Wow, Bungie are really going to the extremes to make this game as good as they can and for it to redefine the word "fun" in gaming.
Check this out.

Woah.. Awesome screenshots, and awesome detail.
Halo 3 has got to be Game of the year if they are putting that much effort into it...

I'm worried for you guys. Killzone 2 screenshots look better then those, and its 6 months from release. Isnt Halo 3 coming out this year?

Yeah, because great graphics is what really makes a game fun for you.
And frankly I prefer Halo 3's graphics to Killzone 2's because of it's style.
Halo has it's own unique style and is full of a bright variety of colours to truely bring out the best in the environments and give the player that "wow" factor.
Killzone 2 is just greys and whites - and making high-res graphics out of that is no massive achievement for today.

Woah...there's a whole load of Halo 3 videos flying around the internet after the iMax event - and they're all CLEAR for once!
Damn, it looks sick!

I dont like the "green fields and orange sky". Its unrealistic. Killzone 2 is realistic fictional game. Half the shit would never happen in Killzone, in real life. But if they did, it would be like in Killzone.
Have you even seen the trailer? The lightening effects?

The slightly better graphics wont make up for its gameplay it has to compete with halo. Halo has the largest community of gamers and will outsell killzone 2 (My guess is it will take killzone 2 about a month to catch up to halo 3's launch date sales.) But we'll see, analyzers say its possible and they predicted it, I do as well. In fact if there is a more overrate game IMO, its killzone... it looks like the same game i saw on ps2 but on steroids... Looks like it will play the same, and not to much new. A dev can add graphics and AI and physics but they can't develop the community that halo has, and probably always will... Its already in the history books (each game they have made has hit history books and halo 3 isn't out yet.) But i am excited that the ps3 will get its first AA exclusive title. And the MGS4, I hope that the 360 community does NOT get that game though, sony needs it too much.

Maybe that's because Halo's a "sci-fi" game?
No idea where you got the "orange sky" and "green fields" from, because I don't remember seeing anything like that in Halo 3.
And even if there was, that "orange sky" would probably be the sunsetting, whilst green fields would probably be.....green fields.
And does it matter what could happen (etc) ? It's a game, so the developers are free to do pretty much what they want. Thinking realistically often limits the developers freedom, which is what makes Halo such a great game - they were able to mix content and different features to make a great blend of gameplay, whilst not being totally ridiculous.
Yeah, I've seen the trailler. And I don't know about you, but to me good lighting effects is standard in this gen's games. Have you seen Halo 3's lighting effects? The RTR? The bloom? The highly artistic design? The massive variety of bright colours? The physics?
It all adds up to one hell of a visually impressive game - more than the likes of Bioshock and Gears of War in my eyes. Bioshock and GoW may have better technical graphics, but as for overall visuals, the picture that the human eyes capture so vividly and is attracted to, Halo 3 stands on top.
Oh by the way, I'm actually worried for you guys that have such hype for Killzone 2. The developers are gonna make a massive change to the game if they don't want it to end up having craptastic gameplay like Killzone 1 (remember gameplay? No? That aspect that makes the game FUN to play? No, no, not graphics, gameplay)

This is what I mean by truely beautiful graphics, straight from an artist's mind:

I've just seen some fottage from the Halo 3 campiagn.... Wow.
Thats is just an awesome setting, Covenant dropships hovering in the sky, Excellent sky, Brilliant enviroment...
I cannot wait. About that RROD, I have had it once, that was years ago. i once left it on for a whole day, (Accidentally) and it has't overheated.
deep:cover - August 23, 2007 11:09 AM (GMT)
RROD was a pain a year or so ago, but today it's nothing to worry about. If you don't have the latest model, if you console does overheat the repairs are free, plus you'll be sent back a 360 with the new heatsink and chip to prevent overheating and improve system performance. So from now on, we're pretty much set for heat-free gaming.
And WOW.Shall we change this to a "Official Halo 3 Topic" topic?

I would if I could but I can't...
