| I made a tut for anyone who needs to clean their firmware. Your psp is "Unclean" if- -You ever used X-Flash, ThemePSP, or any other Flash editor. -You downgraded and your PSP seems edited (strange background/boot sound, etc.) Note that if you used my downgrader package you must do this! If your PSP is "unclean" lots of homebrew wont launch and you could brick at anytime. If you'd like to "clean" your PSP, here's how- How to clean your Firmware. By Durka Durka Mahn Step 1- Make a new folder anywhere on your computer for a place to extract a few files. Step 2- A- Download the 1.5 eboot from PSP-Hacks http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/4 B- Download the 2.0 -> 1.5 Downgrader (MPH) from PSP-Hacks http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/3 *NOTE- If you have Norton Internet Security (and some other Anti Virus Programs) you must shut it off to download this file. The reason is because Sony paid some Anti-Virus companies to block the overflow.tff file that lets you downgrade from 2.0 to 1.5. Pathetic, ain't it? Step 3- Extract the two files, and make a folder named UPDATE for the 1.5 update eboot. Step 4- Format your memory stick. *NOTE- If you want to keep your gamesaves, music, and other stuff, you must first back it up, then format. (If you don't know what formatting is, it's a fast way of clearing all the memory off, to do this you go to Settings-> System Settings-> Format Memory Stick) Step 5- Connect via USB, drag the downgrader files (from the MPHdowngrader.zip file) to the root of your memstick. Hit yes if it asks to overwrite. Now go to the PSP folder, make a folder called GAME if you don't already, and move the 1.5 update (that we put in the UPDATE folder) in the GAME folder. Step 6- Start charging your PSP, and run the UMD Update (2.0) Step 7- After that is finished, open the Photo setting from the XMB. A bunch of numbers will pop up. Wait about a minute, then hold your power switch up until your PSP shuts off. Step 8- You are now emulating PSP FW 1.0. Run the 1.5 Update from the GAME setting. Step 9- After it gets to 99%, it will say an error has occured. Don't worry, it hasn't. Hold the power switch up until it shuts off. Step 10- You have now officially cleaned your firmware. All homebrew will run, and you have no worries about bricking! *NOTE- ThemePSP, XFlash, and any other "Flash Editors" will make your PSP "unclean" again and you may brick. DO NOT USE THEM! |
