A summary has been made of the latest findings about GTA IV, taking information from several different magazines to a simple point by point fact sheet.

QUOTE
Courtesy of Mattyblog, we’ve compiled a nice summary of all the new details recently found in the latest issues of Xbox 360 World UK, PSU3 Magazine UK, Xbox 360 Magazine UK, and finally Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK:

    * Niko can have several missions active at one time, cycling through them via your phone’s ‘To Do’ list.
    * And in the middle of a mission, Niko can take on entirely different jobs.
    * Niko can pay double the amount to make the taxi drivers drive twice as fast.
    * The Xbox 360 Version of the game is 80% complete.
    * The itself is set in October 2007.
    * Pedestrians also Cough, Sneeze, Smoke and Mutter in their breath.
    * Hardly any duplicate pedestrian models and car models in the same area.
    * Throughout the game, bigger weapons will have to be stashed out of sight or Niko will attract attention.
    * The offices are large with multiple rooms and the jumpy glitchiness of the PS2 titles is largely absent.

Looking back through our previous coverage on the game, it seems your in-game cell phone will serve a good purpose in many aspects of the game. Besides being handy for going through your missions, the phone will enable players to maintain good relationships with other characters and will allow them to access the multiplayer part of the game. Also, the fact that the Xbox 360 edition is already 80% complete suggests that GTA IV will be out sooner than Fall 2008, as some have come to believe.

Full article here

What I'm really pleased about is that it's set in the very near present - october 2007! Looks like they wanted it to be set in the same date as the release date of the game, but that delay has changed Rockstar's wishes. Still, doesn't affect the game, so it's cool.
Also, there's no glitchiness (I'm guessing they mean framerate jumps and weird pop-ups) and.....NO MORE DUPLICATE VEHICLES!!!

For the first time ever, we won't be wondering around in a street looking for a car, only to see there's the same car everywhere you look. Same with pedestrians too.

Plus, the 360 version is 80% complete! Looks like they'll be having plenty of time to polish the 360 version while they wait for the new release date.

Can't wait for this game!

This is looking fucking awful.
I got PSM3 yesterday. Its says theres alot of glitches.

They said that in the first mission (the one where you shoot the lawyer) there were a few ped mishaps and unrealistic stuff.

They went onto mention that when they shot the guy, in a reasonably busy area..the peds didnt react as if someone had just been shot (typical gta sa behavior) they just carried on walking..and a few ran. No screams..no animations.

There were a few other stuff..they said that you use internet cafe's and that you have to use fake CV's to get a job. So that you can participate in certain missions.

They mentioned throughout the article too, that you could see loads of sloppyness and developer mistakes..maybe the expectations are too high?

And the fact that the games 80% complete is worrying. I thought it was almost finished and they were just fixing a few graphical glitches and multiplayer..

Hence why it's been delayed....? And didn't you say they played the PS3 demo?

About the info, Sounds cool. I see rockstar are trying to make it as realistic as possible. Can't wait for the game, But Gears of war 2 may just ruin the release.

Gears of War 2 hasn't even been announced.
Sure, it's obvious there IS going to be a GoW2, but they haven't said anything about it, let alone a release date.
I'd say GoW2 will come somewhere around early 2009, at the earliest.

I know. I just presumed it might come out 2008, as it came out 2006. Most games take around 2 - 3 years to make.

Thus the fact I put 'might'.

That was the PS2 era dude.
This gen, sequels take around 3 years to make. Look at GTA IV and Halo 3.

Still though, Some games are being made in two years as technology expands and improves.

The game engine takes up alot of time, but when you have made it you can easily just start another game using the same engine.
