Just wondered, as we have the London Opera, whether we could have theatres too? They'd be an opportunity for players to waste money, sorry, invest money in. Perhaps players could pay for plays to be written or just invest in productions. A simple table could determine if the play is a success and +/- SPs as a result. Players could influence the table by hiring a claque to cheer/boo productions. SPs might also be gained if the well-to-do or Royalty visit. There could also be a box system similar to the loges at the opera.
Investment: 100G - 500G
Having a play written:
50G Written by a Scribbler -1 on roll.
100G Written by a Journeyman - no mod.
150G Written by an Accomplished Playwright +1 on roll.
250G Written by a Master +2 on roll.
Here's a suggested table: (2d6 +/- mods.)
0,1,2,3 : Disaster! Closes on the First Night. Investment lost. - 5 SPs. (-1 SP for being seen in the audience!)
4-5: A Flop. Closes after a week. 50% of investment lost. -2 SP
6-8: Nothing Special.
9-10: A Crowd Pleaser. Investment +20%. +2 SP
11-12: A Tour-de-force! Investment + 50%. +4 SP (+1 SP for being in the audience in the first week)
12> : Worthy of The Bard! Investment +100%. +6SP (+2 SP for being in the audience in the first week)
Other modifications: Claques: Hire a group to cheer or boo the play! 25G +/- 1. 100G +/-2.
So you could have several players influencing the roll with +s or -s!
