Title: Driving in Greece: Foreign cars and diesel

Entrigo - July 26, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
Hi

I am about to move to Athens, and I'd have a couple of questions RE driving in Greece:

- What is the procedure for driving a foreign car? I am going to buy a left hand drive car, which will be registered either in UK or somewhere else in Europe, prob. France or Poland. Will I need to register it in Greece, or will I be allowed to drive it indefinitely?

- Diesel: I've read on a website there are no diesel cars in Greece, and although foreign diesel cars are allowed, it is nearly impossible to find diesel at petrol stations...

Would really appreciate any help, as I'll have to buy a car pretty soon.

Cheers,

E.

Why not just buy a car here ?

It would save a lot of hassle..., my sister (she is just over visiting at the mo, but used to live here says that cars are cheaper to buy here than in the U.K.)

If you go to a second hand car dealer here (take a Greek speaking friend with you) pay some money on top of what the car costs.. he`ll sort all your paper work out for you..

Believe me, if you don`t have to deal with the paper work here it`s a good thing..
