On reading the rules about volunteering there is nothing specific about Royal marines volunteering. Could I, for example, volunteer as a RM Capt on board the Blockade squadron, bearing in mind that it is a Lieutenants post and are all filled at present? Also could I volunteer as a seaman but keep the Captains modifyers?

Yes I thought point 2 would be pushing it B) But the first point I feel needs clarifying, this also leads me to RMs going on a John Company voyage, a) Can they do this as all RMs have a ship, and B) What rank etc do they sail as, would it be as a crew or an equiv brevet naval rank ie Capt RM = Lt RN or would they sail as a Marine? I feel that there are other dicrepancies or omissions in the rules with regard to RMs ie I have a horse but nowhere in the rules says I have to have one?
