Been reading up on the duals rules, and got a bit lost on the line "seconds may intervene to stop duel". Can someone please enlighten me on the educate of duelling and the duties of 2nds? much thanks. :fight:

Duels are fought at a pre-arranged place (which is assumed in the rules to be anywhere as long as the two players order the duel in their orders but for role-playing purposes is often decided by letter). The seconds often deal with all the details...for example.

Dear Sir,

My principle has instructed me to arrange his part of your forthcoming duel if you would be so good as to furnish me with the name of your second then I will make all the arrangements with him.

I remain...etc

Dear Sir,

My Principle, Captain....., has asked me to contact you to make arrangements with regards to his and your principle's, Lt ...., forthcoming duel. I suggest that we meet by the bakery on Old Kent Road at dawn on the 1st day of September. As this is matter of politics it is my sugegstion that the duelest use which ever weapon best suits their needs...etc...

The main, in rules, job of the second is to enforce a surrender. i.e. if I were dueling I might write in my orders - "Surrender after two hits by my opponent" but I might also write "do not accept surrender" ... this is where a second comes in...I don't think he can stop a duel at any other time...

hope this all helps...
