When, how and why did you first get into the GTA series? Always been interested by this, since most people would probably have different stories.

Here's mine:

I hadn't even heard of a game called GTA when I got into it.
I was watching a game show programme on TV, and they were reviewing GTA3 on PS2. I had always intended on getting PS2, but the first sight of this game interested me. I continued to watch.

I loved the Driver games on PS1, they were my favourite games, next to Gran Turismo back then (note the "back then", now I hate GT - too repetitve, and Driver games are absolute sh*t now). This game reminded me so much of Driver, and I loved it. The amazing graphical improvement over the Driver games, the same run-around and piss-about style that Driver had, it made me fall in love with the game just by watching it.
I don't remember any of the review, except this part where the guy was driving a Manana that was crashed so much. The flapping of the doors as he turned, the realistic (back then) damage effects, and the excitement and tensity of all the cops chasing you, it's stayed in my mind even today, that little clip.

Later, when the PS2 was released, I went to my local PC World, and my Dad purchased a PS2 with GT3 and GTA3. GTA3 hadn't been released, so they said they'll deliver it when it arrives in stock. Meantime I played GT3, which didn't exactly make me go "OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD", but it passed the time.
When GTA3 finally got delivered through my door the next week or so, I opened it, put the disc in, and actually fell addicted straight away.

The sheer leap and enormity of the game from previous, no known as,"GTA-style" games was so big and amazing. The depth of gameplay made me feel right in the game...

From them on, GTA was my #1 game series, and always has been today.
Although Halo falls awfully close to it. On level in fact.

I know some of you may flame me and say "GTA PWNS HALO", but that's your opinion I guess. The swing of which series is my favourite will happen late this year, with Halo 3 and GTA IV...I can't wait.

I saw my cousin playing Vice City and I was a little kid then so I thought it was scary (with all the guns) and stupid but my mother insisted I buy it since there are cars and you can drive. She failed to see that you can shoot people in the game so she bought it for me and I just was wasting time crashing cars. Now I find is funny to shoot people and Vice City's my favorite GTA.

First time I played gta I was 8 or 9, I think. I played it at one of my uncle's house (he was 11-ish at the time). After which I played it quite a bit at home. However I didn't really get addicted before I got a ps2 and III in the end of 2003.

Right after completing III I got VC and right after completing that the first SA info was released and I got into that whole hype.

Saw my mom's friend's son playing it, and fell in love with it. (GTA 3)

some kids at school were talking about GTA III for the ps2 (I was in 7th grade at the time) and it made me want to get it. when I did get a ps2, gta III was the game I got with it. that's the first time I got addicted.

the first time I played a gta however, was in the 5th grade with gta1.

My mom bought me a GBA and the Dude at walmart was like ya this game is a racing game... lol.. sooo she brought it home i'm like mom cool it's a shooting game shes like ... <_< he said it was racing...


then about a year or two later i met Edie. edie had a ps2 and GTA3. i fell in love from that moment on! ^_^

I was asked to betatest it. At Rockstar Vancouver.

When i was younger i played on my cousins GTA3 and i was addicted straight away, my dad then bought me it , and then for christmas i got GTAVC, i then pre-ordered SA and i got it the day before it came out ( i went to the local shopping centre and i went into the game shop's and i was like i've got that :D)

i seen Jaystaffo playing GTA1.I thought the graphics were not the best but as soon as GTA3 came out thats when i really got into it.Then the best GTA came out next(in my opinion)and the rest is history.

I started off playing gta 1 the first or second day after it came out and I've been hooked ever since sese

Damn, if you played GTA since the first game when it just came out, then you must've been destine to play GTA. :blink:

Lol, so he got picked to beta test a 18+ game when he was about 11 years old.

But lets not go off topic...

i played gta 2 at my mateshouse on the ps1 and well i loved it. i loved going around farting and burping lol thenmy brother got a ps2 and he got gta 3 and he sometimes let me play it when he went out he said i could find the hidden packages witch was fun for me but i found the whole game (gta3) fun because it was 3d. then when i got my ps2 i forgot about gta3 because my brother sold it ages befor i got my ps2 so when i got mine san andreas was out i wanted it but my mum said it would be to hard for me so she got me vice city then i waited until christmas 2004 and i got san andreas

and i have loved gta ever since

Every time I would go over to my cousins house I would play GTA VC. I LOVED it was so fun just to drive around and crash cars and kill people. I was like 10, so that xmas I got a PS2 and he gave me vice city. I got so invoted in it. From then on out I have been a GTA fan.

My cousin got gta3. I had gta 1 and 2 on my pc. But i was too young to understand who "harry chrisnas" and stuff were. So i just did the driving and running people over.

Then i saw my cousin playing gta3. He had a ps2, i had a gamecube. Whilst games like supersmash bros melee were fun. This blew my mind.

I did play it every so often, parents didnt mind, as they realised i had a good moral. They've raised me in away, that means i wont get effected by these. Even at a young age i used to laugh it off. Always saying things like "See, that wouldnt be possible in real life". Damn i was smart as a kid.

Anyway, Vice City came out, this was excellent. The palm trees! the sand! everything was soo miami!

Well, i finally traded in my gamecube and got a ps2. That was when MGS2 came out. I clocked that and was looking for a game.

Enter Vice City.

After completing vice city at the age of nine. I started playing shooting games and wresting ones.

Then San Andreas came out. I bought it straight away. Clocked it moments later.

Damn, i still remember the grin on my face as my obese cj emptied a clip on some poor balla. :P

Since then, i've been an addict. Finished SA, LCS and VCS.

Its safe to say, i've been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
