Flicking back to the present, yes there is KINDA a Halo 3 demo coming out.
It's a Halo 3 public Beta test that will be happening in "Late Spring" this year. In case you're that late, the final version of Halo 3 is due for release in "Fall 2007", somewhere around November probably.
Anyway, it's a BETA test, so that means it's just everyone testing out a bit of Halo 3 Multiplayer to make sure it's free of bugs and glitches before the final version ships.
Unfortunately, if you have a 360 and were planning to get the Beta, or demo (whatever), then you're out of luck because all places are taken and nobody can apply for the Beta anymore. You're only luck is to hope your friend managed to get into the Beta.

Well there's no way to get into the Beta anymore Joshy, but there is one way.

If you buy a copy of Crackdown, you get a free Halo 3 Beta code to be activated when the Beta starts in Spring (renting the game won't work).

And yeah, it's hard to tell, but you can just make out the movement caused by his breathing in my avatar.

And it's a BETA. There's a different between demo and beta.


Beta's NOT the final game, it has a few glitches and bug issues and still needs finishing touches.

Demos are the actual FINAL game, except you only get a "taster" of the game, so not everything will be playable then in the retail version.


The Betas out next month, May 16th if i remember correctly, and NOT before then...Nobody else would have played, or even seen it in action in real life, until this date, except of course the obvious (Bungie, Microsoft employees (?), a few game critics e.g. 1up and EGM).

There was a demo for the PC version of Halo, and it worked out quite well--the only level was "The Silent Cartographer", but there was also Blood Gulch for multiplayer. Some people even went so far as to set up demo clans (yes, really).

A Halo 3 demo is definitely not an impossibility. I don't think it's necessary though, seeing as Halo is so well known that this is a game every shooter-loving 360 owner will want to get.

I check the Bungie website every week and I've checked all the latest updates every week and they've said OFFICIALLY many times that the Beta (or demo, whatever you want to call it) will start on May 16th and NOT before that. No game shop will get it before that date, not even the case of the game will be sent to shops or anything like that.
The only taste of what Halo 3 is like to play will be in May 16th, nothing before.
And I've also checked the forums, and nobody has played it...well obviously.

I know alot more about Halo that you do, and I know that you have not played Halo 3, especially in some game shop.

And one of those differences is that the Beta isn't being released to attract customers (like you said, they don't need to do that), it's being held to try and get the community to find bugs and glitches in the game, so Bungie can go and fix them before the game releases late this year.

I know about the difference between betas and demos, but this topic was specifically about the possibility of a demo.

What will be interesting to see is how the beta compares to the final game. In the case of Halo 2 there were entire multiplayer maps shown at E3 that vanished completely from the release version. I'd also expect the interface to change a little bit too, as right now it's quite Halo 2-ish.

And the interface seen in ViDocs are just temperory. The true user interface has yet to been seen by anyone but Bungie (well that would be an intelligent guess).

And firstly you should try playing Halo properly. Either own the game, and go through the whole single player in your own time, or play a few multiplayer games with 3 other mates, or take 3 friends online against others.

You can think what you like but... I don't beleive you. The campaign isn't compiled yet, and the few multiplayer maps you have are the only things Bungie have actually managed to compile. Everything else is in a Alpha stage, which is unplayable.

And to be honest, they haven't even made a CD for Halo yet, and there is no possible place to download it from marketplace or PC, so how did Gamestop have it?

So you're telling me, that some game shop around the corner has a "demo" of Halo 3, while NONE of the game critics like IGN, Gamespot, etc have not heard anything about it and have never played it (except 1up, but that was at Bungie Studios itself).

And OF COURSE nobodys got the campaign...as if they're going to reveal any levels to anyone but other Bungie members. Not even Microsoft employees have played Campaign.

And actually we don't know if they've compiled the maps, but you're wrong about only compiling the Public Beta 3 maps (Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound).
What I meant when I said "if you said you played it at a friend's house, maybe I would believe you" was about the leaked footage released lately.
Apparently, they've compiled more than 3 maps, one of which is the new ZANZIBAR (woohoo!).
The leaked footage was from some guy playing Halo 3 BETA online over Xbox Live (NOT the Beta that's going to happen next month - it's a different Beta)...., recorded it and posted it on the internet. It isn't known HOW these people got to play online, in their own homes (of course, Bungie ain't commenting anything, but they have said it's real), but it is known that they're Halo 3 testers...well looks like they got one less now.
The retard covered the names...but he never covered the KILLS (haha), so Bungie saw who it was, and three years of repping up his gametag has gone to nothing. He's banned and his gamertag's been erased.

If you put it in terms of Resistance, it flattens it to the ground. And why not say it? It's a valid point - it's a damn youtube video and quality is poor. Even though, you can still tell the graphics are pretty damn amazing.

The bad quality basically removes the self shadowing, the real-time lighting, special effects, etc etc - all the qualities of a game that gives it that "omg..." factor.
Also, it's a Beta. All the "frame-by-frame analysers" have noticed that special and finishing touches to the game aren't yet there. Things like the special effects for grenade explosions are missing.

Remember, these people got ahold of Halo 3 multi cos it's being TESTED. Of course it ain't finished, hence the "Beta".

And for a Beta, which still has around 7 months production time left, it's looking pretty damn good.

They could release the game like this now if they wanted, but no. Bungie are making this game special, trying to squeeze as much as they can into the game to give the thrilling, story arc that's entertained thousands and thousands go out with lots of fireworks.
