History: Pale and sickly, Venice spent most of her life in a hospital fighting a mysterious illness that raged through her body and slowly darkened her mind, putting her in a state of depression and hopelessness. She would spend each day that she was awake staring through the window and looking at the bustling world outside the hospital. She longed for its adventures and even dangers, feeling as if she wasn't really living. On the occasional days during which her health seemed to recover slightly, she would get to spend time outside in the hospital's courtyard. But this only happened a few times.

Her family contributed to her depression. Originally they were caring and loving, coming each day to visit, sometimes not leaving the building for days at a time. But as time went on, Venice's mother began depressed, retreating to their home to sulk and drink. And her father was becoming stressed by the hospital bills, beginning to lash out on Venice, even telling her that she should hurry up and die and make their lives easier. Her heart shattered at his words and she slowly began suicidal, often trying to do simple things that risked her fragile health, acting as if she was seeking independence but really trying to die. She miserable in her hospital room, which was no longer decorated with bright flowers and balloons. She was barely ever visited by her family and her friends had forgotten her.

Even when her health started to show signs of improvement, it attracted no visitors. It had played the same cruel trick on them before, making her better for a moment before suddenly getting worse. Venice grew bitter, feeling like a prisoner and sometimes lashing out at the nurses. She wanted so much to be a normal girl, just like a long time ago, before the coughing and fainting began. She wanted her family back. But she knew those things were out of her reach, and found herself praying for an escape of some kind, any kind.

One day, she got her wish, waking up with a strange device in her hand, with an onyx base color and a rosy pink trim with matching buttons. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but it probed a bit of much needed interest, distracting her from her boring hospital room. As she tinkered with the object, she noticed some sort of digital egg on the screen, and she figured it was one of those digital pet type toys. It wasn't really her thing, but she had nothing else to do, so she continued to examine it curiously, her eyes widening as the egg looked like it was beginning to hatch, a bright light emanating from the little screen and blinding her. She then lost consciousness quite suddenly, unaware that her wish was coming true.

RP Sample:

Darkness. Closed eyelids keeping the light from Venice's eyes. At first she couldn't seem to open them. They felt so heavy, and she felt very sluggish, as she tended to whenever she woke up. She released a breath in the form of a sigh, followed by a gentle groan. "Ugh," was all that her voice made out for the moment. The girl felt a gentle warmth on her skin, something she hadn't felt in so long. Sunshine. Her eyes flickered open slowly, seeing the sky briefly before turning her head away to spare her eyes from the bright light. She then realized that she was lying down outdoors somewhere, not even near the hospital. She could felt the earth beneath her, and she could see beautiful and colorful flowers surrounding her closely, almost as if embracing her.

The ends of her mouth slowly moved upwards, her lips curving into a smile at this. It had been so long since she had been close to flowers. Visitors to her hospital room were scarce, and trips to the outside garden were seldom as well. It was mostly white walls that were in her company. Pale, stone cold, hard walls, and a tinted window that dimmed the sunshine that tried to get into the room. Venice knew that the stay was for her own health, but she felt as if she wasn't even living life at all, really. She didn't go to school, or to the amusement park. She couldn't drive, or go on dates. She wasn't a complete vegetable but she felt that she lived like one.

A tear slipped from her eye as she reached for a flower, not picking it, but gently touching the soft petals. It dawned on her that she was alone in this place, and lovely as it was, it seemed to be completely foreign to her. Then again, so was nearly every place outside the hospital. But Venice didn't even see any buildings around at all. How could she have possibly gotten here?

Suddenly a thought crossed her mind as she noted the beautiful and gentle surroundings. Perhaps...this was heaven? Had she finally died? But something wasn't right with this theory. She was alone. There should have been angels, or other accepted souls around her. But there were none. The girl sighed, mentally beating herself up for thinking such a foolish thought. Besides, would she even go to heaven? She wasn't exposed to religion very much at all, the closest thing to attending church had been watching a Christian program on a barely functional TV in the hospital room. She never could hear much of what was being said, the sound being faulty on the small television.

Venice slowly sat up with a sigh, suddenly feeling something in her lap. She looked down, startled to find a large egg in her lap, the size of an ostrich egg, and colored with pink stripes that wrapped around it. A giant Easter egg? Preposterous! Easter had passed by months ago. She gentle touched the egg, curiously staring at, wondering if it was the same egg from the device she had gotten. Again she mentally slapped herself, thinking that such thoughts were idiotic. But somehow...

(Sorry its so bad. I'll try to edit more into it later, if I can think of anything.)
