church and pastor in a long speech and fully broken with both, it is not clear what else he can say or do to ameliorate the continued concerns of some voters about those associations. (emphasis added)

Now I feel free to trust Obama as much as I would trust any IAGM pastor. Sure they say they weren't doing and teaching all that stuff, but old cult habits die hard.

He was either brain-dead or drinking the kool-aid for 20 years. He let his children listen to that stuff. That REALLY makes me comfortable with his ability to think critically and make sound decisions for my children's future.

Thanks!

These days, I'm close to adopting the mentality of "Don't vote -- it only encourages them." So I've not spent much time following any of the political fighting going on.

So many political comments are just like so many religious comments: the speaker things if they're real loud and arrogant in their assertion, it MUST be true. You didn't write many words, but you sure put it in a context that makes a great deal of sense to me!

Ron Smith of WBAL is fond of saying If your vote really counted, they would not let you do it.

There is more truth to that than we might want to know...when you study history and politics you get a sense that there is a man behind the curtain who is pulling all the strings...some commentators say that America has long been sold to corporate interests, not just on our soil but internationally...this might be a good part of the reason why our economy has become so vulnerable lately.

When people come from Europe and other places to "shop for bargains" because their money is worth more here than at home...well, that's unsettling. It seems we are relying more and more upon foriegn systems and economies.
