2 questions if you do not mind. Just found my barkley card does not work on board ship.

1)Would there be a shylock on HMS Halcyon, or do I have to be ashore to find one?.

2) do they lend what you ask for, or do they haggle ie they have a limit ?

Shylocks are everywhere mate :)

Requires no specific journey, borrowing is part of pre-monthly orders.

The rates are fixed as are the repayments; no negotiating advisable :)

Better check the rules on this one. In many games, you may borrow to a maximum of 100x your status level. And that's total - if you're SL 5 and you owe 300, you can't borrow another 300.

I'd hate to see you get stuck in a corner with finances, but anyway that's how a lot of games work and rules may be different here.

Yup that's right -

Characters can borrow up to 100xsocial level guineas from shylocks, which is repayed in 6 months with 10% interest (eg SL 2 borrow 200g in August, then repay 220g in Feb).

If social level increases, you can borrow extra funds up to the same limit, but have to repay the full debt in six months ( eg if the above example got an increase to SL 3 in October, he could borrow an extra 100g, but would then owe 330g in Feb)

You cannot borrow extra money from the shylocks to pay off the debt. (eg if SL 7 by Feb, you could not borrow an extra 400g to pay off the 330g owing)

If you don't pay your debts, you are disgraced and have to volunteer to serve at the front until the debts are repayed.

Borrowing from characters is unlimited in amount and duration, but a character can ask for his money back any time after 3 months, and the debtor will have to go to the front if unable to pay.
