I don't like to be picky as lots of work is being done to save the game but has anyone else noticed that some of the fields on the new style order /character sheets don't work. ie the field for your birth status cannot be accessed, the field to record your total sp's for MID does not work. There are one or two other things that can be sorted by judicious use of font size.

or is it just me

Nope, not just you... Well, I don't even have Word.

The best approach in that case is to send Ashley an explanation of what needs to be added when you send the character sheet. Ultimately it's up to him to adjust the character sheets into a format that works best for him.

There are still a number of players who have not pinged back that they are still alive and interested.

I am happy for someone to redesign the turn sheet and even create some software to make it work automatically :)

order can be sent anyway you want...don't have to send back the turnsheet...I will update it...

cheers

Ash

I mentioned that earlier, from my note June 11:
Automation might help. I have someone from Elan who is working on his doctorate in computer programming - he may have finished by now. He was working on an automated En Garde system for one of his school projects.

It looked really good. My own reason to not use it was that it would tend to discourage players from adding detail to their orders. I like details from the players to flesh out the write-ups. (What gift did they use to court a mistress, etc.)

But as far as the number crunching, people have made spreadsheets and programs to do just that. Is that something that would help?
-----

I sent him a note — his shell web page is still up, so I asked permission for people to have a look at it.

I could also send you the spreadsheet I use for character sheets, but I use Appleworks so it may not do you much good. I could make a PDF.

Can you use Excel?

I have looked at a new spreadsheet and am going to try it...but is no good if people (i.e. Carol) can't read Excel...

OK...I have emailed out a spread sheet for the Character sheet...I hope that this works and that people don't mind filling it in...

I have Excel at work, not at home. When you send out the character sheets, though, you can make a PDF of the Excel file.

I use AppleWorks at home (which nobody has). So when I sent out character sheets, I would copy & paste all the info into the body of the e-mail. I can also make a PDF of the AppleWorks, but sending it as an e-mail works with fewer keystrokes & storage for me.
